    The funny thing here is that for me, this is all I would need to see.
    Ports, build, panel talk, config and thermals using an upper tier game that stresses the CPU and GPU.

    I still believe the Lenovo you used for the screen comparison is a better overall laptop, screen is very important to me and the ASUS is definitely lacking in that dept.
    Thermals look great but that’s thanks to the LM , wonder what they would look like straight from the factory like most people would get , HidEvolution is great offering that service.

    I’ve just bought this laptop for gaming/study and i can say that many people underestimate this one due to its battery and heating.I tested this laptop in The Witcher 3,CS:GO,Borderlands 2.Frame rate showed 120 stable with high quality in The Witcher 3,i think because of good optimization.In Dota 2 and CS:GO 220 fps Ultra quality with random drops to 180-200 fps.In Borderlands results were disappointing,120 fps ultra hd BUT the CPU temp-90 Celsius,while in other games it fluctuated between 78-85 max (The Witcher 88-90 degrees stable).Games until the 2017 it can easily carry 120 fps Ultra Quality.To sum up,guys play well-optimized games and be happy.
    P.S. for those who thinks that 120 fps is not enough,the laptop screen has 120 HZ and it means that you are not able to see the difference between 120 fps and over 9000.It shows only up to 120 fps.

    I bought the Scar 2 recently; everything was great. Then Winblows updated. Sonic Studio 3 no longer works and nahimic service was causing copy&paste problems until it was disabled. There's no equalizer in Windows 10 as some people claim. With the Realtek drivers, I have to crank volume nearly to max most of the time. Grrrr. What do other people use to get better sound from this laptop. I know the speakers are pretty decent.

  • @cristianconstantin6496

    Nice preview (or review compared to what the big channels are posting).
    It's sad to see they have so much space but completely ditched the webcam. I also don't understand what's the logic behind the holes in the bottom panel that are misaligned with the fans. How will the fans benefit from that offset intake?
    Also, you should edit the description. It is 2070 max Q. The max P version is basically the full 2070, which I highly doubt this one has.
    On another note, I am considering selling my msi gp73 with 1070 because even after repaste with Arctic mx4 it hits over 90C for the CPU. I also can't get Pavlov VR to run at over 45fps because of cpu thermal throttling. My gpu is at around 30% utilization. do you think I should call msi? For reference, using samsung odyssey plus, laptop has 16gb single channel (maybe that is one problem), but the throttling and high temp is inexcusable

    great review as always. I am a new subscriber :D.
    I owned this laptop for 10 days. It has impressive thermal performance even with stock paste. I undervolted to around 0.15 for CPU and never have thermal throttle issue. Temp stays around 80 for CPU and 70 for GPU. It seems like bucky chassis and pushed back heat sinks help a lot.
    screen color is washed out and its black level is very disappointed that makes my eyes tired. Therefore I had to return it... I ve tested Both. I ve bought today Strix G with 9750, 1660 Ti, 8 GB. Y540 has a few more fps than Strix, but it feels very hot and after a few hours of gaming the device will stutter for 1 second. (One of my friends bought y540 with 9750h and 1660TI and maybe His unit is spoiled) Strix has better thermals and it feels cooler than y540. I will add Another stick with 8GB because it needs 16 gb for a good gaming experience. I saw that y540 has a good display in comparison with Strix, but has a lot of light bleeding - in my case. I have the older Legion version with 8300h and 1050 TI and in my opinion the cooling system is the same. I can t test more y540 because my friend give it to me just for one day. Overall, i m playing without undervolting with Strix because the temperatures are mostly 80-85 in Battlefield 5 on ultra. I really like y540 design, display and Performance, but the cooling system is crap and that s Why I choose Strix G. It s not the best option, but it s a good option if You want a good gaming laptop with a good cooling system.

    Should I go for the Refurbished Helios 300 for $899 or A new Asus rog strix g for $950..They both have similar specs.. Except the I hear the Helios has a better cooling system and much better colour accuracy..

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  Před 4 lety +1

      I I couldn't measure the colour accuracy of the Strix GL531GU because at that time Spyder5pro needed an update but it wasn't as bright as the Helios but its cooling was better. It's a tough choice, I did really like this Asus laptop. The biggest issue I had on the Helios was backlight bleed that is common to all of them but it has a good turbo mode that boosts the GPU by about 100 Mhz. I think you only get 90 day warranty on the Helios which may sway me to the Asus. I recommend checking out my reviews on both.
