There have been so many contributors to Real Madrid’s success over the past few years - there’s one architect of the club’s recent triumphs who barely gets a mention: José Ángel Sánchez, the current general director and Florentino Pérez’s right-hand man.
Who is he? Why has he done so well? What can he be credited with?
Euan McTear explains.

Respect to all those unknown figures like jose sanchez who barely gets mentioned but so helpful in keeping clubs alive meanwhile others take the credit .
the architects behind the success are are unsung, because they probably deal with all the shit the average person wouldn't care about. The probably operate under concepts, few people would understand.
real madrid will never enter into a bad phase just because the way the club is run. all dedicated professionals. greatest club for a reason
No matter who it is, everyone will have a bad phase irrespective of how well the club is performing.
@@richardlobo88 madrid has escaped the dark phase multiple times by acting quick, be it 2009 or 2018. plus the club is run by the members, not by single man or a corporation, unlike the other big clubs. that's the reason why they are suffering now while madrid is still at the top after losing the GOAT.
@@denver5093 no disrespect to la Liga. The race is always between Real Madrid and Barcelona, Ocassionally athletico Madrid.
If you are referring to the league position, it's more due to Barcelona struggles rather than improvements of real madrid. Real madrid hasnt recovered from ronaldo leaving the club. Having said that there is more stability in Madrid.
@@richardlobo88 If by always you mean since about 2006/07 then yes. Either you’re showing your age or your ignorance.
@@sidvyas8549 I think the last time a non Barcelona/ real madrid team that won the league was in 2003/04(someone clarify) my point being irrespective of the phase of these clubs Madrid will always make it to the top 3 spots.(its not because of the way the club is run, but because other clubs cant compete.)
Real madrid first appeared on the Athletic
god first appeared on the Athletic
Athletico Madrid first apoeared on the Athletic but had to add a letter to avoid copyright claims
@Ddhfacetyy letter h was also added to farther obfuscate the true origins of the club
Athletic is a pretty good site, tbh.
@@Northwind20 more like had to remove a letter
Maybe he can help Hazard cut down on the cheeseburgers
@Ddhfacetyy Hazard, right?
@Ddhfacetyy He's overweight for a professional footballer though.
@Ddhfacetyy he isn’t fat but he’s bigger than he was during his Chelsea days.
@Ddhfacetyy I haven’t seen him for a while. Last season he looked out of shape and puffy compared to his normal self. I think it affected his ability to beat a man. I hope we see the best of him soon because he’s an incredible player.
TIFO ALERT: Jose Angel Sanches looks like potential Manscape customer
video idea: top 10 football players with magnificent beards
Manscape is for "below-the-waist" grooming. Who knows what pubes Sánchez has.
This piece is great. A lot of thought and creativity was obviously placed in this.
The little known figure first appeared on Athletic
Wrong, the man behind Real Madrid's success is the King of Madrid, Josep Bartomeu.
Don't you mean the Mad King of Barcelona
Barca's downfall would mean nothing to us if we aren't successful lol
Wrong. Competition between the two clubs is what drives their success. If Barca fails, Madrid is worse for it
Is Cuneyt Cakir
Messi and Bartomeu cemented Real Madrid's succes. 4 champions in 5 years, 3 of them in a row. Thank you Messi, thank you Barto
Great vid from u guys! How bout a video of Leicester's new training ground? That would be massive!
Hala Madrid i love you jose thank you for eveything you did for my club
Can we expect a video on *Lucas Vasquez* ?
The true successor to Ronaldo at RM
He has already overshadowed cristiano ,zidane , de stefano in the madrid shirt.
Excellent video 🔥🔥.
Lol love they use the rings to represent sonic and winning trophies. I hope you guys do a video about Lille OSC's financial situation. They are top of ligue 1 but are bankrupt.
His name in the beginning was the sega font aswell lol, very creative video
@@madridista6862 lol yeah gotta love tifo football's art choices
loved it
The Sonic/Sega logos are spot on
Whoever is behind Tifos branding and marketing....you madam/sir, are the real MVP.
I subscribe to the athletic but watch Tifo just as much lol
I hope you can make a sensible transfers video in the near future
Do a video on the fax machine debacle!
5:43 : *exists*
Me: *visible incoherence*
wow amazing
The Athletic: "Let there be light. "
And there was light

Please start the transfer window with who to sign for arsenal
Last time I was this early Real always got knocked out in the round of 16 of the cl each year.
Lyon
13 titles. Good night.
@@stpstrt *14 now 💜
My nephew's, cousin's, uncle's barber's, sister's brother... lol... no=ice advert for The Athletic
Great work
LOLOLOL
THE END
Peña Madridista fan clubs always gave him the recognition and respects.
Tales of Sonic.
How about a video suggesting future real madrid targets
First
Always here for tifo❤️
Weird how this isn’t a video about Luka Modric. Misleading title 😐
I remember him being the most hated man in the world after he won the ballon dor
@@nabster9253 He deserved that though. The Ronaldo - Messi rule over various trophies got boring long time ago.
SENSIBLE TRANSFERS FOR ARSENAL (JANUARY 2021). PLEASE TIFO🙏🏻
So it is not Hugo Sanchez?
Pre VAR football deserves a mention also
Ofc now we won ucl 🥱enjoy Europa
@tifo there’s a typo, you probably meant Modric, Isco, Kroos.
Make a video on how Real Madrid replaced Ronaldo without changing their style of game play.......
Benzema is doing a pretty good job of "Ronaldoing" without Ronaldo
That would mean that they replaced him when they clearly didn't
Tifo already made a video about their gameplay post CR7-exit, and it's wholly different
4:09 Wait What???
It said this video was 3 weeks old, then when I watched it, it refreshed to uploaded 6hrs ago. CZcams acting up.
He studied Philosophy, not MBA, point to be noted.
What’s wrong with arsenal video please!
Ngl
Videos are great content as always, but I must say I’m not a fan of the tacky approach lately.
I absolutely loved watching Tifo with a calm and soothing voice and animations
Now they don’t feel like that as much.
Just a personal opinion tho
its pretty obvious that Florentino is grooming him to be his successor once he is too old to run the club. And Sanchez also knows this. Also him being the key man behind bringing the cash in Real Madrid, probably also means the rest of the Board are keen on keeping him.
Kind of hard not to succeed at Real Madrid. See how he does at Espanyol.
Yeah.. RM and it’s staff was sooo successful during the 32 year wait for the CL. RM and staff was soooo successful after 7 years of RO16 exits in the UCL 🤫
Success doesn't come with the name. Clubs like Real Madrid are successful because guys like Sánchez work at them.
28 In the way of righteousness is life, And in its pathway there is no death. (Proverbs 12:28 NKJV)
So Jose Angel Sanchez has a presidency in his future?
Probs not enough equity on the team to be a nominee but dude is great
Unlikely
He is eligible, as the main factors to apply is to be a socio for a minimum of 20 years (now is his 21st year in RM) and being a Spanish citizen.
@@siemprerm2763 you can't own an equity for Real Madrid, Barca, and Bilbao as they aren't a private company but rather an organization run by socio system (which means it's ownerless)
I think so. We, the members of the club, know him.
Out of topic but he looks like Pavarotti to some extent 😬😬
don't forget to report the p*rn bots
JAS
Here before the bots, please don’t delete me
Cartoon blue rats to REAL MADRID that's quite a jump but fair play
Cristiano Ronaldo was signed under the reign of Ramon Calderon not by Florentino Perez!
But was this man the one who made it possible. Ramón Calderón is the worst president Real Madrid have had. The only good thing he didn was retaining JAS
Hope Atalanta knock Real Madrid out of UCL
never gonna happen😂
Haha..good joke
Keep dreaming
@Anto Erickson what makes u think they won't??
@Anto Erickson so is madrid

So he is a marketing guy .....loll...he prolly payed for this prop

Two fists. I win the fist fight.
I was expecting to see refeeres.
Disapointed
You mean King Franco?
Bengaluru fc 💙💙
ATK Mohun Bagan 🔥🔥🔥
ATK Mohun Bagan better than Bengaluru
ATK Mohun Bagan defeated BFC 1-0 by Our David Williams super goal🔥
@@SinanShanavas4lol Mohun Bagan shit now why tf did they merge with ATK
Asensio was signed for a snip but it's not like he's turned out to be all that good.
JASs ego has gone wild, he has had a bunch of conflicts with players including Ramos claiming behind closed doors "me voy a cargar al capitán". I think Madrid well be better without that kind of people...
My god dude,you butcher so many names,for fucks sake,Yulen Loupeteigui?!Maccow Asensiow?!Jouzei Angel Sánchez?!Florentinow Perez?!Cristianow Ronaldow?!Reial Madrid?!
I'm single 😥😥😥😥😥
General Franco definitely isn't given all the credit he deserves either...
you can give him since you are here😉😉😉
Football is gone. We are celebrating businessmen more than the game itself
Do u respond or like?
Free Palestine.
Another real little known figure behind their success was Francisco Franco. Real Madrid was the chosen team of the Nationalist Dictatorship to represent Spanish success and succeeded greatly it did while receiving complete financial backing by the dictatorship that led to them winning their first five Champions League trophies in a row in the 50’s.
Wasn't the same General Franco who save FC Barcelona in the 50's allowing the club to use a terrain that wasn't legally suitable to build a stadium (that terrain now is the Camp Now) or the one that saved the club in the 70's from bankrupcy (after that Franco received the only golden medal the club has given)? I think so, is the same man.
Francos regime was still in place when we had to share do Stefano ....if the dictator really wanted we would have gotten him without any issues
boring
