He tried to create the Super League because Real Madrid is a democratic fan-owned club that can only spend what it produces (as is Barcelona). We dont have the resources of rich oil foreign owned clubs like Chelsea, Man City, PSG, in the case of PSG and Man City they have literally a country behind them. The only reason we still can compete with them and be a relevant club is because popularity and history.

Coming back to this comment after some researching and thinking really made me think of this ESL differently...
But the thing is, in as much as the CL is a popularity contest, an abundant number of fans like seeing the classic 'David vs Goliath' story because it makes the campaign memorable and amazing to watch...
This may sound like off, but I honestly like seeing these stories where a team like Sheriff stuns a Real Madrid, ballistic young Håland from Leipzig lights up the campaign, an amazing 2015/16 Monaco team, Barcã's 6-5 comeback from PSG, an Haller from Ajax out of nothing is has an amazing season and so on... Memorable moments, it's become easier to tell who'll win the campaign because the top teams just have more firepower than the rest that's something we just have to live with... All in all, the ESL can't offer those kinds of moments...

Well it makes kind of sense from his perspective. Real is by far the most successful football club, and everyone has the biggest expectations of them. Anything else other than winning every trophy is somewhat a failure for them. Yet they have to compete against teams that spend money with no limit while they have to face many restrictions that their competitors have not.
Not only that, but english teams have disgustingly lots of money. The last team of premier league gets around the same money as the champions league winner. That's obviously not fair, not only for real, but for the whole world.
So Perez decided to make a new league that would increase his team's revenue to new levels.
The way he tried to do to that was totally unethical and stupid, but the problem he tried to solve totally exists.
I think after all that happened we really need to reconstruct football and put new restrictions for all the leagues as wells as make champions league more fair. It's unacceptable that English teams that fight for relegation every year, make more money than any team that plays in Champions League.

I'd like to add and clarify some info as a lifelong Madrid fan:
Perez isn't technically the owner, but he is the "de facto" owner and ruler of Real Madrid, without having to put a penny of his own money.
The 15% deposit rule affects all member-owned clubs, but there's a catch.
Perez made several changes to the conditions to run for presidency, to limit his competition:
    1) He increased the minimum number of years of continued membership to 20. In other clubs you only need 5 or 10.
    2) Most importantly the 15% cannot be in the form of 3rd party loans or investment. It needs to come directly from the personal wealth of the candidate. This basically eliminated all competition.
    3) This 15% deposit needs to be provided before running, losing a percentage of it in case of defeat. It can't be collected after winning.
Perez also has great influence over the national press in exchange of info. Any other candidates who say they want to run are immediately targeted. No one wants to take that risk.
In Barcelona, for example, I think you only need to be a member for 10 years, and conditions 2) and 3) don't apply. Laporta wouldn't have been able to run.
Real Madrid is the most prestigious and successful club in history, you think people would want to be president because of the fame and personal success it brings. And yet since he changed the rules, there have been no other candidates apart from Perez. The last election was in 2006, and he's recently been renewed until 2025 because no candidates wanted to run this year.

By the way, it wasn’t voted but the idea has been discussed in assembly with the members. Shall I remember that the Super League is just a proposal, a project open to discussion with Clubs and UEFA. And there are many good ideas behind, like salary cap, real financial fair play, and more. But people and media rather cry first.
And sorry, many agree with the idea of a new competition outside the UEFA, the most corrupt organization in football, just second to FIFA. UEFA are the people that keep half of the UCL Finals tickets for them, and give the finalists the other half to share. If they do this with tickets, i wonder what they do with the money.

In Argentina most of the clubs are like this, and all of these clubs end up in financial crisis, sooner or later. Also Argentinian clubs can't go bankrupt, but they still have unpayable debts. This is one of the reasons why argentinian players don't come back to they former clubs to retire (majority of the cases).

similar situation in turkey, sport clubs are under regulation of the non-profit organization law and govern themselves, while these organizations have publicly traded companies for ffp reasons. president is elected by the club members, and president has all the power, while there are no regulations about economic health of the club. only reason things started to calm down and economic stability started is the ffp. most money comes from europe and you have to go to europe. for example current fenerbahçe president is the brother of the biggest conglomerate in turkey, and he has boosted company finances by signing sponsorship with his companies. cute right? problem is, he might not be elected next term, so there is absolutely no reason that he could sign these sponsorships only for the duration of his term.

Elections in madrid are held every four year. President hopefuls need that bank guarantee so that if the club makes a loss, the money can be recovered. (Bartomeu did his shady dealings because he did not want to show Barca were in losses and hence just smart accounting). Edit: The candidate also needs to have been a socio for 20 years.
Every year, a budget is presented to the assembly/socios by the board, based on expected earnings and expenditures. Earnings via commercial agreements, gate receipts and everything else. That budget needs to be approved by majority of present members to move forward (if its rejected, then a new budget and so on, though I dont know if this has happened before). The budget also has certain obligations: the president cannot present a budget of 300M expenditure, if the expected revenue is 700M. Like if the club is expected to generate revenue of 700M, all of that revenue should be invested in the betterment of the club. (no profits go to shareholders or socios. Infact, if they do make a small amount of profit, its reinvested for the next year.)
Perez also had to get the Bernabeu renovation project and the bank loan for the same approved by the assembly to go ahead and start on the construction.

Hey Tifo could you please do a video on Brighton and Hove Albion's defensive midfilder Yves Bissouma if that's possible. Which team would he bring the most value in out of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United? Is he the best midfield partner for Thomas Partey in a double pivot with the likes of Granit Xhaka's weaknesses clearly obvious now with someone like Partey alongside him ? Does he favour United's playing style more with Pogba playing some of his best football with a really good Defensive midfielder behind him examples include Kante at France and Andrea Pirlo at Juventus? What would he add in Liverpool's midfield ? I'd really be interested to hear your takes on this and in my opinion the quality he brings to any big team in Europe would 9 times out of 10 improve the team and would be interesting to explore potential summer moves for him

Man city and psg are nowhere near being considered “behemoths of european football”. That title goes to clubs who have won the ucl at some point in their history and remained big clubs like Bayern, Liverpool , AC Milan , Inter , etc. The oil ran clubs are simply big clubs in their domestic leagues and nothing more.
