Historically, Florentino Perez and Joan Laporta have been on opposite sides as Real Madrid and Barcelona have battled for domination of La Liga - and often for the Champions League trophy, too.
But recent events have driven them and their clubs together, which could have repercussions for the future of Spanish football, and the future of the Super League.
How? Dermot Corrigan explains, Craig Silcock illustrates.

Tebas in October-November specifically changed laws to prevent Gavi's registration. He also did the same in around 2004 when Barcelona tried to promote Messi to the first team.
Of all the clubs, he hates Barcelona and in an attempt to trouble them, he ultimately ruining the league.

Tebas is a fool. He is the reason for the decline in teams . His so called financial fairplay has crippled la liga teams and now weaken them. Sevilla had to sell their stars . A team who was just in the champions league is now in relegation zone .simply because the salary cap is to low and they cant keep their stars. It's the same for barcelona he wants us to sell our high earning players to stay with the salary cap. What is that doing for la liga teams? Making them sell their star players and cannot bring in any because they won't want to accept small salaries . So there is no balance. So now small epl teams will be able to give better salaries to these players .

Very shortly or simply put, republicans all over Spain after the Civil War supported Barcelona. Opponents of said republicans, the conservatives and falangists etc. supported Real Madrid. It was a harmless way to rebel against supposed oppression. It wasn't so much the Catalans themselves but the non-conformists in the rest of Spain who created this rivalry. 2nd biggest city of Spain, in a traditionally hostile to the government region in an apparently dictatorial country. It was by all means a natural development, but a very real one. Denying it is not only folly, but idiocy. As a Madrid fan I find it quite funny that in Perez's attempt to keep all the power and riches to Madrid and Barcelona he's hurt La Liga and this Madrid in the crossfire, the league had a golden opportunity to capitalise and become a massive global brand like the premier league when Messi and Ronaldo were both playing for Madrid and Barcelona and was most likely the most "famous" time in la liga's recent history but instead of distributing wealth and strengthening the overall league making a more competitive environment like the PL he tried to hold onto it all himself which as we now see resulted in La Liga's dry period with majority of the worlds attention turning to the English league which in itself IS is a super league.
Pere'z attempts to create a super league to generate more money could have been succeeded "although most likely with not as much as an actual super league would generate" if he just allowed the league and competition to grow but instead he forcefully held it back and thus Madrid along with it.

The only reason the PL is considered a super league is because they’re actually a profitable business model. Real and Barcelona have been sinking La Liga for a long time. Meanwhile PL clubs are willing to share TV revenue so everyone profits and everyone has a chance to build a title winning team.

@@rudymurillo9334 Please elaborate on how Barcelona and Real Madrid are sinking la Liga while being the two most important teams that apport the most revenue to the league with their TV rights. Moreover, it is obvious that the prem gains more revenue with their TV rights because more people watch the PL due to it's major intensity and game dynamics in contrast to the tactical, well defended and slower games of La Liga which may be more unappealing to the regular sports fan, thus not attracting as much viewers which results in less money from TV rights. With this argument you could then argue that it is fair for the prem to have this much money in comparison to the spanish league, but the spanish league has a much bigger problem with its President who doesn't know how to handle the league he presides.

Both barca & Madrid is trying to replace Tebas in upcoming Laliga election probably cuz Tebas is Putting sanctions on laliga teams every week ( specially barca).
PL is certainty the biggest League in World but Mardrid & Barca is the top most elite clubs & biggest in World ( united if you count top 3) -. Don't argue stupidly here. Its according to Forbes.
Outside UK everywhere you go, even go time China & Russia people will say Barcelona / Real Madrid?
This also says that These two teams have also discriminated against other teams in laliga. As a result Its not competitive as PL.
So obviously they need Superleague to compete & maintain growth.
No one is villains here. UK people is protesting cuz they dont want to lose dominance. But everything changes. US is also.not going to be no.1 for long.
& i think Super League is inevitable.

@@outlawfly664 that's only because wealth is concentrated with basically two teams in la Liga. I'm not saying real and barca are bad teams, I'm saying they are hurting their own league. Bayern does well in the champions league too but at the expense of their league rivals losing coaches and players to them. La Liga style is subjective so it's weird to try and bring that up. Teams like Brighton and Brentford are more interesting to watch than most la Liga teams

@@Mikel57129 What you don't understand like most EPL fans is very fact that wealth is concentrated to Madrid and Barca because La liga leadership does a very poor job in promoting their league. They don't have the same leverage as EPL with lucrative TV deals extending over 10 billion with Sky which even is an English media outlet or any middlemen for that matter given the fact that EPL is already it's own super league, never mid the fact that major clubs in Spain are members owned which doesn't attract corrupt billionaires. If that was the case, both Madrid and Barca wouldn't have a hard time to distribute their wealth equally, but at this point it's relatively unfair to both of these clubs given the fact that they are the clubs who overwhelmingly brings the most audiences to the table, in fact both Real Madrid and Barca has the largest fanbase in the world, go figure.

I'm in favour of super league, and in some way UEFA is too. I mean look how they changed the rules of champions league for the upcoming season. That's a very drastic change. Pretty sure even they think something need to be changed and they might not agree with the changes super league present, but they do agree changes need to be made so they did their own version of it.
