You can literally replay these scenes for about 8 hours and it could still probably work.
That's the point, it is a closed time loop, they will always do the exact same action in the same way in the same time in the same universe with the same hats

That's why each loop had different costumes and slight variations. They were all Haruhi's "what ifs" brought to reality, when all she really needed was for Kyo to step up to the plate. They nearly broke free every few thousand loops, but eventually the stockpiled fragments of memories created the perfect Kyo.

As the santa hats are stuck in the time loop, they would eventually deteriorate through age and fall apart. Making a version of this time loop where they aren't given santa hats

There's no Rick/Morty pair that stays in the time loop indefinitely, the hats are just there as a bookmark to keep track of how the time travelling pairs rotate.

The only reason Rick had to punch him was because Morty got out the car and fucked with the snake planet. Future Morty got a black eye, and since nothing else would cause it, Rick had to preserve the timeline.

@@CrazedDevil606 It really depends on the type of time travel. If time travel is possible, then it would likely thing on many world interruption of Quatom mechanics. In that, the whole universe is a superposition of states. Time travel can't affect your person's world line because you aren't visiting your own past world line. Just another superposition state.
This would sort of fit in with Rick and morty universe very well and stick with the nihilistic theme running through the show since ultimately any good you could do with time travel is futile since it won't improve your own timeline
I'm almost positive the writers didn't notice the infinite time loop they made with this story line. But one hell of a way to explain a Mobius strip. Ain't the 4th dimension cool

I love how time travel was always an Easter egg you'd see in Rick's garage that was supposed to be building to something and instead they just shit all over the idea
The joke was that it was "shelved", meaning they wouldn't do it. The reason is because the writers think there are no good time travel plots left, which is also the reason why they made this episode parodying things like Terminator and killing Hitler.

Theoretically this sequence should go on forever because it doesn’t really have an end. There is always another pair of Rick and Morty to request/make the snake costumes. That doesn’t exactly really make a lot of sense.
the sequence does go on forever in its given point of time. that's how closed time loops (causal loops) work.

It does not seem to make sense because you're not thinking in four dimensions.
it's the same pair. sure it "goes on forever" if you switch perspectives from one group to the other during the handoff, but there's not more than two pairs. it's the same rick and morty, shown twice, once from the perspective of their past selves and once from the perspective of their future selves. if you don't switch perspectives, the future selves then presumably go on to have "a little bit of eggnog". the past selves go on to do the snake time travel stuff, but they're the same past selves we already followed.
No, what will break the loop is that the hats will eventually deteriorate, since they are being passed on in the time loop. Once they are broken, that would count as an external stimuli for a break in the loop

The 80's Punk Rock Snake with a chainsaw is a reference to the arcade game Time Killers, the character is named, Rancid. A streetwise punk from New Chicago who carries a chainsaw. His forehead is marked with an X-shaped scar. It is possible his backstory was somewhat inspired from Charles Manson, who had carved a swastika into his forehead. So that was the perfect snake character to go back in time to try to kill Snake Hitler...

Okay so I'm just trying to get this straight, so the rick and morty are at a checkpoint where they dont know how to build the time machine to save the world conquered by snakes, so rick tries commiting to learn how to build a snake time machine and make snake costumes to blend in, thus created a future rick and morty that makes the stuff they need in order to build the time machine and costumes?

The ONLY problem is the hats. If they’re the same hats given by their future selves, where did they come from? They shouldn’t have given them their hats but new ones.
It's the bootstrap paradox that's the point. Retroactively they have no origin because the infinite time loop stretches into the past and future endlessly. My question is why didn't they just keep the snake maths and costume. It's the same principle.
@@skyguy675 The bootstrap paradox isn't really a paradox since there is no logical contradiction, it's just unintuitive that information can come from nowhere. The hats however are a bit of a problem because they aren't just information but actual material objects that can wear down. In order for them to be exactly the same at the end point of the loop as at the beginning every single atom that is randomly rubbed of has to coincidentally be precisely replaced.

Time paradox. The past Rick already saw future Morty with the black eye. Which means before they get the snake costume, future Morty would somehow get a black eye. Future Rick punches Morty just before they give the costumes to their past selves, because he didn't have a black eye, but he can't not have a black when they do give themselves the costumes since past Rick saw that future Morty did have a black eye. Disrupting it would be impossible because if Rick wants the events to happen like it does, he needs to ensure it happens like it did.
I like how did all this to give snakes time travel and have the time cop's deal with all their fuck ups.

they gave themselves the hat, it has no set origin. the fact that we don't know the origin means that the hats will in theory loop through time forever. the fact that you can say "they could have replaced them with new hats" is literally testament to that. we never see them get the hats from anyone but themselves. as such, the hats don't have an origin.
