Whenever I teach my dog a command I always use hand gestures as well. Anytime after I still speak the command and use the hand gestures. This was invaluable when my Chihuahua lost her hearing.

I do the same. When I have friends over, and it's loud, I can use a hand signal to tell her to sit instead of trying to yell across the room.

Same! My chihuahua/terrier seems to be less able to process verbal commands when we're outdoors and she's excited or scared by something. She almost always responds to the hand gesture I paired with "sit."
Also, I've trained her to sit when she's overstimulated, to give her something else to think about, and to enable her to try to calm herself down.

That is the best thing to do as dogs actually go more off of our gestures than words

No offense I somewhat disagree I think 60 seconds is too long. I would say you have about six seconds or 6 to 10 seconds as soon as that dog puts its butt to the ground you should be saying good boy or good girl or snap the clicker and praise the dog in someway 60 seconds the dog has breathed you one minute is a long time, but I definitely agree with the part about doing it very fast. I just think it should be faster and people say my dog knows it did something wrong because they can tell by your demeanor when you see The or the ripped up pillow expression and your body expression they consent immediately so the head goes down, but they don’t know why watch your dog if you’re on the phone during a phone call and you get aggravated they’ll look at you and if you look at the dog They will do the same thing put their head down look away because they think you’re mad at them for some reason you need to constantly praise your dog, especially potty training constantly take your dog outside and as soon as they pee or poop, I even quietly or good boy calmly while they’re going and then after they’re done, I’ll make a Say It much louder and get excited And throw ball and had many dogs and positive reinforcement works best as a child. My father had two Dobermans attack trained and I went and watched and it was much more of a dominance training and totally different from today with talking 30 years ago actually 40 years ago just loved your dog praise them, and you should be good and socialization is key especially to large breed dogs that can do serious damage

Something to add regarding timing of training. Totally agree that training sessions should be short but when to train is also key. Don’t do it when you return from a walk, before or after a scheduled meal time, after a play sessions, when its to hot out, or when there are distractions for either you or your dog. Overall another informative and helpful video - cheers & thanks

something to remember. Always use one word commands. Ur dog can't normally pick out the command out of a sentence.😊
