This Lemon Frosted Lemon Cake is one of my favorite pound cakes. It is a sweet and buttery cake with a moist yet dense texture. As its name implies, it has a tangy lemon flavor that comes from adding both lemon zest (outer yellow skin of lemon) and lemon juice to the cake batter. To further enhance the lemon flavor, the cake is frosted with a simple lemon glaze (frosting).

I got to say... I've made this cake like 7 times, every time it is just PERFECT. My boyfriend doesn't like cakes at all but this one earned me the nickname of "Lemon cake queen". People coming by, even when they're not hungry ask me if they can take a slice home for their breakfast, my in-laws finished the one I brought them in 1 breakfast ! And my dad...Well he just didn't believe I made this. He still believes this comes from the store. Oh well...

Thank you so much Stephanie! I baked this lemon cake today and it tasted amazing even without the frosting! The cake had a thin layer of crust and provided some contrasting texture against the soft and moist inner part of the cake :) I didn't even bother with the frosting cuz it tasted so good on its own.

This cake is SOOOOO AMAZING! It is soooooo soft. Please handle it with care because it is so soft. Let it cool almost completely in the pan before removing because it will fall apart if you unmold it while it's hot (talking from experience 😅). And the flavour is heavenly. Just the right amount of tang and lemon flavour with the buttery rich flavour. This is officially my favourite cake.

I let the cake cool to room temperature before pouring on the glaze. Otherwise, if you pour the glaze over the cake while its still warm, the glaze will soak into the cake.

Thank you so much. I had a cake on nothing bundt cakes there was cream frosting on top oF lemon cake and it had lemon flavor too. So what do I use lemon juice or zest in my frosting? And the quantity of cream and cream cheese will be the same or not. the cake was also very light and fluffy like coffee and orange chiffon cake so what changes can I do next time in my lemon cake shall I add yogurt and baking soda to make it lighter and fluffy. Thanks again.

Thank you for those wonderful baking recipes. I have had many successes with them. With the Lemon Frosted Lemon cake I used half quantity and a five cm height 12 cm square tin. Temperature 160 C (thermometer checked) fan forced oven 40 minutes. The cake rose to 4 cm but with one cm dense layer at the bottom. Any idea of the cause? I thought may be the batter is too thick in the small surface area of cake tin thus preventing the bottom part to rise in the 40 minutes. I could try to split the batter into two 12x12 tins. What do you think.
