You can also dash cancel with shields or off of the attack animation itself. Its not as efficient or optimal as javelin cancelling but it allows for more varied setups. Dash cancelling is not just restricted to CC and Javelin, although that is the best setup

What weapon types would be best for soloing missions that have dropships and aerial/ground swarms though (basically everything)? Hand cannon/blasthole spear for former, arm hound/blast twin for latter? Dropships especially are extremely boring to deal with and take forever, though I assume that's intended.
If your playing on Inferno you can almost use 78 blasthole with catapult for most everything. Blasthole nc Cannon is nice for drop ships and being mobile. Also if you find yourself getting hit too much from wasps, using spinedriver catapult is better as it attacks faster. Overall though I'd recommend blasthole and javalin catapult, and dash in between each shot.
Alurkerdood I didn't care for fencer either when I started playing, but after learning about dashing around to fight, I really learned to love the class. It's a very unique play style and I feel it is the strongest class in most situations.
I'm struggling a bit with all the incredibly similar close combat weapons... e.g. How a spine driver compares to a blasthole spear and what the difference even is. Seems a bit quicker?
Blasthole is just better imo, it has longer range, pierce and huge damage too, able to one shot most enemies. Spine driver is faster and easier to aim but damage is significantly lower, no pierce too, so its better for weaker enemies like bees and the basic drones. In online, blasthole is just better for most of the time because the enemies are tougher.
Edit: Never mind, you cover it at 19:00 I literally started playing today, but there was something you didn’t mention. The NC101 hand cannon LV 0 doesn’t actually keep you stationary, it just sets your acceleration to zero. So if you use a dash, then fire the hand cannon at your max speed halfway through the dash, you *KEEP YOUR SPEED* as you fire the hand cannon. You can alternate dashing and firing the cannon to very easily (I got the rhythm down after about 3 minutes) glide across the ground faster than the ants could catch me on hard 1st level. Only works while you have ammo, and only 12 capacity for the hand cannon I think, but it’s a very very useful trick I used to beat the first two missions on hard
I have moved over to EDF 5 for the most part, but I'd be happy to help with any particular questions you may have about the classes. Let me know, I always read the comments. 😀
well as ranger i've been using for the most part one of these AF for stun/dmg, usually red ants AF ST for dmg, pretty much against most enemies MMF for burst dmg, for advanced version of enemies(red wasps, soviet drones, queens) and those pesky stun flying drones Cascade to save my wing diver ally from the top of the building HARD difficulty (with a wing diver ally) as i don't have enough armor yet to survive on harder diffs so i was wondering about his other weapons ( mostly for general use and not like the fusion guns for short missions) (i did use acid gun in the beginning as it was a great way to kill insects but it quickly became useless) as for air raider i have yet to try him and to check what equipment he has
The main Meta for ranger is -Main damage dealers are af guns or slug shot (roll constantly and shoot slug in-between rolls) or super acid gun (highest dps gun) -long range damage is 2 lysanders (shoot switch weapons shoot switch etc) or stringer if you need a primary weapon or Nova buster for burst damage rarely -burst fire cracker is amazing for crowds or stampede -volcanic napalm is great under ground or for dragons or crowd control -and healing bomb (reverse shooter x) is very valuable to push enemies away and burst heal on certain missions -his missiles are pretty underwhelming on inferno and so are his rockets -unfortunatly ranger is stuck with taking af guns and stringer or healing bomb for most missions
@@KevinEDF if I take a wing diver or fencer underground after 3 seconds of fighting the game crashes, and in certain maps if I'm a ranger even on easy(higher difficulties crash sooner) if I'm looking in certain directions the game crashes

That Other Dude hi, starter tips? For wing diver I would suggest using a rapier and a laser to help to keep your energy up(unless of course you need to snipe) rapier is so very strong in this game, wing diver is best close range high DPS, also avoid flying for long distances but rather fly and then glide down and repeat(I made a video called wing diver hop, helps keep from ever over heating) rapier, thunderbow, idunn, and monster is her best weapons For fencer, I highly recommend watching my dash cancel video and learning that, it makes fencer very survivable. Dashing around with a hammer is very unique to this game. I personally would recommend always having at least 1 dash cancel setup on 1 of the 2 loadouts you can have with him. Lastly, if your having trouble with.some missions, remember that alot of times you can pull just part of the enemies in a level rather than all of them. Try to attack 1 side of the map first or 1 boss at a time or 1 dropship at a time when possible, and if you stop attacking a nest or drop ship, the enemies will stop coming toward you if your far enough away. The dash or the zoom/jump will always be the secondary effect of a weapon, so only the first 2 column weapons have a dash as their secondary, whereas the other weapon columns will give you a zoom or jump. I'm not familiar with PC but spacebar must be the secondary effect of either right or left hand, so whatever hand is linked with spacebar, you can put a weapon from 1 of the first 2 columns of weapons and you will always have a dash on spacebar. Hope that helps.

Never really enjoyed playing Fencers. I'm hoping some of your tips will help me improve and enjoy playing as them.

That is the appeal of the series, in my opinion. I like how it looks like an old Dreamcast game.
I think its good enough, if they somehow make it better, you will need a pretty damn powerful device with all those vsx, explosions and enemies.
