For those who don't know, the game is Japanese, and because of ww2 treaties, Japan can't have an "army" only a group that can act if they're invaded, called the Self Defence Force (SDF), so because the game is Japanese, they made the Earth Defence Force
Having in mind that we cant attack the alirns for obiusly reason we have to denfense ourself... our that until we make a star wars like armada and star a galactic blitzkrieg

I love how basically every EDF game goes from "Okay, we're gonna defend Earth" to "We're doomed, this is the last days of humanity" to Storm 1 misunderstanding the meaning of the "last stand" and who is supposed to die at the end of it, and basically winning the final level of Halo: Reach.

EDF games literally have the exact same plot curve of Getter Robo Armageddon, “we must fight back,” “we are so incredibly screwed 99.9% are already gone there is no hope,” “we WILL kill god anyways”

It curves multiple times in EDF 6, you time travel and shit. In the end 30 percent on humanity is lost with a decent amount of the infrastructure as opposed of EDF 5's 70 percent (i forgor somewhere around that number or higher) without anything standing but parts of the EDF.

Fun fact: In an interview with GameInformer, the creative director of EDF addressed that a lot of people have a phobia of insects. He said he understands why, but that he sees EDF as a way to temper that fear. Because if you don’t like bugs, you can blow them up by the thousands with giant guns and orbital lasers in EDF.

Assault rifles: Has a line of longer-ranged, higher power variants.
Sniper rifles: Has a line of rapid fire variants.
Missiles: Probably better for crowd control with 30 TARGET LOCK-ON.
Shotguns probably don't have a *specific* long-ranged variant/variant line, but they're not point-blank only. That's reserved for flamethrowers and acid guns. I saw someone use this one Sparrow Shot that had a pretty good range, like on par or even longer range than some of the assault rifles.
Fun fact: The developers of EDF, Sandlot, made another game for the Wii called Zangeki no Reginleiv (Blades of Reginleiv) that's basically EDF based in Norse mythology. And there's dismemberment out the wazoo.

Yup, my favorite fencer GOTTA GO FAST combo is the javelin catapult paired with pretty much any melee weapon of your choice for that horizontal thrust option (my choice is the twin blast spears for even MORE THRUST) because the javelin shot cancels the thrust reset frame so when you time the shot and the thrust you can just GLIDE all over the battlefield. You can literally zoom from edge-to-edge on a map with fencer within like a minute or two and it's the funniest thing ever

I fell in love with EDF back in 2011, when Extra Credits featured the current entry in the series in Games You Might Not Have Tried. It sounded like a good time, and me and hubby proceeded to blow up several exoplanets worth of bugs beating every mission on every difficulty lol
When we got 4.1 it was my first EDF with classes, and fell in love with the mobility and sometimes Highly Technical power management of the wing diver, and husbando heard Fencer Gets To Carry 4 Weapons and said Sign Me The F*ck Up Sailor.
We trade jobs mission by mission, with one of us focused on Big Dams To One Target and one on Crowd Control. Sometimes I've got the best tool for the job of flying in and blowing sheild generators and getting out un touched, and sometimes he's got it in 2 dozen guided missiles for those blue laser drone assholes that Slow You Down in hard and Stop You Dead in Inferno.
We LOVE this game, and this video had me cackling with laughter several times. o7

In edf 5 there are some qol changes, one is that fencers boost became an offical system, dash cancelling only works for firing speed, he is faster in this game if you believe it. Ranger gets a dash with a circle that gets stuff, vehicles do this too. Stuff goes to all classes now, weapons you get can be for any class, same for armor, but it prefers the one you are playing. Hectors are replaced with giant "Human" like frogs and grey aliens with armor, erginus is back, and archelus is now tag teaming up with it, shotguns pierce, dragons are replaced with tadpoles, they function the same, its a reboot, so story is a retelling, also pill bugs and the fact that mission control calls any creature a "Monster". Ranger has access to some tanks, bikes, and helicopters but air raider still has him outclassed. In general, its 4.1 but a reboot with qol changes
Oh and edf 6 is out in japan, now with octopus aliens on land and air, a giant erginus that FLIES, mutant insects, and androids that scuttle everywhere and ask to be blown up

Watching Badjur, and by extension his inordinately huge fanbase, discover how EDF "works" is a treat and a half.
I'm a bit ashamed that he didn't mention the Air Raider's support 'team' providing the firepower, including the aircraft carrier Despine and the MVP, Attack Whale, canonically an oversized AC-130 with full-auto 120mm cannons, 150mm cannon, coastal missile volleys and theoretically, a fucking ICBM stapled to it.
I know right? And despine is even more chad because its the last fucking naval surface ship standing it pi ked up everyone that retreated because of the dragons. Including whale, charon tactical bomber group, and miss epicneas herself porters. And prasumably the artillery group in a easy to air lift configuration mode now since they abandoned most of their equipment.
Also despine is described as a floating fortress big enough to acomindate long range tactical bombs, ICBM missles aka the TEMPEST missiles which are as tall as a 11 story apartment building, has its own battleship sized guns, and probably took a genocise gun blast to the face and survived since it was pribably part of the Pacific fleet battle group that went to face off against the brain because command though it was sunk. Also dont forget that one chick in command headquarters of japanese branch that does that ocasionally speaks during missions or she speaks when air raider calls for the satellite blaster/spritefall/laguna blaster/rule of God. Litterally its a shame badger didnt mention the cast that supports air raider and rely on air raider to give them target information.

@@KyleJordanGaming Yeah the support aircraft Whale has a 120mm cannon that can rapid fire out a salvo of 10 rounds in like 5 second if I remember correctly.
