Easy Automated Armor Farming - For Any Class - Earth Defense Force 4.1 The Shadow of New Despair

- In this helpful and informative video (in which I am not at all intoxicated), I show you how to farm for armor in a totally hands off, automated way! All you need is a controller, a rubber band, and some of your old pal jack dagnils...
This method works great for collecting armor while completely AFK. Just be warned that when you hit the 1000 armor pickup number you cannot pick up any more. So limit AFK sessions to about 1-2 hours, not all day.
It also simplifies a lot of the strange qualifiers other videos seem to have like needing an Air Raider in a helicopter to keep from being pushed out of the nest or using late game or DLC missions. If you wanted to, you could do this pretty much from the start of the game, and I feel that farming tutorial should have a low barrier to entry. So that's why I felt compelled to make this video.

Glad to hear! Lemme know if there are any other tutorials you'd like to see for this game. I had some higher level more difficult to pull off farming strategies but I figured interest would be lower since they require a fair bit of grinding to get to the point they are viable.
Once you have powerful enough weapons and good armor, and DLC Pack 1, which is hard as s**t but has two places for farming, play it through until Shifting Mountain. The wave after the ''Silver Spiders are emerging from the tunnels'' line is the one you want to be on. Destroy the nest inside the trees immediately, and head over to the spider one. If you don't kek the nest, you'll get f---ed over by golden ants.
After you get rid of the spiders, do the same trick used in this video with the spiders. Nine spiders will come out, but your strong Rapier (Thrust) will literally rape them, firing them up into the air. If you have two players, control the other player so that they grab all the items (display limits are annoying! Softlock at 1000 item!), and if you want the player to support with knocking away the spiders, control them onto the nest. Rangers and Air Raiders are slightly longer to get onto the nest, but works.
Once you've banded the fire button to your controller[s] (and mouse if you only have one controller), just wait. When you think you're done, unband the controller[s] (and mouse if you only have one). Look down and destroy the nest. Scoop up any items that are somehow left over, and you're items are given. Inferno is possible, but only with absurd armor/weapons, like two Master Rapier (Thrust) players.
Confirm your rewards, which is most likely the armor. Congratulations, you've done the Shifting Mountain Armor farming!

This doesn't deserve a pin in my opinion. Also, you can use Two-One player. What's it mean? Two players, one person. You control one of the players, and you can switch to the other when you need. Best to be in a safe area when switchin'!

tried this but my wing diver moved after a while
maybe i can try putting her at one corner of the hole and shoot the spiders at a 45 degree angle and put the other player at the center to pick the loot
So you think I could attempt to do this with 2 spine drivers on Fencer? Like maybe I Have them alternating? It’s only a 2 second reload and with 2 you should only have a 1 second down time

Silver spider spawns are the best for armor drops
I did this a few minutes ago, got tons of useless weapons and 300 armor, it took about 40 mins. Fun fact: you can let the game afk and still use your PC, just alt tab and then keep using, since the game doesn't pause when you change tabs. I did while watching videos and job stuff.
you know you can turn off the vibration on the controler via the ingame menu right? xD
So like I know this vid was made from 2 years ago but like so even if I play with 2 players but from single player mode, the armor is shared between the two classes with the same amount u get?
I cant check at the moment, but cant you just disable controller vibration?

if you're playing pc can't you just use a macro? is there really a need for a controller?
What I do is I place a coin in the space created when the trigger is pulled, and the coin stops it from returning to neutral, so you just keep shooting.

Just did this - played through Mission 15 with my Fencer and Diver (600 and 450 armor respectively). Killed everything but the last nest, sat my Diver in it, taped the RT button down and went to do other stuff for like 2 hours. Came back, finished the level, and got 761 armor. My fencer now has 1000, and my Diver 600. Cheers!

Hey um idk if you still make these vids but, can you tell me how to farm weapons for the ranger class and the air raider class???? I dont have a ps4 or a pc soooo yeah I really want to know how to farm. Oh and please if possible, can you make more edf 2025 vids? I really love the game. Yeet
For some reason when I do this with my wing diver and fencer the fencer is the only one getting armor. I've done it multiple times and even switched who was first and second player yet there was no change. I have Wing diver on keyboard and mouse so I can use a macro to hold down click and idk if that's the problem but i find the rubber band method on the controller to be unreliable (fell off half way through on one of my runs and i wiped after half an hour T_T). I'd appreciate any suggestions or reasons why this is happening if anyone knows.
Ah nvm i'm dumb, Didn't have max armor automatically set lol. Thanks for the video though it's been really helping in my attempts to catch up to my friends armor wise so i don't fall over as soon as the wind touches me xD.

It occurs that my wd gets kicked out of the nest cause of too much loot. So i tried to put my ranger next to the wd.
But it seems they stop auto collecting :( cant leave for more than an hour

ALTON PLAYS no, u got me wrong. the problem is, my chars get kicked out of the nest by the lootboxes. Today i started farming and left for lunch. When i came back my wd stood next to the Nest instead of on top. Luckily i was back at the right second

CreonVanEpo oh, lmao for some reason I thought this was the weapon farming vid. I gotcha. Yeah, it isn't as flawless as I originally thought, so sometimes you have to come back and adjust your position, like every 30 minutes or so.

By design. In multiplayer, every player (they are assumed to be different players) receives all the armour and eligible items that have been farmed during the mission.
It's a game about giant bugs though, so...
On Crimson Lotus mission (Mission Pack 2 DLC) You can get more armors about half hour, (possibly under 20 - 15 minutes) I earned it like 300+ - 400+ There is Transport ship drop 10 Silver Spiders every like 20 seconds (I don't remember), I played with friend on Crimson Lotus we killing 20 Gold Ants and 10 Silver Spiders, they drop tons of armors tho.
If you have best weapons like AF100 or Flame Cannon for Ranger. Master Rapier or Idunn FF for Wing Diver. Hand Gatling (level 70+ or maybe less) for Fencer. and about 80+ Armored Grape Van (Light Machine Gun) for Air Raider.

are you killing the other troops? if not they will slowly destroy the nest... make sure to kill off all the AI troops they put with you.
A thing I've noticed is you don't get %100 of the armor you pickup

The value of the armor pickup varies from class to class. Tankier classes have an easier time gaining armor.
The armor per pickup for each class is:
Ranger 0.47
Wing Diver 0.23
Air Raider 0.46
Fencer 0.58
