- If you update Windows 10 and then your monitor is black and says OUT OF RANGE, this is how to fix it 100% in under 2 minutes.

You update Windows 10, the PC restarts,
and you're greeted with the dreaded OUT OF RANGE error!
But chill out, we're gonna fix it in under 2 minutes
If you have multiple monitors, unplug all but one.
First we need to get Windows 10 into Safe Mode.
Manually turn off the PC.
Then turn it back on.
When Windows starts to load, manually turn off the computer again.
(When you see the progress circle, that is your cue to turn off the PC)
Then turn it back on.
Repeat these steps 2-3 times.
Eventually at start up, instead of the progress circle you'll see
'Preparing Automatic Repair' - just let this load
From Automatic Repair, choose ADVANCED OPTIONS
Then choose TROUBLESHOOT
Choose Advanced Options
Choose STARTUP SETTINGS
And select RESTART
After Windows restarts you will enter Startup Settings
Press 4 or F4 to enable Safe Mode
After Safe Mode starts go to Control Panel
Or press the Windows key and type in 'Device Manager'
I'll choose Control Panel and select Device Manager
In Device Manager, expand DISPLAY ADAPTERS
Right Click your video card driver and choose 'Uninstall Device'
Make sure you check the box that says, "Delete Driver Software"
And uninstall.
Then Restart Windows.
As Windows starts up it will automatically install a compatible driver for your video card.
And that's it, the OUT OF RANGE error is fixed, and you can use your computer as normal.
If you wish, you can now go ahead and install the latest driver for you video card.
And of course connect any additional monitors.

The system in the video is using an nVidia Quadro K5000 video card. This solution will work for other video cards as well.

I somehow managed to start up windows without safe mode but with help of auto repair. Should I uninstall driver now or the problem is taken care of?
If it doesn't work for you, and you still get out of range message after you booted up your device in safe mode there is easy solution for that too. Instead of clicking number 4 on the menu, you click number 3, and that's it.

But what if my computer doesn't automatically install the new driver, I've uninstalled the display adaptor 2 times now if that's even possible , and when I try to restart my computer it connects to the Basic Display adapter, from there I've tried downloading new drivers, but in the middle of my download, my computer goes black, and shows me out of range, for no reason, I don't know what to do, pls help

While hovering over the restart button hold shift for (windows 10.)
While booting continue to hold on shift you'll see the troubleshooting menu pops up.
You'll get the troubleshooting menu quicker this way.

After uninstalling display driver I booted in normal mode. After a minute it automatically installs appropriate driver then it shows "out of range" what should I do?

@@wanchai1494 facts, that was my problem cause the old monitor hasn't HDMI port and I used to use a converter from VGA to HDMI and guess this was the problem, I bought a Samsung 22" with HDMI port and no more problem

@@filipesaviolebol Yes and No, it was on the family pc. I got a new pc for myself. BUT it has not been solved. We think the problem could be with the monitor. Because it's 1024x768. When i plugged my monitor (1080x1920) it worked. But when we pugged the other monitor in. It didn't help. So buying a new cheap 1080p monitor would probably work.

For anyone who is still dealing with the issue, even after going into Safe Mode, deleting drivers from Device Manager, restarting Windows and reinstalling the drivers, or even after going into Low Res mode, maybe this will fix it : you have to go into display settings, male sure you are into duplicate mode, then select your laptop screen as primary display. Your monitor should then pop back open.
Let me tell you, I was pulling out my hair and screaming before I fixed it with this.

No. Entering Safe Mode won't do anything to your files. Deleting the current video driver will not effect your files.
