It’s always FUN to watch you do gel prints! The anticipation of what the finished print will look like is magical. And then...it’s always fun to see how you use the prints later on. I think I might like the prints with the triangle stencil best, too. Thanks for making it possible for us to watch you ‘play’ today. 😉
Thank you for watching Daisy 😊
I really enjoyed that Shel. Thank you for the baby oil tip. Now I’m going to take Carolyn’s class.
Have fun with Carolyn's class. She is a fun lady!
That was a really fun playtime
Thank you Laura 😊
Great idea, Shel. I had wondered if the Pan Pastels would work. I have a small set of 6 pastel colors, so I am definitely going to play with them on the gel plate. Really like the “it’s not a snowflake” stencil! Thanks, Shel. You always do such a nice job with your videos....
Thank you Cheryl 😊 have fun playing!
Now you did it! I had talked myself out of the Pan Pastels. Told myself I really didn't need them. Now I have to have them! Love your prints and all of the colors. I was so hoping you would do the triangles like candy corn. Lol!
Lol... I know what you mean. I had to have those pastels too a couple years ago and I am glad I now have a really great use for them. Great idea for the triangle stencil!
These are marvelous. What a fun technique. Of course I sent this video straight to Pinterest. If I ever get pan pastels this will be the first thing I try. I can’t believe the results you got with the face stenciled. The colors you have are brilliant. TFS
Thank you Evelyn 😊
You made some beautiful prints. I always get confused about what colors to put down first. I'm trying again this weekend to make some decent prints. I added to my mantra - Be hopeful. Be in the now. Be joyful.
A great mantra Elaine. Just keep in mind that what is on the bottom is what you see first in the print.
I never thought of this either~ how cool! thanks
Thank you for watching Stacey 😊
Shel ! I do not want more paint ! You tempt me with the great prints with pan pastels !🥰
LOL..I have the same problem when I watch other peoples videos. I need more things I did not think I needed
!
Fantastic prints, thanks for sharing .
Thanks for watching Cheryl 😊
I always enjoy watching you gel print. These were really pretty, such wonderful color. Thanks Shel.
Thank you Debbie 😊
Fabulous range of prints!
Thank you Jennifer 😊
I love watching you gel print, Shel. You always end up with so many super prints! 😀
Thank you Keryn 😊
Love this. Great job in demonstrating pan pastels and gel printing. I'm excited to give it a try!
Thank you Judy 😊 have fun!
Wow. I have to play with Pan pastels in my next gelli session.
Have fun Debby 😊
You would do a great class, I bet. You have a lovely voice and I enjoy your work.
Thank you Judy :) Some day I will!
Pan pastels look yummy!!! Love❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you Sue 😊
What a great video! Can't decide which is my favorite since I'm blown away with them all! TFS
Thank you Marie 😊I like the triangle ones with the black/grey
Awesome prints Shel!! Thanks fo sharing! :)
Thanks for watching Mona 😊
Thank you so much Shel. Yes that’s very interesting and clever and amazing xxx Mags
Thank you Mags 😊
You are definitely a Master of gel printing. Great ideas and may now have a use for my pan pastels.
Thank you Gloria 😊 have fun!
Very cool. I never use my pan pastels - now I will
Have fun with those pastels 😊
I just love how your mind works! LOL TFS
Thank you Becky 😊
Shel Cee, nice pan pastels. Interesting results. I don’t have pan pastels yet, I must put them on my wish list. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Annie 😊
Your gel prints are fabulous!
Thank you Norma Jean 😊
I love how the pan pastels turned out. I don’t have any because they are so expensive and to get a decent array of colors is daunting. I did see that Carolyn Dube had a class, but since I don’t have the pan pastels, I didn’t take the class. It’s a cool idea, though. Great video!
Thank you Bonnie 😊 yes, pan pastels are ‘fine art’ products and very high quality ... so expensive... sadly. I bought a set of colors all together from Amazon which was a better deal then piece by piece and got a nice array of colors. Link in below the video.
Pretty prints.
Thank you Peg 😊
Oh, some of those are just yummy in all their colors Shel! That blue/silver one was stunning. Great video 💜💞💜
Thank you Anne 😊
I love the one with the face. Very cool technique. TFS
Thank you Julie 😊
Love how these colors print. I'm taking the class with Carolyn Dube, too. Having a lot of fun with this process.
Thank you Barbara 😊 Carolyn is fun and colorful!
Thank you for this! I am watching this video a second time because I just ordered my first pan pastels. I love Carolyn's Mastering the layers class, so I will most likely order this class.
Thank you Jesse :) Carolyn is a fun and enthusiastic teacher.
Good use of pan pastels. I have some ,somewhere. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Ruth 😊
You got some fabulous prints, I love the girl tfs Shel
Thank you Maggie 😊
That looks like fun, I will have to find my panpastels I bought years ago and never used...I havent used my geli plate in ages, busy life keeping me away.
Thank you Melinda 😊 oh you will have fun with those neglected supplies when you get some free time !
very very cool !! :)
Thank you Leslie 😊
Highly pigment papa steals is definitely on my list. Never heard of these paints.
They are very fun and easy to use...you will love them!
I saw Carolyn using the pan pastels but I prefer your usage. I've seen those off and on for years but never thought it was something I wanted to work with but I guess I will see how much they cost again and then decide. lol Great job.
Thank you Lori 😊 They are a lovely and very high quality product that I now have a really fun extra use for
Thanks for sending me to this video for my question. All your videos are inspirational for me. I am wondering if I might be able to do this at an easel. I can not sit at the table to do my art anymore and I miss mono printing. It’s such a magical thing to do. 🙏🏼❤️
I am glad you enjoyed it Nell :) You might be able to do the pan pastel application to the plate on an easel if you put the plate on a hard acrylic backing. However I think the brayering part and pulling need to be on a flat surface. Maybe standing up to give a bit of pressure to the plate?
I am hoping to find out. It’s always good for me to mono print to have fun. Thanks 🙏🏼
Beautiful prints! Too bad the vinyl didn't work out but loved the rest. Thank you Shel 🤗👍💟
Thank you Micheal Ann 😊
Pan pastels.
So much fun watching you have fun! Apologize for the duplication; what’s the brand of pan pastels pls?
Thank you Karen 😊 Pan Pastels is the brand. There is links below the video to take you to it on amazon.
Than you for a great video! I don't see a link to the pan pastels...?
ooops! Here is a link for a 20 set. You can also get them in small sets or individual pans. amzn.to/2YaFAHa
Love this Shel! I too would not have thought that Pan Pastels would work on the gel plate. I am assuming that you wouldn't need to seal the print because the acrylic paint you have used would do that for you?
Thank you Jackie 😊 yes, the acrylic used to lift the pastel also seals it.. it’s very cool!
@@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio Fantastic, can't wait to give this a go!
Shel, great video, very informative! Did you need to seal the Pan Pastels on your prints with anything?
Thank you Catherine 😊 nope, they are sealed by the acrylic paint used to pull them off the plate.
@@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio Shel, wow, that's awesome, can't wait to try this! Thanks!!
What are you using to clean the gel plate? Is that alcohol or oil? Which do you prefer?
Great idea using pan pastels on gel plate. I guess I’ll have to get some to play with. Which pan pastels are those? Do they come in those trays or is that something you came up with? Hmmmm just when I decided I didn’t need anymore crafting supplies.
BTW- Your style is brilliantly creative ❣️
Thank you Abbie 😊 it is cheap baby oil for clean up. I bought the pan pastels in a set with the tray. Link below the video.
Just wondering about collage with these. Do you need to seal these with anything first?
Nope..the acrylic paint lift off layer seals everything up and you can just collage away :)
Hi I don't know if you can help me with this but I was doing the same technique where the pan pastels went down first and then a thin layer of paint....now the pan pastels are sticking to my gel plate...I have scrubbed with soap too and I can't get them off..even though I am sure they won't bother anything I just prefer to have a clean plate so if you can help please do..thanks btw loved the video...I had to pull out all of my products and do the same things..
Sure I can help Patricia :) Just clean it with cheapo baby oil from the dollar store. Cleans it right up and also smells nice and conditions the plate as well :)
It is just amazing that the dictionary industry doesn’t design their products to accommodate the gelli print community better, for a perfect fit. Lol
I know right? Pesky old dictionary papers lol
Do you ever use construction paper for printing? The black sheet looked like construction paper...?
Hi Vonalda :) The black paper was actually cardstock but you can print on any paper. Construction paper is more pourous and will absorb more paint and might have a texture though
W
I hope the W is for WIN :)
What r pouring on your plate to clean it
That is baby oil from the dollar store. Works really well to clean and condition the plate.
never mind my post below...I just ended up scrubbing really really hard and most came off..
no really..try the oil..it totally works!
I may not like you anymore. I have been reducing my craft spending. I now want pan pastels.
Do you still have the big ball of bees, or have they moved on?
I had the same problem a couple years ago! Now I have them and should use them more lol. The bees found a new home on their own without interference from me.
@@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio I am glad the bees moved on peacefully. I am totally hooked on gel printing. I may need to mull the decision of pan pastels for a while. That might be a Christmas splurge. I am looking at sets of 20 on Amazon, but they don't come in pallets, or with lids for them all. That seems really messy to me. I just adore the look of what you were doing.
I also want to move to a much smaller house in about 18 months. Everything that comes into my craft room must be totally worthwhile. You have pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I like it. I used glass bead gell and stencils on a card to a friend who has been losing her sight.
