    Two passing thoughts. That circle shape one in the black, made me think of what doughnuts laid out on a zerox machine would look like when printed out. =P lol Also, I was thinking the heart shape in the toilet paper tube was great! If you did two of them, and turned sideways side-by-side, could be a beautiful butterfly impression for spring. =)
    It has been nearly two years since I used my gelli plate. I was so addicted then. Watching you makes me miss it. Time to bring it out again. You are fun to watch with them! Thanks for sharing! =)

    I have never gotten my hand made plates smooth enough for my liking. I just ordered the gel press bundle from Spellbinders. I am REALLY looking forward to it coming! I am enjoying these videos. I'm a card maker. I don't know why, but I am not loving craft paint for this. Many card makers do. I ordered some screen printing inks to try. Its taken me about 4 years of playing with my home made plates to buy one. I figured I would go all in!

    • @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio

      How fun :) I am happy that you are excited to get that silicone plate. Yes, for me craft paint is a no...it drys way to fast for the desert where I live. I like medium to heavy body paints..or open paints that stay wet longer. I bet printing ink will work too!

      @@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio Thank you! I live in humid Southern VA, but I may play with it too long and let it get too dry. I bought the stuff to give you more open time on the inks.

    You got some great prints from these techniques Shel. Have you ever used the paper tubes as rollers? Like sticking bubble wrap or sequin waste, etc around the tube and then rolling across the gel plate to give continuous patterns.

    Hi Shel, Gorgeous prints as always!! It's almost impossible to get styrofoam trays here in the UK , at least where I am it is, so I will have to see what else would work! Bubblewrap is my favourite of course!! One i have tried is to use an embossing folder on craft foam and then use that, it make fab prints. I have a lot of new things to have a go at now, so thanks Shel!! x

    • @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio
      @ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio  Před 6 lety

      I know, Most of our supermarkets and shops use plastic now which I don't think is too environmentally sound either!! But Heyho that's how it goes!! lol

    • @TheKazadoodle
      @TheKazadoodle Před 6 lety

      I'm in the same boat - no Styrofoam trays here either as they aren't recyclable so it's plastic trays as they can be recycled. I'm sure fun foam would work though.

    These were great tips! Love the prints you made. Unfortunately, all the meat we get from the market is wrapped in nrown butcher paper. I think I will ask thee meat cutter/deli guy, if I could buy 1/2 dozen of the trays. He may think I am wierd, but I don't care. I will tell him, I need them for my art- so there! I thoroughly enjoy watching you make prints amd chat along the way, explainimg whatcha are doin', so thanks, Shel. Oh yeah, have you been successful, using both sides of the trays for marking?

      I use my prints in my mixed media collage art. They also make great background for art journals (I am making a home made print journal video soon) and also can be cut into card layers and artist trading cards. You can used them in scrapbooking. You can even collage them onto boxes and frames and things for home decor. They are all around good painty papers.

    It's fun watching you do this but the end result is too haphazard for my taste. If I take the time to do something, I want to make sure the end product is worth the effort. I guess it's a case of what's more important, the process or the result. Maybe being a guy is why I am more result oriented. That plus the fact that for over forty years I was judged by results in my job. It wasn't enough to be rated number two. I wanted number one. Glad to say I achieved that some times. You know, I hadn't really paid much attention to it but I guess art is a reflection of our personal psychology.
