Years ago my father taught me how to batik. I still have a couple of hangings that he did. Love the technique, and I agree with you that crayon resist is very similar.

I like all the techniques. It always excites me to see what I end up with after gell prints. I am amazed that your gel plate is not stained. Mine got stained the first time I used it. :)
Thank you Jan :) My original 8 x 10 plate that I have had for about 3 years is yellowed..no longer clear. I wouldn't say stained though and still works perfectly. This 12 x 12 is brand new as I ordered it right before the challenge.
I sat through this going. "Wow! Oh, wow! Cool! Wow!" These are so interesting and beautiful! I want to go practice now :)

How cool, you have a 12x12" gelli plate! Nice to know, the price has come down considerably. I love crusty bits and some of these techniques, I have never tried. I will do so next time, I get everything out to gelli plate. You had some clever ideas! You made some great prints, Shel.

I'm using my phone, if you're on a computer it's a whole different ball game I'd expect.
I've never used a computer for CZcams so I couldn't compare it.
I am new to all of this. Very fascinating! Your videos are very fast and I am wondering since you’ve sped up the video, how long in between these layers do you wait for them to dry? Or do you wait?
Hi Eve 😊 because I live in a dry climate with very low humidity I don’t wait more then 5 minutes max ... probably less.... before I apply another layer. Other factors will be how much paint you put on (most put way too much) and the type of paint. Just play and practice and you will get it!
I really enjoyed this video. I have a 6x6 plate but have not used it yet. Uh, I think I am afraid of just making ugly messes and wasting paint.

It appears you were using card stock, but it also looks like you are using tissue paper possibly? Thanks for watching :) I use cardstock to gel print if I plan to make the piece into a journal or cards. Mostly I print on thin papers though as I am a collage artist and those work best for me. I use printer paper, deli paper, and sometimes rice paper. Most tissue is too fragile and will tear during the lifting... although there are some more robust art tissues available.
