    I’ve been two months keto and 7 1/2 months carnivore. Still not fat adapted after all that time. Changed my ratio to 80/20, eating 60-75gr protein and over 200gr fat to try and become fat adapted. All the fat ended up in the toilet. And in three weeks time because I had so little protein and my body wasn’t using the fat, I became core cold, cravings like crazy, irritable and depressed. My entire journey I have been over eating protein because my body demanded it, but my body was using the protein for glucose and just storing the fat and I put on 48 pounds in 2 1/2 months (previous to that, I had managed to lose weight via a lot of IF/EF, but tanked my hormones - refeeding brought it all back on track, but resulted in the weight gain). I have no idea how to make someone like me fat adapted. I’ve been using HCl and ox bile, but it’s making bathroom trips worse. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Hi, love your videos. Been on carnivore for 31 days today. 60 yr old. Female , 5’6”. Was 138 when I started, hanging at 130. Would like 126 lbs. started more salt (thank you for that info) as I do not have energy, super tired, foggy… Not sure I’m fat adapted yet. Bacon, eggs and burger breakfast sends me to the bathroom. Steak and lettuce for dinner. Fasting at least 15 to 18 hours per day. Hate bacon, eggs, burgers, never used to be. I used to be beef and potato girl. Not big on sweets( like your mom) started drinking more Redmond ancient sea salt water this morning will increase to see if it helps. Just ordered the redmonds electrolytes…I will be going the full 90, praying the energy and brain fog stops. Thanks for the info. Keep up the great videos.

    Hi Rebecca!🌺 We met at a Sally K Norton zoom meeting, but you might not remember me.😄 I cannot fat adapt for the life of me!🤪 I have tried carnivore twice, first time for about 9 months and second time around 5-6 months. I had to stop both times bcs of SEVERE, dangerous symptoms that lasted months and months. I was just hanging in there waiting for the fat adaptation to happen but it just never did and I finally was in such a dangerous place that I literally thought I was about to die. I just constantly ran on stresshormones (bcs of the inability to fat adapt, not bcs of life stressors), couldn't sleep bcs of that, racing heart and severe arythmias, intense intracranial pressure and stabbing chest pain, lost my period, extremely acidic and foul body odor and so on so forth. I never fasted or underate, I knew from before that that wouldn't be a good idea in my case having had hypothyroid symptoms for years, even though my labs were in order. I dabbled with electrolytes and tweaking with macros and so on. Nothing helped. I guess I was roughly on 1:1 most of the time for the first 8 months though. But the last month of that I tried a Stephanie Keto Person/PKD type of carnivore to see if that would help but that literally almost killed me. (Low protein, very high fat.) I'm not exaggerating. I had a resting heart rate of almost 200, my heart just fluttered. I literally had to reintroduce carbs and everything just calmed down. I actually never thought that I would EVER try keto/carnivore again and went back to a Ray Peat style of diet. That has worked best out of everything I have ever tried during the years, but I just can't resolve my original health issues on that even though I sleep better. I have fibromyalgia and asthma and I battle a lot of neurological issues. I was vegan for about ten years and vegetarian for a lot of years aswell in my youth and even as an omnivore I was always the "healthy eater", so I know that oxalates plays a really big role in my story. After those first 9 months of carnivore and a couple of months Peat-ing I sadly went on the Medical Medium diet. I know...desperation can certainly lead you astray...😩 So I did almost a year on a plantbased super high carb, low fat extremely high oxalate diet. I actually felt better at first, not surprised with knowing what I now know. Oxalate dumping halted and I could use glucose as fuel. But that diet bit me in the behind big time ofc and my gut was completely trashed again. I came off that diet last autumn and then I went back to Peating for a couple of months. But since that doesn't solve my underlying issues I went back to the carnivore diet again...I thought that I must have done something wrong, this time I'll do it better!🤪😄 I tried the SBgang feasting plus then went to beef and beef fat only. Eating big portions, never fasted. Same thing happened the second time around that I already described above. It got extremely dangerous in the end and I had to reintroduce carbs. And everything settled down and I could sleep again and so on. Even got my period back after 3 years! But...still having the same issues that I started off with ofc. I have lowered my carbs (honey, fruit, milk, yogurt) from roughly 180 to 120 recently bcs I don't think that it's good to eat lots of fats plus carbs ofc. I am overweight and I have all the signs of insulin resistance. My blood sugar is very good though, I don't have high blood sugar at all. Anyways, even by lowering to 120 I have started to get hot flashes and sleep a bit less so that tells me that I'm on the brink of running on stresshormones again and I'm about to lose my period again. As a carb burner, 120 is apparently to low. But I don't want to be dependent on HAVING to eat carbs all throughout the day to not crash and burn! I don't think it's healthy in the long run at all! And I have early onset dementia in my family and I have already issues with memory. Sure, some are oxalate related, but I have seen the signs in a brain scan aswell. I REALLY need to be able to fat adapt!!! I just don't know HOW when my body goes into stress mode at once and I just cannot sleep. No sleep hygiene efforts or supplements have EVER worked, adding back carbs has been the only way. I don't know how I would be able to fat adapt....😩 Sorry, this got long...I just don't know what to do, Rebecca! You need to sleep to be able to fat adapt, and I can't sleep on low carb. Catch 22! I couldn't even sleep although I tried sleeping pills, that's how cortisol/adrenaline driven I was. What to do...what to do....?🤔🌺

You mentioned your blood sugar is stable (I'm guessing in the 80s?), energy is good, not starving and don't need to eat before exercising. I fit all those, so can I assume I'm fat adapted or are there other signs to look for?

    So I have been carnivore for about four years and I was ketogenic before that. I’m 58 in menopause and this way of eating has helped me immensely I dropped down to about 117 during that time and I am now up to 127. I left heavyweights hiit and tabata workout five days a week, including walking with interval sprints. And I do spend once a week. I get my vitamin D and electrolytes and I never cheat I feel like the last several months I had put on some weight up to 127 even though what I was doing was no different than my success before my skin texture has changed a bit and I know that is me aging😢. But how do I tap into my lover again? How do I reset? I am using Carb Manager for my macros and I just went in and reset it to my goal weight realistically I put 120 protein and 140 for fat and 25 carbs. My body is ultra sensitive to carbs so I try not to eat more than that. I don’t want to slip backwards. I want to stay in that zone that I worked so hard to achieve and sculpt a little bit better. I know there’s people my age that do it. I am not taking hormone replacement therapy because my mom had breast cancer. And I’m doing it naturally. When I go and have my labs done every year, which was recently, my cholesterol is 420. My HDL is amazing. My LDL is 313 and my doctors always panicking saying I need to be on a statin and go see a cardiologist. I told him eating this way. Makes those numbers higher and I would go get a cardiac scan if I have to to prove him. What are your thoughts?

    Raw fat trimmings make constipated, cooked fats give me bad reflux ans they don’t digest. and if I add fat to a high protein day my glucose shoots way up and I get super swollen and inflamed. Seems for me it either has to be 1:1 or high protein low fat. I feel more satiated with high protein low fat but also sleepy. It’s definitely confusing.

    • @rebekahheishman-tailoredke8939
      @rebekahheishman-tailoredke8939  Před rokem +1

      Yes, it can be confusing. If you're still seeing a rise in glucose after moderating protein and bumping up fat and giving that at least 10 days for your body to fully adapt to the change, you might just still be dealing with elevated rates of gluconeogenesis due to deeper rooted problems in the central nervous system et cetera- that might take a little bit longer to work out those kinks. Medications can also interfere with glucose as you probably already know.
      If you can't seem to make those numbers look great by your standards then I would just recommend putting it away and focusing on how you feel. One step at a time.

      55.55-777.7= -722.15🧐🤷🏻‍♂️ if I do it in bls it’s doubly as bad.
      Should it not be 55.55kg divided 14%=4?
      Making lean body mass 51.55kg? That looks better to me.

      This is pretty common with those who are very lean. There could be 1000 different reasons but one reason could be that since your body doesn't have a lot of extra fat to run off of, it's going to be preparing glucose as needed. This is my history - if it helps to figure out. ( I already love you for trying❤️🙂 )
      my body and mind was absolutely fine before but postpartum i took a lot of stress whilst raising my son ( 7 yrs) now I am underweight, Super skinny, weight loss was gradual after postpartum stress, c section ( placenta previa ) used to fast a lot and breastfed for 2 plus years, it started with lost of appetite, food sensitivities, insomnia, constipation hemmorhoids, bleeding, adrenal fatigue, dehydration, low blood pressure, anemic, dizzy. 30 days before a mysterious gut issues, undigested food in stools, gastritis, h pylori, pain numbness, shocks in the entire left side of the body, left ear tinnitus, left jaw pain, dental issues ( never had in life ) left eye painful blurr, horrible cramps, head spasms, extreme thirst, fingers stuck, ( I got IV fluids ) post that adrenal fatigue/ crisis, shocks all over the body, every muscle in the body fell so loose, I thought I'll die... i never felt good with meds as i knew it was just shutting down the symptoms to give rise to more, anorexic, I immediately started bone broth with tender boiled lamb meat, liver, and electrolytes ( tender coconut water) when I didn't have anything I ate some fruit or honey, it was recovering me but slowly, I have lost another 5 kilos in a week. Hair loss, muscle weakness, constipated, recently diarrhea with undigested food, I was bedridden for 30 days.. I'm able to walk slowly now but the internal tremors ( when i dont eat enough ) , heart palpitations ( when I eat) weakness and unpredictable bowels and mood. I tried eggs, salmon, but bloodpressure drops, and I can't try any other meat( makes me super dehydrated) apart from bone broth and the meat in it( even that gives palpitations) fresh meat from butcher, pressure cooked for an hr. What do i do ? I have gone to so many doctors with so many reports, but they give me antacids, antidepressants, laxatives, multivitamin. Which hasn't helped.
      Shouldn't I quit ? Is this not for me...
      I bumped onto your video and thought this is it.. but I'm not getting anywhere , family is frustrated with my experiments.

    How exactly did you do a 4-1 fat to protein ratio? Pour tallow and butter over everything?

    How would you go about increasing appetite? I lose appetite when I increase fat intake. I’m already skinny

      I started my journey at 69 pounds so I needed to find ways to eat enough. I couldn't eat a steak for at least 6 months because it was so incredibly filling. So this is why I created a lot of my recipes like carnivore brownies and carnivore ice cream because these are much more hyper palatable than eating plain meat but also do not cause issues. Those recipes are on my Instagram!
