... In 8 parts.
... R.I.P. Kenneth Williams (22nd February 1926 - 15th April 1988)
Kenneth Williams was a genius, and Michael Sheen's performance is stunning.
There wasn't a single tear during this whole film until his mom was just standing there at front of the door with his cup of tea...I completely lost it.
It's obvious that Kenneth Williams suffered from depression for the majority of his adult life. Despite his talents as a comedic performer, the actor struggled with issues of self worth, identity, and constantly feeling set apart from others.
The repression of his sexuality is a key point to who he was in his personal life. Williams knew he was gay, never in denial about it but rarely acted upon it and came to view it with a sense of deep loathing. His increasing health problems compounded his fragile mental state.
In the end, he would never achieve a sense of contentment and happiness. These would forever elude him. One can only hope that death has provided him comfort in a way life never did.
Thank you for uploading this. I watched them all. A very moving film. Michael Sheen has him down to a fine art. His voice and mannerisms are spot on. RIP KW.
GREAT script, GREAT directing, GREAT acting. What a great country to produce such a film!
Very sad but beautifully acted. I'm now near certain Michael Sheen can do anything
The coroner asked "Could the pills have been taken accidentally?"
"The doctor replied "It is possible, but not likely."
That last bit just breaks my heart. Rest in peace, Kenneth.
Michael Sheen a highly underated actor!
That was brilliant, and so richly deserved by Kenneth Williams. One can only deal with the material one is given. Hence, autre temps autre moeurs for Williams. Look at the comedy of his contemporaries. Much of it seems dated and somewhat corny these days. Similarly the "material" his life provided for the genius who is Michael Sheen, to submit such a bravura performance (in virtually every scene). was fantastic. I've seen Williams on Parky and he is WONDERFUL! What a remarkably strong and courageous man to suffer THAT life without huge drug and alcohol addiction. One can still have reasonable self esteem, but still be dreadfully depressed. Vale Kenneth, Great stuff Michael
That was amazing and haunting. Michael Sheen once again proves his genius. Thankyou for uploading!!
the woman who plays Louis is so timid and sweet, that final scene made me wanna cry!!! excellent show loved every minute :D thanks for the upload x
Oh god, Michael Sheen did such a good job I'm almost in tears right now!
Thank you thank you thank you for posting this,
I live in America and I was afraid I'd have to wait years to see it!
Thank you!

Fantabulosa is a superb drama
For those interested I thought I would mention the fact the film score has been changed on the DVD release
This in my opinion is a great shame because the original as per this version captures Kenneths despair perfectly
Thanks for posting Fantabulosa on CZcams
i live with my parrents at the age of 39 but im not at all unhappy
i had friends who died at an early age in prety much this manner so this pic realy hit home
im so glad that i'm a real optimist and always see the good things in life even at the blackest of moments
"OH WHATS THE BLOODY POINT!" Just watched this again, why? cos I love it.
Oh Michael Sheen. How lovely you are.
Am in tears watching this. Kenneth, you have no idea how much you were loved. RIP my friend. x
Poor Kenny.... Someone who had so many fans and friends; but died so lonely RIP 😭
Such a sad ending of a great comedy actor. RIP Mr Williams.
Well as a lasting legacy and tribute to his life I think Sheen did a fantastic job and Mr Williams would be proud.
Kenneth Williams always has and always will bey favourite. Thank you for uploading this. I missed it when it was on.
As most great comedians, Mr. Williams was able to make others laugh all the while his own personal life was a misery and essentially tragic. I think Harold Lloyd was the only comedian out of ALL of them who led a relatively happy and productive life/career: although early on he lost part of his right hand in an explosion accident on the set of one of his very early silent comedies. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you so much for posting this for Yanks such as me.
R.I.P Kenny xxxx will be truley missed =( 😭😭
Wow I didn't expect these tears to come to my eyes watching this. So sad. I grew up on Carry Ons and Willow The Wisp. He was one if a kind Kenneth was.
Brilliant portrayal by Michael Sheen. How sad that he left his Mum t
BarrieT i don't believe he killed himself i think overdosed by accident. i myself suffer with bowel issues like him and all you want is the pain to stop that's what i think he did.
thank you for these :)
your absolutly right we tend to forget that depression is a disease not a state of mind deep depression is not some type of dip that you can easaly wisk away by saying that the sun will come out tomorrow its a dark mood that simply takes over everything
now we all have depressive moments but those are just dips not deep depression
So sad that his poor old mum had to be the one to find him. Funny guy, I never knew he was that lonely and tormented when I watched him as a kid...
Im sure he had some nice times in his life.
This film seems to focus on his later life mainly and his illness.
Its pretty grim.
But im certain he enjoyed a lot of his life.
I love how this movie illustrates why gay men must not repress themselves. On the DVD of this, you can make out the guard's "willy" through enough pressing the slow button.
KW had no idea how loved he was by the British public.
from what i have ;earned about him, he probably would have found the whole thing rather intrusive. For someone so frightened pf intimacy Ive heard people say who knew him think that the idea of an operation pushed him over the edge. its awful! I wish he'd ended more happy than he was!
rip sir
"What's the bloody point?"
Well, if I wasn't feeling anxious about being single before, I SURE AM NOW!
@Rentaghost76 just seeing his photo would push you to tears
A brilliant actor/comedian but also very tragic, similar to Robin Williams.
@theprospecttavern yes I know that's why I suggested that job.
He had a half sister called Pat. How come she wasn't there. His father was an alcoholic and hated his son. He was close to his mum but i thought his mum knew he was gay not a-sexual. RIP Kenneth Williams.
I mean I didn't even know kenny like met him because I am only 11 but imwas crying at the end I would of ever thought he would of killed himself but nobody knows do they
Was there anything really wrong with williams digestive system and if so what was? It seems to be that some of it was due to anxiety as I have bowel problems that are some what like his.
@TheEchovoices they were unsure if it was 14th or 15th he died
Where is part 3?
All the parts are on here, and one follows the other.
What Is It With Coroners And Open Verdict When It Comes To Suicide...My Brother Was Found With A Rope Around His Neck And That Was Recored As An Open Verdict...
@kiriyama255 ....Barclays bank manager?
@LeaveItToPsmith lol. me too!
I had no idea he committed suicide.
Oh matron :-)!
why didn't he have therapy tonget to like himself
he wallowed in self pity for nowt
should have had operation
claire smith you understand that mental illness and depression was not well understood back then right? It’s also not known if he killed himself or accidentally overdosed which, considering the circumstances, is more likely. Another factor in this is that even if it was suicide, most people with depression or other mental illness are scared to get help. He was scared of intimacy so why wouldn’t he be scared to talk to someone about the intimate details of what goes on in his head. You need to be more open minded about this. Sorry for the rant but I have strong feelings on this topic
I have to admit, Claire, I agree with you. He seemed a very stupid bloke. All that rubbish he said about how he longed to be dead. It's not much fun when you think you shortly will be, I can tell you!
