San Martin VS. Heimdallr | 62 MAS Homage Comparison | The Watcher

- I wish there was a review like this when I bought my 1st 62MAS homage from AliExpress back before I started my channel. Since then, San Martin has gone up to 3 generations of the 62MAS homage while Heimdallr has stayed the same.
This is a critical comparison where all the design features are compared and scored based on the value-add manufacturing that has taken place on the construction of this watch in-order to determine a true value for money representation.
If you would like purchase with watch, then please consider using the affiliated AliExpress links below, no added cost & you are also supporting the channel!

San Martin bracelets and clasps are just on another compared to anything else available on AliExpress. I'd argue that they are better than quite a few microbrands and big brands too.
Yes agreed, mechanically they're superior but they still lack that final finishing touch to smooth off the edges. SM bracelets are still rather edgy around the links and clasps. Compared to Seiko which are totally smooth which adds comfort over a long period of wear
@@TheWatcherReviews The 62MAS needs to be on a tropic for that authentic homage look and the tropic strap supplied is up to the job!

Why in the world do you display the watches on those rectangles that are printed with images of other dive watches? It's like displaying a leaf against forrest camoflage.
Thats exactly why, they were then taken off those for the remainder. Don't want the viewer knowing exactly what they're look at just yet 😜
@@TheWatcherReviews u tell me. Lol
This is a great format.
It's nice to see a one on one comparison.
Love how thorough your comparison videos are, super quality stuff. Top stuff
Thank you Vin Diesel ! Keep subbed!
This format for comparisons is brilliant. Well done mate, keep it going 👍
Nice one Alix
Still haven't experienced the quality of san martin yet, definitely need to get one in! Love the green dial on the Heimdallr
their pilot flieger has amazing lume!
Very useful comparison. Thanks, man.
Great video, thanks !
I love that case back on the San Martin .
Good video. Really looking forward to see how you got that bezel off on a future J4TM episode.
It will be on there for sure!
Heimdallr looks very nice with that colour. San Martin hexagon logo looks great!
Nice vid👍
Love the intro track
San Martin dial features seem more well proportioned. Looks better with a chapter ring too. I can do without the lumed bezel insert. Both a handsome watches.
Watching now, commenting later. Can’t wait!👍
Great comparison review 👍🙏. So close!
Heimdallr for me. I would prefer a smaller size, but I like that it doesn’t have the chapter ring.
The fully lumed bezel on the San Martin looks too bling for me and doesn’t fit the vintage style. This watch deserves an aluminium bezel insert for the win!
I like the comment Craig. Spoken like a true enthusiast
@@neverknowinglyunders I would check out the fifty four 62mas which is the original dimensions and has an aluminum bezel. I would get one if I could find a replacement dial.
@@user-kw9qu2gz8v , I do need to check them out I did hear about them before. I think they are on wrwatches.com?
@@neverknowinglyunders I know they're on aliexpress and they have their own website too
Great comparison. I mean this with all respect, but in the beginning, the visual clash of the watches on those mats almost made me click away--and lose interest in the watches. Once the mats were removed from the frame, the watches looked stunning. I love your videos, btw. Just wanted to share my opinion. Keep up the good work!
I have a San Martin 62 Mas with the blue Dial in my Collection, I really find this watch amazing. Mine is also on that fantastic Bracelet. I paid for it 239,- Euros on EBay. I am total impressed how much Value for Money it offers.

I still have my SM version 3 a year later and the finishing on the dial and especially the hands still astounds me! Only thing I have never liked is the full lume bezel! Really wish I'd taken the option with just the lumed pip ....🤔
Great comparison! The dials are really nice. One thing of note: Your pads are way too busy. They significantly distract from the watches at the beginning of your video.
The v4 San Martin puts both of those to shame.
Does the San Martin bracelet use screw links? Can’t find out anywhere??🙏
Great video mate, debating both of these. Where did you order the San Martin from? Did you have to pay import tax to the UK? How
Much was it if so? Just got the sharky monster and the quality is amazing!

Hello, Nice vidéo. I have a question : is the heimdallr bracelet compatible with the San martin 62mas ? I’m looking for a steel bracelet for my San Martin, but they don’t propose the aftermarket part. I’m thinking about buying an heimdallr or steeldive bracelet, but i have no clue about compatibility… thank you !
It may very well fit
What’s the watch on wrist? I really like the bracelet and look of it. Great work.
Hey man
That is the Proxima MM300 in black and gold. Gorgeous watch..review coming very soon
How does the San Martin v3 compare to the v4??
Don't judge the scores on the bracelet, it's an optional extra and should be seen as separate from just the watch. If you insist on scoring a comparison between these two watches you should also do a comparison between both with the rubber strap, or no strap at all. In my opinion the 62MAS looks clunky on a bracelet and probably wears bigger because of the male end-links, I prefer it on a rubber waffle strap.
P.S. I like the Heimdallr more. The lumed bezel on the San Martin is a gimmick, watches have done just fine in the old days with only a lume pip at 12, and personally I just think the Heimdallr shark logo is just cooler. Also that chapter ring on the San Martin looks a bit weird, the Heimdallr looks cleaner without one.
He didn't use a loop to see the much higher quality finishing on the San Martín indices, hands brushing etc.
Please, the actual case dimensions, please...? Lug to lug? Ànd, the bracelet of Heimdallr seems to be the standard Oyster, 20mm tapering to 16, with 9 mm inner links, am I tight?
San Martin for 62MAS, Heimdallr for 6105.
You need to use a loop because you didn't or couldn't see the much better finishing on the dial and hands of the San Martín also the fit and finish was much better on the San Martín just look at the end links joining the watch head. I think as you own the other brand it influenced you even if you tried not to.
I have watched many reviews on CZcams with reference to the San Martin range of watches, but for some reason, I just cannot warm to them as a brand. Maybe if I had one in my hand, I may change my mind, but it just seems to be a watch without a soul. I am not putting down you guys that own them, as I really believe in, “To each his own”, but it’s just not for me. Great review as always.
I can kind of get where ur coming from. What San martin effectively do, is take the usual homage and refine it mostly with a better bracelet and clasp and small features here and there.
San Martin for me please! :P
I have the SM 62 mas in as, and the Heimdallr 62 mas bronze. The Heimdallr is on a quality leather strap, and the SM is on a top notch bracelet. Quality of the actual watch is comparable. One thing I noticed is the Heimdallr bezel has a superior action. We must remember, they come out of the same factory
San Martin is the only company that does the end links right on their watches
I actually own both! They are both stunning watches for pure value. What I dislike now about San Martin is that they stoped doing the drilled lugs on their cases. Why ? I would think to save money ? But it’s not a deal breaker for me I would still buy. I love both
What is a bubble crystal? A high domed crystal? Double domed? Can’t say I have heard or seen any crystals being advertised as bubble crystals before. The only mention of bubble I have heard is for the magnifier.
Bubble crystal is like a top hat crystal but the top hat has a straighter edge. The bubble sapphire is more of a high dome and curved sides. Give quite a bit of distortion around edges. More of a vintage style. Im sure its called something, i just call it a bubble crystal
San Martin all the way. I owned an original 62MAS (regrettably sold it) and the MAS is as near to the original as its possible to be. Just a tad larger which is spot on. Outstanding homage
Well you're going to love whats coming soon, a homage which is true to the dimensions and shame on you for selling the Gen 62Mas !!!! 😬
@@TheWatcherReviews Regrettably I just have to knotch this one up as another quality decision on my part! Don't get me started on the watches I once owned but sold which include Heuer, Omega, (better stop there)...!
Hahah it is what it is init. Atleast you had one. They do say it is better to have loved and lost
@@TheWatcherReviews I even had the 62MAS serviced and it ran really well - just pick it up and off it went. The pain....!
How do you like these compared to the steeldive? Is it even comparable considering the much bulkier dimensions and lack of bracelet?
Also I have that exact same gilt proxima ,which I absolutely love. There's a proxima titanium monoblock mm300 that I also want to try that lowers the weight a lot.
Yes thats why I didn't include the steeldive 62mas. Its constructed okayish, but its too bulky and so far away from the OG.
Regarding the Proxima, I actually prefer the weight of it, also I find titanium scratches so much easier
@@TheWatcherReviews I was wondering does the San Martin have the brushed center section on the hands? You mentioned the Heimdallr hands do but I could only tell that the hands on the San Martin were bevelled.
The san martin doesn't.
From what I've seen, heimdallr uses really good quality dials and hands, san martin uses the same hands as heimdallr but their dials are simpler. San martin refines their watches a little more
I prefer Heimdallr
I like the content of your videos I just wish the sound quality was better and you spoke a little more loud and clear. Have a really hard time hearing you quite often.

If i buy Which one should I choose?
Did you watch the video?
That's the point of the video, it is up to you. For a more classical interpretation its either heimdallr or san martin v1. If you like a more moderised interpretation then go for san martin v3.
you should get FIFTYFOUR 62mas!!!😆
🤣🤣
I purchased a San Martin Submariner black dial. I loved everything about the watch except I could not get over the logo. The hexagon. To me it's stood out like a sore thumb and did not like it. So I sold it and am now waiting for the Chronos Submariner black dial. What are your thoughts about that hexagon San Martin. I would rather it just say Saint Martin. Thank you for your reply
Hi , I actually prefer the hex logo over the printed text, but the san martin applied brushed logo is better. It really is such a personal thing though and i only liked the hex when i saw it in person
Aren't these really made in same factory?.... Kinda like Yukon/Escalade
Not they're not made in the same factory. I think heimdallr have used lugyou's factory for stuff. But in China, suppliers will offers designs of all customers to everyone. A subscriber did once breakdown the factories for the major brands
Ball bearing bezel is more OG innit bruv
Not really experienced them u know. Just bought a skx033 with that ball bearing style but its effed. So haven't seen it in action
@@TheWatcherReviews I saw a review of the San Martin SN040-G2 Fifty Fathoms, apparently it has ball bearing bezel. It sounded firm and solid compared to the cheap noise the ratchet type makes.
Is Heimdallr really blogger LUG to LUG???
San Martin ist the clear winner.
San Martin's logo is why I own zero San Martin watches. I do not like it at all.
Is it just me or the finish of Heimdallr hands is pretty bad? Just look at the seconds hand - seems scratched. SM hands look much better in the macro. Another thing - Heimdallr bezel should not be misaligned. This is my biggest fear when buying watches from China, I'll rather stick to non-divers.
He needs to use a loops the San Martin QC miles better so yes you're right about the hands, indices general case finishing.
No that's my bad. I modded my heimdallr by changing dial colour and scratched the hands
Heimdallr loses 10 points for the name 🤣. What the hell were they thinking when they named that company?
Looool its not bad, they have one of the best logo's, come on, compared to the likes of 'Phylida' and 'Corguet' haha
@@TheWatcherReviews yeah, their logo is pretty good.
I would say San Martin and Steeldive are much worse. Hemdallr is actually a God in norse mythology.
@@MuhButtsBeenWiped lol, I can’t stand the logo. I think it looks cheap and nasty. I prefer the San Martin one shown to that shark. Not that I like any of the Chinese watch sellers logos.
If only you didn’t have to buy so many watches to get your own logo applied.
The heimdallr has that ugly, cheap looking, blue anti reflective coating.
Well done you put me to sleep after 5mins
You had a good sleep though?
San martin are number 1 the end
