  • Intended for this to go out yesterday but here's a quick video on Gua Sha! This scraping technique comes from Eastern medicine but I just got my own Gua Sha tool so I wanted to dive in on the benefits, applications and techniques that can be done with this tool.

The lady that taught me network security in computer science classes, she told me about this, and her explanation of it was that, just as we sometimes have to scrape dead skin off our bodies using exfoliation, there are also pockets of dead or blood-restricted tissues beneath the skin. And by scraping, you get blood back to those areas, and allows the body to clean out the lifeless tissue and/or return life to the tissues that are not dead.

    I had serious weird illness,
every time I slept, (and which i had weird lethargic times and that's weird too because i had light amnesia) after I woke up, my chest and abdomen section had high heat, almost like 38 degrees or more. and it's descent in heat slowly after.
for 2 days I just ate paracetamol and it's didn't help at all.
and for 3rd day, my mom suggest to give me kerokan. my whole back are red, but around left upper shoulder it's blackened, which my mom said that's where the concentration of wind reside more.
after that, the weird illness is gone. my lethargic is gone too.
In Indonesia we just use coin and for child we use garlic.
and don't do kerokan too often, it's bad.

I tasted this last November when I learnt toksen massage in Chiang Mai. My massage teacher who was graduated in Chinese medecine, give me a mix of thai massage, toksen, cupping and gua Sha on my shoulder. Painful but after a moment great smooth of the shoulder (no pain). She told be gua Sha is the ancient technic of cupping therapy.

HM Massage. I have thought about going into massage therapy off and on for sometime. I have spoken to a massage school in Arizona and the owner said that I should choose a different profession, because I'm small and I would injure my body quickly on my future average clients. What do you think as a massage therapist? Have you felt pain in your fingers, thumbs, wrist?

    • @kyleeharvey5646

As an lmt speaking from experience, it is hard on your body. But it is up to you to stretch, exercise and use proper body mechanics to keep you in business, there are also easier modalities such as lymphatic massage. I'd look into a different school if I were you.

I have come to realise that western world physical therapy like USA,CANADA tried put a cover on massage therapy back in the day so their profession can prosper.Physical therapist took lots of massage therapy tools and methods because massage has been around over 200 to 300 years let that sink in,always wondered why PT's had this dissasociation with MT's.Physical therapy first came on stream in the first or second world war there names then were technician aids their jobs were to attend to soldiers who damaged limbs in the war yes people thats some history lessons for you.A medical doctor or medical practitioner got the idea to take to the medical schools to be approved and "whalla" physical therapy is born. The sad thing about this is the lies and fake stories to belittled a practise thats been around before most countries gained any independance.I would suggest that Massage therapy boards world wide must be united to have their Art and methods improved thoroughly with studies through sciences etc those improvements its going to boost the moral of MT's everywhere .
