Your video saved me from tearing down my bike and testing my stator, rectifier, all the wiring and plugs, and starter. And I don’t have to buy anything. Bravo sir

Thanks for showing how to adjust cable up to soleniod. Now it start smooth again.
If adjust screw are stuck, it was so for me, you may needed a polygrip. There is a metalldisk underneath, grip it with polygrip at end of disk not across, hold tight then turn adjust screw with a wrench, slow and easy. Hope this help.

This worked on my 2007 Boulevard c90!!! When trying to start it there was no noise(besides when u turned the kill switch back on) and battery was charged & didn’t even try to turn over when I pressed the start button. Few hand turns on the solenoid front screw & didn’t work when I turned to the left, turned to the right & it tightened the slack & she cranked right up!!

    Thanks for posting this...
Question. Before you fixed this. When you went to start it, did it click like it sounded like a bad battery or bad starter at first?
I replaced my battery, ignition switch, starter, starter relay, stator, ground wires. Pulled the kickstand, clutch, and kill switches and cleaned them all the way.
    Ensured a solid ground.
When I try to start it, it still only clicks. The last two things I think it can be is the wiring harness or the de-compression.
I pulled the de-compression cable and found the cable to be completely stretched out. I ordered a new one. It says with a new one to adjust it after 1000 miles...
So. Do you know if an improper adjustment on the de-compression cable system would click and not engage the starter?
This is so far the best video I have seen on this topic for the 98 Suzuki Intruder VL1500 I have seen to date.
    Thanks for posting!

Also... The front cable calls for a 6mm gap and the rear cable calls for 1mm of play (slack) in the service manual. Just a FYI.

this sounds exactly what mine is doing... at times it would start right up, other times the starter would kick in but not crank the engine, like the battery was low. then i noticed sometimes it would sound like a release in the exhaust like a small backfire then it would crank and start.

Mine done the clicking like a dead batter or jank starter, adjusted the cable and it started right up

How many miles on your bike? Have you had transmission issues too?

So what would happen if you replace that solenoid?

I'll tell u putting the air box on the 1500 intruder is very hard to do..
I can not get mine on enough to tighten the box on the carbs

Same to me. Screw the screw out as much you can on metall ringholder. Then gently press down carborator at end, just a bit at gaslock. Press down at center of airbox, over air intake. Hope this help.

I have a question my friend? Does this decompressor device have anything to do with valves? Or if it does not work correctly, will the valve fail?
