Want your thoughts on if you want to hear a story on how this 1919 Pierce Arrow came to be. And a further look into it and starting up and running.
posi rear end test
zhlédnutí 66KPřed 15 lety
Testing rear end after welding planitary gears to make posi.
Will welding the gears to the housing, keep the axles from breaking?
How many miles on your bike? Have you had transmission issues too?
Zuzuky intruder 1500 2002 cuando carienta bien cariente ce apaga cuar es erpobrema
I have a question my friend? Does this decompressor device have anything to do with valves? Or if it does not work correctly, will the valve fail?
When doing this be sure to heat up the "basket" with a blow torch. The basket on most rear end models are made of cast iron which can be welded but only at a hot temperature will you be able to get a solid structural weld when welding the gears to the basket. Been a welder for 5 years now I've picked up a thing or 2. Take the extra 5 minutes to preheat the gears and the basket before welding. You'll be better off in the long run. Otherwise the welds to the basket will crack under pressure
Lol
Wow I'd be grateful to see such a car start
Thanks for showing how to adjust cable up to soleniod. Now it start smooth again. If adjust screw are stuck, it was so for me, you may needed a polygrip. There is a metalldisk underneath, grip it with polygrip at end of disk not across, hold tight then turn adjust screw with a wrench, slow and easy. Hope this help.
This a really good video, to the point and without dismantling much, well done
Finally an actual explanation now I can finally get mine running
Please yes! Tell us more!!
Hey man thank you so much for this videos it help me a lot and save me from buying parts dint need thank you a lot!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Please show more of this super interesting and unique Pierce speedster!
Can you pop start while this is going on?
Your video saved me from tearing down my bike and testing my stator, rectifier, all the wiring and plugs, and starter. And I don’t have to buy anything. Bravo sir
I'll tell u putting the air box on the 1500 intruder is very hard to do.. I can not get mine on enough to tighten the box on the carbs
Operator error
Same to me. Screw the screw out as much you can on metall ringholder. Then gently press down carborator at end, just a bit at gaslock. Press down at center of airbox, over air intake. Hope this help.
so wheres the end product ?
My spiders are wearing but everything else seems ok....may weld it and send it while I save for 456 setup
Thanks a lot for this Video!
Will this cause it idle high? Noticed mine will idle high at times when i pull to a stop
No it won't, the decompression system is for starting only. High idle could be an air leak
Same problem
Or carb needs to be cleaned.
Adjust your choke coble
So what would happen if you replace that solenoid?
Wish there was before and after
This worked on my 2007 Boulevard c90!!! When trying to start it there was no noise(besides when u turned the kill switch back on) and battery was charged & didn’t even try to turn over when I pressed the start button. Few hand turns on the solenoid front screw & didn’t work when I turned to the left, turned to the right & it tightened the slack & she cranked right up!!
Thank you for the video. It helped me a lot. From Brazil. Boulevard C1500 (C90).
Thanks for posting this... Question. Before you fixed this. When you went to start it, did it click like it sounded like a bad battery or bad starter at first? I replaced my battery, ignition switch, starter, starter relay, stator, ground wires. Pulled the kickstand, clutch, and kill switches and cleaned them all the way. Ensured a solid ground. When I try to start it, it still only clicks. The last two things I think it can be is the wiring harness or the de-compression. I pulled the de-compression cable and found the cable to be completely stretched out. I ordered a new one. It says with a new one to adjust it after 1000 miles... So. Do you know if an improper adjustment on the de-compression cable system would click and not engage the starter? This is so far the best video I have seen on this topic for the 98 Suzuki Intruder VL1500 I have seen to date. Thanks for posting!
Also... The front cable calls for a 6mm gap and the rear cable calls for 1mm of play (slack) in the service manual. Just a FYI.
this sounds exactly what mine is doing... at times it would start right up, other times the starter would kick in but not crank the engine, like the battery was low. then i noticed sometimes it would sound like a release in the exhaust like a small backfire then it would crank and start.
Mine done the clicking like a dead batter or jank starter, adjusted the cable and it started right up
😂😂😂😂 get that shit
Poor Grand Prix
I have full posi on my daily and the only time I have issues is when it rains
Nice demo car lol
Sounds like a diesel motor
I just fell in love
might sound bad but I kinda like it love the video LOL!
Was this one of the posi welded rear ends?
Can anybody tell me how well these welds hold up im thinking about welding the rear end on my 4x4
Like a champ if done right! Not something you want to do if you drive on the street much..
just use tig no splatter and it's stronger ,,, ive been welding pipe for 35 yrs
NEVER use BRAKE CLEANER to clean for welding. Brake cleaner can release a toxic and deadly gas when heated up (while welding)
you can get chlorine free brake cleaner but I prefer varsol or alcohol, its actually the welding arc (ultra violet light) that reacts with the chlorine and creates mustard gas...it can create gas on a patch of chlorine 50 foot away from the light traveling
I welded the diff on my friends car the best thing to do is pull it and weld it with a stick welder using high amps with 11018 rod or spray arc on a wire feed. and I am a welder by trade not some average garage mechanic with a 110V wire feed.
Why doesn't he just drop carrier out and remove ring gear to ensure slag does not get inside anywhere? Keep left and right hardware separate and put shims back in the way they came out. And use a arc welder if using a mig preheat that carrier and spiders before welding.
The Dukes would be proud !!!!
Definitely THE way to go!
Sounds like a tractor
just in my opinion and so far has worked well with no failing or broken welds.... 220 mig might be too light as well for this. I work in an industrial welding shop and used the welder at work .... millermatic 350 mp running on 480 volt 3 phase power source setting my welder up to about 28.5 volts..... aka, spray weld. very strong very clean literally no spatter if done properly . so in my opinion I would use a much more powerful welder than 220 just to be on the safe side ,,,, cuz when you think about it this is youre differential afterall ... do you really wanna be questioning youre welded diff. while full throttle down the 1/4 mile .. or whatever youre intended use is
basically only for drifters...
drag guys too
seyepher Offroad guys too
I wanna do bad ass burn out haha
Obviously no one on here who makes lame comments has ever drove a trail rig or used it to make a drift car. I have owned plenty of welded rear differentials and never had a problem. I have owned Detroit lockers and granaded them. You can spend the 600-1000 on a diff locker or you can weld it for next to nothing. If you have huge tires or tons of power then it would probably be best for a Dana axle with real diff lockers. Though for the average Joe this is a cheap way to go.

Ruff as guys ! Don't do it . It will break shortly after . Get yourself a limited slip centre and fit it .
its a perfect solution for cheap and easy locking diff. LSD's often are very expensive for certain type of cars, me as a drifter use this method to have some fun, if only cost me like 50 bucks for a diff and welding it is free. LSD for my specific car would cost 600 bucks :/
Funny how you said it woulf break even though mine is still in tact 4 years on haha, noob that knows fuck all lol, only annoying thing about a welded diff is clunking at low speeds..
Not all of us have that kind of budget nor concern
+Shane Anderson LSDs don't work very well for off roading
don't forget to clean any remaining Break cleaner out! welding on certain types of break cleaner can Kill you almost instantly!
That is what I was gonna comment sound like guy inhaled to much brake clean already
What do you clean it with ?
Don't most brake cleaners just evaporate anyway?
you dont do this on expensive everyday drivers
jerome Safi only if your not a pussy 👌🏻
can you do this in a front differential on an ATV?
It won't steer if you do I tried it on my mud truck and it would only go straight in the mud.
Hmmm? Eaton posi;$500 vs insurance deductible,$500 + ticket for wreckless driving/causing an accident $???
