- Cyphastrea are one of the hottest corals in reef keeping right now. This is a great beginner friendly coral that can find a home in a variety of tanks ranging from mixed reefs to shadier sections of an SPS dominated tank. They have a very unique appearance and come in a wide array of color variants so if you are a collector, Cyphastrea will definitely keep you busy tracking down all the different colors.

Cyphastrea has always been my favorite, finally got a branching variety years ago and a freak heater malfunction killed it shortly after. Can’t wait to get my hands on another one!

I jist got a branching pink and red one still learning about this one
I like Cyphastrea because they are basically LPS in SPS encrusting form, what I mean is they "EAT" like LPS.
I wish these were more readily available in Europe, would love to have one.
Very difficult to find the branching meteor shower variant, that's quite impressive to see in such high resolution, thanks for the video.
Great video.
Thanks!
Just got a meteor shower and red cyphastrea. I can’t wait to see them color up!
I am actually just about to buy the WWC skittle bomb! perfect timing
We have three cyphastrea corals in our tank. Purple, Green, and Blue. Purple likes direct light, blue likes indirect light (high up in the tank but off to the side of a light), and green likes low light. Funny how they have such different needs.
Love cyfastria
As usual a great video. Thank you very much. Do you have a recipe about diy amino acid additive
Yay another tidal Gardens video and I'm the first here....happy days
My alkalinity drops from around 8.4 to 7.8 worst 7.5 every 5-7 days in my 40 gallon , using Red Sea coral pro brings up the alk to 8.4 doing a 5 gallon water change weekly but dipping that much in alk weekly ,will that stress out the corals since it’s going back up from around 7.8 back to 8.4ish doing a water change ? I am asking because I was given a fender bender cyphasteria , and wanted to make sure the dip in alk and raising by thag much with a water change won’t bother it ,as I mostly have softies and a few lps as well.
Thanks
Welcome
You think this coral would do good with a us marine current led light? I haven’t had success with any other sps, but you say these don’t like strong light
I'd love to know what species the blue branching Cyphastrea is in the beginning of the video. :)
I use soda lime reactor with skimmer to stop the co2 being smashed into tank water I don't have to buff dkh as much if my ph is ok and need to buff dkh I use sodium carbonate if my ph is low but dkh is ok I change the soda lime granuals normally they turn blue I been reefing for 25 years this is my most stable set up oh I use tropic Marin reef pro I allso started using aquaforest np pro and probiotic s sweet
Mounting tips?
I have the decadia branch pale blue but the polips don't petrude but it is skinning over the base and that part is an aqua green with red polips don't know y
LOL... guess I've been mispronouncing the name all this time. Nice video.
Noob question. What does “rainbow” mean when used to describe coral.
I've been in the game several years and I don't know...... I'm in it for the brown. I like brown.
👍🏽
I tried one but it just didn't do well as soon as i got it, and I tried in low lighting. :/
Haha I got mine 1.5 month ago... Stuggle like crazy.. polyps never got out.. 2 week Ago it start to grow like crazy.. and this week.. he's just dying... Loll
This coral is weird for me some do well while others just die on me no matter where i put them in the tank. Everything else does great for me except this lol
Top shelf aquatic stairs high and world wide coral stairs moderate light
Omg
Than....I have a meteor shower in 300 par and it's been growing good for a year. Polyps are not out wide and it looks almost like an encrusting monti.
