  • Cyphastrea are one of the hottest corals in reef keeping right now. This is a great beginner friendly coral that can find a home in a variety of tanks ranging from mixed reefs to shadier sections of an SPS dominated tank. They have a very unique appearance and come in a wide array of color variants so if you are a collector, Cyphastrea will definitely keep you busy tracking down all the different colors.

I like Cyphastrea because they are basically LPS in SPS encrusting form, what I mean is they "EAT" like LPS.

We have three cyphastrea corals in our tank. Purple, Green, and Blue. Purple likes direct light, blue likes indirect light (high up in the tank but off to the side of a light), and green likes low light. Funny how they have such different needs.

My alkalinity drops from around 8.4 to 7.8 worst 7.5 every 5-7 days in my 40 gallon , using Red Sea coral pro brings up the alk to 8.4 doing a 5 gallon water change weekly but dipping that much in alk weekly ,will that stress out the corals since it’s going back up from around 7.8 back to 8.4ish doing a water change ? I am asking because I was given a fender bender cyphasteria , and wanted to make sure the dip in alk and raising by thag much with a water change won’t bother it ,as I mostly have softies and a few lps as well.
