    $250k for 17 year breakeven is a bad deal like you stated. Just comparing that to the stock market or any reasonable investment, you're losing a ton of money. Even if you lowball at 4% that's close to double your investment ending around $486k or with 8% you'd be looking at $925k vs just breaking even and getting your initial investment back. With preowned panels and doing it yourself, yes, it would be worth it. But definitely not if the electricity is SO CHEAP! That is just wild!

    Great podcast . Interesting regarding the black out on CB’flys - I was recently recommended to avoid LED spotting from commercial light bars especially above CBs in QT ( even low wattage ) causing confusion in the water column when feeding .

    Can you emphasize on cycling with corals again? I am starting my 200 gallon tank soon and I'm very confused. The forums are in a civil war, some people are adamant on letting their tank mature for corals, some people put corals first week. As a beginner, even If I can put corals first week, the question is SHOULD I? I see you are basically starting the tanks with "dry rocks" or no rocks at all. Is there a path I could talk the could help me with the least amount of algae with most corals? Should I do what you did, buy a bunch of corals and put them in my tank. Although my biggest problem with this technique is I don't have the experience to figure out whats wrong if there is something wrong. I might buy hundred of corals just to kill them all.

    I wish we would have talked about Copperbands at Aquashella! The secret to Copperbands seems to be getting them to eat with frozen clams from the asian market. I got this method from another channel on youtube (reefdudes, I think) Once they start eating it seems like they'll shift to mysis without any issue.

    What causes the bubbles to be trapped like that at 1:45? is it a substance secreted by the coral itself? or a film like build up from something in the tank? it looks harmless, and somewhat beautiful, but im not quite sure.....

    Truly awesome video. Thanks Than and Elliot. Did Elliot mention the dosage and duration for methelyene blue? I went back and found where he says its been a game changer but didn't hear how he uses it. It's so nice to see people who actually care about the individual fish needs and about it surviving. This hobby is brutal on these living animals.

    Hi my experience with hard to feed copper bands is feed them mussels,,its what i do when i collect them from the wild ,,get your mussel ,,using a screw driver flat head and hammer smash a long split in the shell of the mussel so the copper bands long snout can get in so other tank mates cannot eat it all or a larger split and attach it to a nori clamp,, either way you will see they love the mussels ..try it and see happy reefing

    What is Elliot's opinion on Safety Stop? There's formalin in safety stop, but I'm hesitant on using actual formalin due to the carcinogenetic properties.... Would safety stop fall somewhere into the 80/20 method of fish qt? Or am I wasting money on safety stop?

    • @saucytabasco
      @saucytabasco Před 11 dny

      I cant speak for elliot but safety stop is methylene blue with formalin. The problem has been, they wont provide the MSDS/formalin %, so without that its hard to guage the efficacy of it to prophylactically treat the things you would be targetting with a formalin dip (uronema, brook, monogeans). This might suggest its at a very low concentration similar to ruby reef rally. So the TLDR is it cant hurt but if you want to do things right, just get methylene blue and formalin and skip the safety stop
