LPS videos literally taught me how to play with toys, I’m not kidding. Little autistic me would just line them up and not touch them until I watched a video and was like “OHHH! That’s what I’m supposed to do! Okay!” And then I’d just mimic the video word for word.

i did that too! i would usually just play youtube on my tv and make my lps say what they were saying. the vids were either music vids/speedpaints, or other lps vids. i would also copy some creepypasta audios too.
One of my professors worked for mattel earlier in her career and she casually dropped the fact that she designed the packaging for LPS during class one day. I don't think she realized at the time how big of a deal that was to people our age, but the whole class flipped and we basically spent the last hour of class talking about things she had worked on in her career. I already loved her before that, but she gained some major respect that day.

I remember growing out of my lps phase, so I put all my lps stuff into a box and handed it to a random little girl at a McDonald’s. She was wearing an lps t-shirt so I figured they would have a good home. She and her mom were so excited. It’s probably one of my happiest memories.

I remember lying on the floor and walking my LPS around just to watch their bobbleheads in action, they were so satisfying to me. When gen 3 came and they made all the heads stiff as a rusty door it really turned me (and I think a lot of others) off. Still have a big box of over 300 gen 2 LPS under my bed, going through them is such a nostalgic trip.

as a kid i was absolutely distraught when i saw the redesign. i’m pretty sure that's a big reason i stopped playing with them.
i'm 18 now so i probably definitely wouldn't be playing with them anyways lol but part of me wonders how much longer i would have played with them..
they were my favorite toys and the only ones i kept when i decided to get rid of my toys haha.
Watching this made me realize LPS CZcams was what sparked my love for horror. I couldn’t recall why I liked the genre so much from a young age until you started the LPSTube section. I watched all the episodes of the LPS: Creepy Carnival series that this LPSTuber I was obsessed with made. Like that series genuinely shaped me as a person. This has been a crazy nostalgia trip. Sadly I don’t have any of my pet shops from my childhood. I gave most away when a community members house burned down and I wanted the daughter to have toys. I think I donated the rest once I was a tween. I wish I kept the rest I had left but my mom pressured me to stop playing with toys as I got older.
I was obsessed with these because they were one of the few “girl toys” that weren't aggressively pink and sparkly....that didn't last long
This is so accurate and you hit the nail on the head of why I like them, on top of that though they were plastic they’re ere really well made and not cheaply made.
I heavily relate, I mentioned this a lot to others when I was young. My mom/family always tried to get me barbies or something and I complained each time about how 'girly' and pink they were, which thankfully they caught on too and just started getting me lps only
I mean, LPS was pretty girly but not excessively.
I also lOved the natural colours on older models
This happened to me with the original Bluebird Polly Pockets. They had quite a bit of pink and pastel colours but they weren't focused on stuff like hair and fashion, and I was fascinated by the engineering and design aspects of the toys themselves. The first time I saw an advert for the newer lines with bigger dolls I got FURIOUS.

I had the original 90s Littlest Pet Shops, and learning they redesigned just a little after I lost interest finally proves my mom right: I really was supporting the whole company myself via Christmas and birthdays.
when i was about 7 years old, i was walking with my parents in the middle of winter and i found one of those flesh colored mice on the sidewalk. my mom thought he was gross but i took home home and cleaned him and added him to my collection 😂

I also had a huge plastic tub of LPS animals and another of houses, accessories, etc which I sold because I wanted to be “mature” when I was 11. 11 year old me sold so many stuff I wish I hadn’t to seem “mature for my age”
Im glad I am not the only one who adored that show. Sad that it ended up being canceled. I would have loved to have seen more of it.
I am now old but I had no idea anything after gen 2 existed and I thought everyone hated gen 2 because when it came out my entire group of friends and I, basically every little girl in school, hated how goofy they looked. We really preferred the realistic design of gen 1 and I remember when we played with our pets if anyone had a pet with the wonky eyes, or god forbid, glitter or a design painted on it, all our pets would shun it and say it was a clown who'd escaped from the circus. (Lizards and birds got a pass, because it made sense at the time.)
I loved playing with my LPS toys and it made me really sad to see how cheap and terrible they've gotten, but I agree with you that it's not the fault of the people who designed the toys, but the people who were supposed to bring the design to life.

I had the DS gamed, borrowed a Wii game, and owned a lot of LPS as a kid. I even had that one dog LPS with the heterochromia that's kind rare or something. My sister and I were absolutely obsessed with LPS gen 2. Like, friends of the fam would buy us a couple Barbies and we literally only used them as background characters in our LPS stories. The barbies would die tragically in the first five minutes of playing leaving the protagonist LPS an alone wanderer at the cusp of their own adventure and that was the extent that we cared about dolls vs LPS. LPS was my first step into writing. I had so many different story lines, each one of my pets had names and I would continue the story everyday as a kid. I have had a life long struggle with the idea of growing up and adulthood and had to face it when I moved out 2 years ago. I donated most of my toys, but kept my LPSs. They are my childhood and sometimes I pick them up and become a kid again. 😊
I was so into lps as a kid it was my whole personality, I remember trading and customizing them and spending hours watching youtube soap operas other kids made with the pets, It was so fun

LPSHannah’s COPPA announcement/last video literally had me in tears. I loved her videos as a kid when I was into LPS and it was absolutely heartbreaking knowing she had to quit something doing something she loved bc of COPPA. It was even more heartbreaking hearing her start crying/tearing up too and then pack up her mascot with a couple of her other established/iconic characters at the end of the video. I watched her goodbye video so many times wishing it wasn’t true. It still makes me sad thinking about it :(
Tbh I think Hasbro did a good job making them more memorable. The old Littlest Pet Shop was too mundane and imho there would have been too much competition from similar animal & pet-themed toys. I'm glad that the modern 2000's LPS turned out they way they did.
Yeah. I grew up with the modern Littlest Pet Shop designs and although I liked their original designs WAY BETTER (because they looked more lifelike back then), it was a good marketing strategy for on Hasbro’s part. It’s bad enough that LPS was already competing with the Calico Critters.
LPS popular is the reason why i started to put ACTUAL MASCARA on my lps when they cried and used my finger and a glass of water to do TEAR DROPLETS AAAAAAAA

Actually she used the original version of the song by Imogen Heap, it’s called “Hide and Seek”. Everybody knows it for the “mm whatcha say” part but the whole of it is really great too. Sophie is one of the best and I think she was really a pioneer in the early LPSTube community. I was young enough that I watched some of her old one-off videos like “Bella’s Dream” and the original version of the “Evil Queen” videos before she took them down, this was back in 2008. Brings back a lot of memories!

I had the originals back in the day!!! I had the cutesy kitty set! God I'm old.
My sister and I had two LPS horses as a kid, #523 and #560, and they served as the inspiration for an entire cinematic universe style game we would play. We didn't have a lot of toys of that size or style (I think the two we had were hand-me-downs) so we would buy Sculpey oven-bake clay and make our own animal toys, food, furniture, and props, with sets made of old shoeboxes. It became such a sprawling town that we put together some of them in a shadowbox frame and submitted it to the county fair, I believe under the name "Personified Animal Village" (a weirdly uncreative name for such an imaginative work now that I think about it). We won first prize, and I think the shadowbox with the town is still somewhere in my house. It's so funny to think that such a huge part of my childhood and one of my first creative outlets all began with two secondhand Littlest Pet Shop horses.
You just reminded me of the time I made a scale model of my house out of cardboard for my LPS toys. It was basic but I used so much paint and tape, I was so proud of it!
My best friend in elementary school was obsessed with LPS, but i was into pokemon. Every year she'd gift me an LPS figure on my birthday, and then go "oh i forgot you don't like them" and then TAKE BACK MY PRESENT and keep it for herself lmao

I had a friend with a huge LPS collection and we used to make up stories together. I vividly remember a pink alligator being my favourite, and she used to have a Blythe doll (one that actually resembled her from the show not the creepy blinking ones) that we used to always make die at the hands of the pets because we hated her in the show.

I started the series as a teenager, and looking back as an adult, there are so many things I would've done differently. I loved LPS as a kid and remember hating the new designs. I didn't mind gen 3 but preferred gen 2 and but hated gen 4 where the heads were fully detachable and had holes in them for accessories.
If they brought back some gen 2 sets as collectors sets I'd really enjoy that.
Me and my friend who I grew up with would always play with these, it's a running joke between us where we say "pretend your character asks for ice cream" or something like that. I thank this series so much, me and that friend are still besties to this day and the games we used to play helped me get into storytelling.

I used to collect lps toys and there was a magazine in Greece that I was obsessed with (I have no idea if it existed in other countries). The magazine had a competition in every chapter that gave away toys and I actually won once ! I don't remember much about what content was in the magazine itself other than the competition but I tried searching the internet for a sign of what contents they had but I didn't find much and I'm pretty sure they stopped selling them here a long time ago. Nostalgia really did hit hard with this video and I want to check which pets I have (I'm sure I have first, second and probably third generation toys) and check for fakes as well because I had no idea they existed audhshdhsbs it's so interesting learning about toy lines etc so I'm glad I came across this video !

Thought I should give y’all a different view of the community. I’m 19 now so I don’t make videos anymore but when I was younger I grew up in a very dysfunctional and abusive house. I had a friend that showed me lpstube and from then I was hooked. Me and her would watch lps popular and lps csi together. I started buying what I could, would barrow and trade with my friend and ask for nothing but sets and accessories for Christmas. Lpstube became my escape from my reality. As a child I could not only create my own world with absolute control and creativity, but also role play situations I had been in or seen to process and cope. I could do anything and everything with the pets. I had so many ideas for videos and such I still have my binders of 13 year me old with lps scripts, sketches, and designs . However I never finished videos or uploaded them believing they weren’t good enough which I fully regret. But yea I used to love watching the darker genres and the mature videos that dealt with heavy topics bc I didn’t feel alone anymore. I would be a very different person today if I never found lps.

bruh. I'm 18 now. i left the community when i was like 13 or 14, so it's surprising that it was only about 5 or 4 years since i left it.
i have been tempted to go back many times, but never did because i knew that i wouldn't actually have the same passion for it i had years ago. though i am also still tempted to collect every gen 1 and 2 lps for display. i made a few vids myself and they weren't the best quality. but i still enjoyed myself.

I had mostly the gen 4 LPS when I was younger but I never had issues with them "having too much personality" if anything, the personality they already had just gave me something to build off of. Like the yellow grumpy cat figure, that was a really important character in my little stories I made! Even a figure of one of characters that appeared in the show(Cupcake Sprinkles or somethin?), I used a lot! Not as the character they were in the show, I didn't watch show lol but as my own character.
I do really really wish I had the chance to collect more of the Gen 1-2 LPS while they were still being produced, and I love the look of Gen 5 now.

One of my favorites was the McDonald’s exclusive salamander. In my toy universe he was the most wise and mature and he was in love with the skunk. I lost the skunk on vacation and that gave him a tragic backstory. I was a very dramatic kid and I’m not ashamed of that.

Wow, I am amazed to see that LPStube was not just a french thing!! I use to play with LPS a LOT as a kid and CZcams at the same time. There were a lot of french lpstubers as well and I even did some of those lps videos when I got my first tablet. This was such a confortable place back then, and Im glad to share common memories with the toys on an international scale!

Great video, but I noticed that you didn't mention the "bobble in style" pets, which I understand because it seems like a lot of fans forgot about, but Hasbro released a few old-style LPS in around 2016,(Shortly after G4 were released) but it was very short lived as they made one line of it, and then went back to making more cartoonish pets. I remember people calling Hasbro and asking them for old LPS back for years before this happened, Lol
I will admit I once made a vampire lps short and it was a fun experience even if I cringe over it these days. My grandma saw me filming it and sent in a request to my girl scout troupe for a director or film badge because it technically counted. While that seems cringe or embarrassing, it was actually sweet because I think most parents/family members would be confused why a kid is filming their little animal toys and feel odd about it, but so many of the stories and effort going into them was pretty awesome for what they were that I imagine families were more often impressed. It's nice that we could become our own little show makers (no pun intended?) and still be kids or teens playing with our toys, while sharing in the fun with others. Tbh I still have all my lsp because of how much fun I had making those shorts or thinking up their own little stories.

The grip LPS: Popular had on me is so funny when you think about how hard multibillion dollar production companies work to capture young peoples attention lmao. It’s still permanently seared into my brain, I got so into it man. Looking at the clips now, it’s crazy how much work the creature actually put into it as just (I’m assuming) a kid in her bedroom.
The amount of gen 1’s that I recognize and had are apparently insane. I remember having a lot of them and going to my cousins house and being jealous of her gen 2’s but I still refused to trade any.

As someone who grew up playing with LPS along with being chronically online in the same time, I remember being DISGUSTED when I started seeing the gen 3 Lps in stores 😂 there where a couple I didn’t mind and even LIKED, but most of them just didn’t do it for nine year old me
