If you own an establishment that serves alcohol, don't mess with the liquor board They can make your life very hard and even unemploy you in the form of shutting you down if you don't comply with the law.

It's amazing how many of these situations could be avoided if these people just swallowed their pride and followed the rules.
Yeah, where I used to live was originally a dry county that changed to allow alcohol sales a few years back. A lot of establishments (mostly new bars and restaurants) tried to mess with the brand new liquor board (at least the people who were assigned to keep on eye on the county, not entirely sure how that all works) to get additional allowances that were not allowed in the set rules (there were set conditions for the county that were a bit more strict then the general standards usually set). Needless to say, quite a few restaurants got shut down (several were found to have started selling and serving alcohol before their license was approved and was in effect) and several bars never actually opened because they were forbidden from getting licenses because of the owners shenanigans cause they didn't like the rules.
And don't fire someone who might report you to the liquor board.

Recording just 1 of those "death threats" would be enough for the police to in turn give her a very hard time, both legally and freedom wise.
IDK. Being an Ontario, Canada resident I feel like they would just ask her nicely to stop making the threats. lol. Never heard of someone being jailed, or even fined, for making such threats. Not Murican law up here. Maybe it has happened and I've just never heard of it. COPS has taught me in America that kind of thing could get you in a bad spot. =]
edit: Especially if it's a small town, as mentioned, the local police are not likely to jail someone [in Canada] for threats unless there was past history.

I've seen that happen. Seen it in bars that I drank in, in bars my ex-wife tended bar at, and I don't doubt that it happens all over the place. But then bars ain't like they used to be anymore. Now they all seem to be yuppified, fancy places for suits and the golf course set to get drunk in. To me, a bar should be a dark hole in the wall, with neon beer signs, 1940s decor, grumpy regulars, and big pink mints in the urinals. A place where a dude can go after work and sit in the dim light and drink shots and beers, maybe shoot a couple games of pool, and if the owner happens to be drinking behind the bar, so what? It's _his bar!_

I used to work in a liquor store while I was in college. When you serve or sell alcohol you have your own liquor license. Anything you sell is on you and your license so you have the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime for any reason. I loved that part. Lol

This reminds me of the time I accidentally cheated on a university Physics mid-term. There were two classes for the course and one had the midterm on Tuesday and we had ours Wednesday at 3:30. A group of four of us went to the library Wednesday morning with the plan to study. One of the guys came in and said he had Yesterday's test. We thought great that will give us something to study against. I just assumed they would never use the same test. It took the four of us 6 hours to complete the test WITH OPEN TEXT BOOKS (this was before the internet). We were all terrified when the time came for the exam.
I am sure you can see where this is going.
Exact same test.
This story is the equivalent of, "this reminds me of the time when I accidentally killed a man."

Many years ago when I was in high school one of my teachers told us we'd be having an exam the day after. She started out by giving us all 3 sonnets and said our test would be one of those 3 (we had to write in our own words what we thought the sonnet was about), so go home and study them so we'd be ready for the next day.
I knew that teacher had 3 classes, and I also knew she had told all 3 classes the same. So, when I went home, and studied one of the 3 sonnets. I figured maybe I'd be lucky and I'd end up having the one I had studied, so then all I had to do was to pretend I did a thing, and at the end give her the one I had prepared at home.
My class was her second class, so after the first class finished their tests I went up to one of the kids and asked him which sonnet they had.
It wasn't the one I had prepared, so I was feeling lucky. After all the one sonnet I was dreading had been given to the first class. and I now had a 50% chance of having the one I had studied.
well, my luck crashed down 10 minutes later when the teacher gave us the other one. Oh well, back to the blackboard and writing what I thought the stupid sonnet meant.
At the end of my test, a friend of mine who was in the third class came up to me and asked me about the test. I then gave him the paper I had written, told him that he could do whatever he wanted with it. After all the test didn't have my name on it. I also told him to copy it to his own handwriting as the teacher knew mine fairly well.
couple of days or so later, the teacher had graded all the papers. I got mine, and much to my surprise I got a C. After my class ended, I talked to my friend and asked him his grade. He had a 0 on his. I looked at his paper, and saw the comment the teacher had written in red, "where have I read this before". This confused me because I had written it the day prior to the exam, and no one but my friend had seen it.
The teacher ended up solving this part of the mystery. what happened was, this friend of mine didn't understand the "in your own words" part. so what this genius did was, after he copied my answer, he then passed the paper to another kid in class, who was obviously as stupid as my friend. he then passed the test to another kid who did the same. At the end, there was fourteen kids who submitted the same exact paper in their own handwriting. this was a small class, so it was easy to figure out they had cheated, and since the teacher didn't know who wrote the original answer, they all got the same 0 lol

A couple of years prior to this story, and in the middle of a math test, I happened to notice a kid sitting next to me had the wrong answer. Tried whispering the right answer to him. He got up, and shouted to everyone in the classroom, that I was trying to give him the right answers to the test. after that, he simply sat back down and continued his test like nothing had happened lol (I think the teacher thought he was joking cause he ignored us both)

One of my professors has this policy. If you catch a fellow classmate to cheat, and you snitch on him you'll get one grade better. Even if you'd fail. Nobody dares to cheat.

that first story is very suspect... and if true he's VERY lucky he got anything at all other then a harassment charge. If you didn't call the cops and didn't get any real information beyond a phone number, how can you prove to the court that you actually had an accident? The guy only had to deny it and you would have the "burden of proof" to show it was his fault, your wife is a useless witness because she is considered bias. Never leave the scene of an accident no matter how minor without calling the cops. The guy could have called the cops and said you hit HIM and then drove away.... again you had NO PROOF that you didn't. Always assume the other person WILL screw you over.

In both schools I went to, you're forbidden from going to the bathroom before handing in your test. I genuinely didn't know that some schools allow it
In my country, it would be illegal for teachers and staff to restrict using the bathroom, or condition it on having to hand in your test before allowing you to do so. They are allowed to restrict the number of people going there to one at a time, or sending staff along to make sure the people dont talk about the test then.
Exactly, always one student was allowed to go at the same time accompanied by a teacher who checks the damn toilets first and then waits in front of the door... Hate it ^^

Are you sure? OP said the story took place around 10 years ago, Space Hulk: Deathwing was released in 2016. While games do generally have long development cycles, 7 years seems a little bit of a stretch. I could be wrong though!

I found this channel just yesterday and I have already watched around about 10 to 15 episodes... it is very helpful as I get to complete my homework as well as get some chuckles in between.
Thanks for learning to say Ontario! Really bugged me in a past video, so I appreciate the improvement.
I know a similar story to the restaurant one. A while back, the old plaza that used to be a grocery store, Dollarama (Canadian dollar tree), pet store, LCBO (Canadian gov's alcohol store) and a few others got a MASSIVE renovation. Tons of new stores and restaurants were built in what used to be empty parking lot space. One of the new restaurants decided to add a second renovation, turning their roof into a rooftop bar.
That would be fine and all... except for two things.
1. The roof access only existed so that cleaning crews could have access to the ventilation system, it was not designed to support more than a few people safely, let alone an entire bar!
2. They didn't want to pay for all the licencing and inspections to open a second bar area (especially since the roof wasn't up to building code for a BAR)
So they had their grand opening of the "Skyy Bar" aaaand were immediately fined and told to shut it down. So now there's a bar up there that can never be used.

I think the most diabolical thing that i heard a teacher doing is making all the multiple choice question answers the letter C... For EVERY SINGLE ANSWER... They said that every single student had the most confused and worried looks.

On Professor Pro Revenge: My Screenwriting professor told us a story about a girl who was lazy about her essays in Film Appreciation. He knew she was cheating using copy/paste, and to prove it he used a program that allowed him to search for essays or articles matching student work word for word, so he could root this stuff out. Anyway, he warned her 2 times before a big essay came along. She turned it in...and it was essentially a copy/paste of an article that HE wrote! And he showed it to her. But he had some mercy. Instead of reporting her to the Dean or kicking her out, he made her do the assignment over with three conditions: 1, she would at best only get a C in class, even if her essay was perfect. 2, she could only use a computer to type and print the essay-- all her research had to be done from PHYSICAL books, magazines, and journals from the Library. No digital sources, no online archives. 3, ALL SOURCES had to be cited. If she quoted anyone, she had to make it abundantly clear it was a quote or citation. I think she got a D in the end.

My dad had a professor who was tired of people not following instructions, so he wrote on the test that you only had to write your name and turn it in when time was up. My dad was the only one who read the instructions, and basically got the rest of the class to himself while everyone else took the exam.

My professor said, if you are smart enough to not get caught cheatin, then you also earned the grade for outsmarting me. Only one student managed to go undetected. My classmate (after he graduated) confessed and the prof was like: Woah, you where so average in your tests that I didnt even consider you as a cheater.
A similar thing happens with me also,
A day before my Chemistry exam at university, The exam paper got leaked somehow and the news went like wildfire among the students.
but as in those days, I'm the only one in class who doesn't have a cellphone, so I don't get the news about it.
The next day I reached the class just 5 min prior to the exam and got the news. I kind of became sad that now even if I do my best in the exam still everyone got better scores then me. But I set my spirits high and wrote the exam. It went pretty good for me...........But for others......IT WAS DISASTER !!!!!
Actually, that leaked paper was bogus and my entire class just prepared that paper.
On the result day, I'm the only one who passed the exam and also with 76 marks out of 100 (A grade).
That day I realized the value of working hard and not cheating.

I have a story from high school similar to the ones where the teachers caught cheaters. It was a trig. class and my cousin one day told me that he had something he wanted to tell me but I had to promise not to tell. I grunted at him and he took that as a promise. He then told me that some of other guys in the class had stolen a copy of the answer sheet for the upcoming exam and he was afraid that they would hurt him if they found out he told. I called the teacher and explained the situation. The teacher so not to worry he could handle it. Come exam time and I think I was the only person who noticed that some of the number on the exam had been carefully altered. When the class period ended the teacher triple checked that everyone's name was on their exam and that he had them all. He then told the class that one of the answer books had gone missing and so he had altered the test. Anyone who's answers matched the answer key had just failed the test and if they didn't come talk to him after class they had failed the course.
I'm so glad that my university professor didn't do that chegg trap or else I would have gotten an F. He's smart and he knows that people are cheating through the sites, but he just let it go and instead put on the same question but different number which still got many people to get the answer wrong.
Meanwhile that teenage boy is still there wondering what happened with that long lost relative.
