Quick question: I dont think i will ever be able to afford a Swiss made tourbillion watch, what do you think of these Chinese made ones on Amazon? I think Omega’s method of selling these is different from before, and hopefully it ends up as a win for everyone. From an outside observer’s POV, it looks more similar to ordering a custom car (put money down to have your name in the factory queue). This way Omega gets better data on the true demand for this product, and can adjust accordingly (and probably sell more units overall, which is a win for them). Truly interested customers win because they will eventually get the watch they want, even if it’s waiting for several months (but it’s a stronger guarantee, instead of the Rolex AD courtship game). Maybe the only people that lose out are the grey market/flippers (because the scarcity of this watch is ultimately an unknown), and that’s OK imo

I’m a Rolex “fanboy” too but I also love the Omega Speedy’s..people complain that Omega has too many LE speedy’s but now they have come out with one that is not and tbh this is a very cool watch and compared to some Rolex models (if we look at just how much much watch you are getting for your money and not just the value retention) is well worth the asking. Rolex kept increasing the price of their watches every year without updating much🤷‍♂️ I defended the new Rolex Submariner releases and so I don’t fall in the category of a Rolex hater..with regards to the waitlist - I’d rather pay a refundable deposit and get the watch in a month or two than be on an abstract waitlist for 5 years 😅 but hey we all have our own opinion 😃

@@andrewgiblin3468 I tried on the 39mm op and it wore a little large due to it being white, all dial and a long end link to end link length. Even if the new op is only 1mm bigger and not the listed 2mm, I think it would wear too big for me, or better put i dont think that size suits it style.
Unless you want the loud colours, then its a high end fashion watch style to me.
I hear that they have slimmed down the lugs etc.
I was hoping the old 39mm design would be adopted into a new range of 36mm without the double baton markers.
There is no white option at 36mm or 41mm. no doubt rolex will trickle this out next year for everyone to get excited about something that was just popular and taken away.
Fair play on the sub, I would love a modern version of the pre ceramic cases. I found the bracelets and clasps too cheap to be paying so much for the older ones but the case looks good.
The new 40.5mm sub is the closest it will get, the last ones were plain boxy yet everyone convinced themselves that it was ok.

I like how at the very end you slip in the reason many of us are not Rolex fanboys... because they do this to almost every watch in the brand. Walk into most any AD and you'll find an empty display case except for three ladies watches, a Chelini in rose gold, and a Date-Just with the fluted white gold bezel that no one wants. Plus maybe a Milegaus or something from three years ago. That's it. No Sub's, GMT's, Explorer's, Daytona's... Omega is pulling this crap on one watch, ONE.

To be fair, you can't get standard edition Daytonas or Subs, but you can walk into literally any Omega boutique with the money and walk out with numerous Speedmaster or Seamaster models.
It isn't the lack of availability of limited editions with Rolex that's an issue. It's the lack of availability of the standard models. That's why people are salty.
Then again, look at the value retention between the two brands...

    • @jonathansaraco
      @jonathansaraco Před 3 lety +1

Exactly. It was kind of tone deaf from Adrian to accuse Omega of doing Rolex's thing when this Snoopy did not replace every other Speedmaster at retail. Then he would be justified in pointing out hypocrisy in the community, but obviously Omega hasn't done that, so he's grasping at straws a bit. When Rolex makes a new watch, they discontinue every previous one, forcing you to wait years for the new one, or pay exorbitant amounts for one on the used market. But what if you want to buy the old one used? Well, since Rolex just discontinued it, they just shot up in price! That's the Rolex strategy, and Omega has never done that.
And his comparison to the new BB58 and how "it's just a blue Speedmaster". I mean, that case back alone is more inventive than anything Tudor has done in years. So again, these comparisons are exaggerated a bit.

It's fun, different and beautiful. Reading the history in the lead up with the Apollo 13 mission the public was loosing interest in the Apollo missions, Lovell, Haise and Swigert couldn't afford to be like Armstrong who was disconnected from the public. They needed to make this mission fun and interesting...that's with this watch is, fun!!! Buy your tourbillons, buy your grand compilations..they are serious watches they have their place. The snoopy on the sub dial is ok, but the case back reminds me of a Jacob and co watch, do like the og speedmaster and the seamaster 300m,

No one ever talks about the chronograph function or the inexplicable fact that the minute chapters are divided into thirds-meaning, the chrono measurement is 1/3 of a second-?

The expression "with a twinkle in the eye" was often a description in a product development spec as part of the company culture of Omega. Some guys had fun there and the bosses let them run with it. Great!

This watch is simply beautiful. What it stands for, space exploration, is an endeavor that will outlast us all.

Such a cool watch. That back look brilliant. Isn't the normal speedy moonwatch £4k ish new? Seems like a massive increase just for snoopy.

May 2023: Good news and bad news. Good news my boutique is getting 2 per month. Bad news: there are a thousand people on the wait list.

Nah, i keep hearing this about deposits and long lists..I got mine from a London boutique in March… no deposit was requested, I’d just been a prior customer (nothing really super high end just the NTTD and the bond 50th ) and simply asked to go into the pool when they began to filter through.. lucky maybe, but they had an allocation of 6 and I guess right place right time I !
But i agree it should be a level playing field for enthusiasts .. and not preferential clients and who won’t wear and end up flipping for a quick buck !.. that way The Rolex farce lays.
