50 years ago, in 1970, Omega received the coveted #SilverSnoopyAward from the astronauts at #NASA recognizing the brand’s unique contributions to space exploration, as well as the Speedmaster’s vital support during the rescue of #Apollo13
Snoopy, Omega's favorite beagle, plays a prominent role within the new chronograph, first appearing as an embossed silver medallion on the blue subdial at 9 o’clock. Here, he is shown wearing his famous spacesuit, in the exact style of the silver pin that NASA astronauts give to award recipients.
The dial is manufactured in silver and laser-engraved with Ag925. It includes two more blue subdials, as well as blue PVD angle-shaped hour markers and hands.
On the case-back, the fun begins! So cool...
This time, Snoopy has gone into orbit, thanks to his animated black and white Command and Service Module (CSM) on a magical hand. When the chronograph seconds hand is in use, Snoopy takes a trip around the mysterious far side of the moon - just like the Apollo 13 crew - with the lunar surface being decorated on the sapphire crystal using a unique micro-structured metallisation.
In the distance, a vision of our home is included. This Earth disc rotates once per minute, in sync with the watch’s small seconds hand, and symbolises the precise rotation of the Earth. The iconic quote, #EyesontheStars is included within the black universe.
The #NAIADLOCK keeps all case-back engravings in the correct, upright position, including the date in 1970 that Omega received the Silver Snoopy Award, as well as a tribute to the imperiled Apollo 13 mission that same year.
The watch’s blue nylon fabric strap matches the other blue elements of the watch, and even features the trajectory of the Apollo 13 mission, embossed on the lining. This strap is attached to a 42 mm case in stainless steel, which is inspired by the 4th generation Speedmaster style (the first watch worn on the moon in 1969).
The tachymeter scale, with the iconic “Dot over Ninety”, is shown in white enamel on a blue ceramic [ZrO2] bezel ring.
The Speedmaster comes with a full 5-year warranty, and will NOT be a limited production.
The watch comes in its own Apollo 13 presentation box, with a microfiber cleaning cloth, a brochure, and a magnifying glass to help you get up close to the details.

The #Calibre3861 is the successor of the legendary #Calibre1861 ...
Omega was determined to produce a movement that could be Master Chronometer certified, yet perfectly match the dimensions of the 1861. That meant finding a way to fit all of the new state-of-art componentry into a space more suited to an older movement. A challenge certainly, as the 3861 has 240 components compared to the 1861's 234, but Omega's engineers were up to the task, improving power reserve, chronometric performance and magnetic resistance.
Daily deviations were improved from -1/+11 seconds to now 0/+5 seconds, and a stop second function was added, allowing the wearer to stop the seconds hand with a pull of the crown and reset the time with absolute precision.
Thanks to 21st century machining, it was also possible for Omega's engineers to subtly reshape the teeth of the wheels, which allowed for tighter contacts and smoother running.
As a tribute to the 1861, the new movement's frequency remained the same (21,600 A/h).
However, the jewel tally was increased from 18 to 26, as eight extra jewels were needed for the upgrade. Half of them to ensure the smooth running of the #CoAxialEscapement which had replaced the more traditional Swiss Anchor escapement and four more for general technical improvements.
Another significant change was the complete removal of the frequency regulator. As a moving part, the tiny lever added to the risk of accidental frequency shifts, so the decision was made to do without it. On the new Calibre 3861, this was replaced by four adjustable screws on the balance wheel.
Thanks to the inclusion of Omega's Co-Axial escapement and silicon Si14 balance spring, the Calibre 3861 offers extraordinary levels of magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss, and is able to pass the industry's toughest tests and achieve Master Chronometer certification.

Hats off to Omega for this one, and also for being innovative. Exactly what the industry needs right now. Love this watch! Nostalgia, history, provenance and tools all rolled into a beautiful time piece. I do like Rolex, however I like to think of this as a Daytona with personality! ... I think Omega just gave Rolex a bloody nose. But with all due respect they are cutting their own path. Good work Omega.
PLEASE don't compare it with the Daytona! The Speedmaster plays in its own unique league, so does the Daytona. Both watches, together with the Zenith El Primero, define what a real Chronograph should be...

I have the original Snoopy award from 2003. I love everything to do with space and I was raised with Snoopy, so he has really got a lot of sentiment for me. I love this watch. I love every last little detail. Well done, Omega!

This is an awesome Speedmaster! I was lucky enough to see this watch in person 2 days ago from a friend who is an Omega collector who had just received it from his authorized dealer and it's beautiful, I was really blown away seeing the animated caseback in action, it's just so cool and innovative, it's a great piece from Omega.

@@WatchAdvisor I didn't even realize that it wasn't actually available yet which makes me more curious how he got his hands on one, I know he's big into Omega and a collector of the brand and has both of the other silver snoopy editions, he said that he was waiting for this watch for a while now as if he knew and was waiting for it to make delivery, I don't know who he knows or what relationship he has with a dealer to get this but I just wanted to share that it was a beauty, when I get some pics I'd be happy to share.

Great video. This is the ONLY clip I could see the lume shot and the thickness of the watch. This snoopy is easily the best of 2020 by a mile. The Rolex releases are boring compare to this. The only thing to make this watch to go beyond the full score is having a lumed snoopy on the dial, but it is not a deal breaker. Thank you for not making this a limited edition. I expect to see a super long waiting list though.

Have just done a quick scroll through some of the Comments, and already people are moaning that this watch is NOT a Limited Edition!! We should be appreciative that by NOT being Limited Edition, us "mere mortals" should be able to actually buy this watch, even if we may have to wait some time before actually getting our hot little hands on one! As for the "flippers" who want to get one then immediately sell for a profit, just stick to Rolex please, allow watch ENTHUSIASTS to be able to pay market price, not being gouged mercilessly...

Exactly. I cant buy the snoopy this year because I just got my submariner but since this is not a limited edition I can get one next year without paying the astronomic prices

This is such an amazing watch... I’ve always wanted the 45th anniversary snoopy watch but unfortunately they are extremely difficult to get a hold of. But seeing this now I just couldn’t help but place an order for its uniqueness and its metas certified movement.

I have a strong feeling that even though the watch is not limited edition, it will have a limited production time, very much like the omega tintin watch. That will keep the interest of collectors and buyer’s buoyant and resale market reasonably strong.

The Daytona was originally supposed to be a space watch but Omega and other brands were in space first. So Rolex had to dream up alternative branding for it and eventually they branded it as car race watch, named after the race they had previously sponsored

Yes. I ordered one from my AD. Yes, most ADs will get a few or even none. Everyone talks about omega releasing so many limited editions to a point that a gimmicky. Therefore this piece is not limited but very very slow supply. It will discontinue very quickly too.

FYI. It’s Jan. 16, 2021 today as I watch this very good video. I ordered my Snoopy 50th on day one from my AD (@ 11am) and was told I was #62 (thank you Brennan NYC AD). Haven’t gotten “the call” yet.
I ordered mine in October when it was released and told I’ll get it before Christmas last year ... So I decided to make it my Christmas gift... 🎄 My Snoopy III has not yet arrived, I’m still waiting... next try is my birthday January 27th ... 🤷🏻♂️
Correct me if I am wrong, since this will not be a limited edition, do you feel good about being on #62, may be shorter in reality if many may decide not to buy it? I was looking for a white faced chrono to celebrate my special life event, and certainly looks more special than the new Zenith Chronomaster or dare say a ceramic Daytona!!

Have not really considered myself to be a big Omega fan, thinking along the lines of a top quality manufacturer, who have a long tradition behind them . However, they have produced a real beauty this time.This will appeal to Omega fans, watch fans, and no doubt Snoopy fans.(Mustn't forget the little guy!) I don't tend to use the word "cool " too often, but this IS a SERIOUSLY cool watch. Omega deserve congratulations for NOT making this a Limited Edition piece, so those who can afford the price can put their name down and be able to actually get their watch after an assumed slightly lengthy wait. (Unlike Messrs Rolex, with their mythical waiting list / preferred customer fiasco.) Omega have produced a certified chrono of real beauty. On a financial note, are the AD's taking the FULL price as a deposit, or an agreed lesser figure?? Here is Singapore is more than a years..... they stop taking in wait list as of now.
@@FirestormAA They should stop the waitlist I think because Omega has limited capacity to produce this watch if they do not stop the waitlist the customer will wait too long. I believe there are more than one waitlists when the time goes on. In my country, who wants first priority and guarantees to get a watch they should have to pay an extra 6000 USD to buy another Omega watch.
@@tlotrtbome yeah sad to say this unhealthy 'bundle purchase' have spilled from Rolex AD to Omega AD too in Singapore. I email to sound my interest in getting one Snoopy & yes they stop taking in wait list which personally I feel is the right way to do it rather than what Rolex AD been doing...... let u wait for years.
Omega will deliver the Snoopy III ... but there are no miracles... the watch has to be produced and also be Master Chronometer certified...
@@WatchAdvisor yeah at least they only take in what they can produce & professional stop taking in any wait list beyond 1 year waiting time, which honestly is extremely professional. I love what Omega been doing lately,,, I been adding on their timepieces more & more cos they are really good & must importantly mich more reasonable price in both the new & especially the used area.

Good video Alexander. I was on the fence about this or a steel daytona. To me this wins by a mile. It is so unique. It might not be to everybody's tastes but no-one can deny the cool factor on this. Next year purchase for sure.

Excellent video. What can I say about the watch... Only word that comes to mind is love. It is an incredibly stunning piece, the color combination of the face and bezel alone are worth the admission price. But then the magic happens, the back is simply fantastic and outstandingly clever. Is probably the most gorgeous watch I have ever seen.
IMHO this is the COOLEST chronograph I ahem seen for decades now...

At the start of this video I'm thinking 'why would I want an Omega with Snoopy in it?' By then end of the video I am completely sold on this watch. And the back - wow!! I hate it when luxury watch brands like Rolex and Tudor have completely plain backs - the reverse of this watch is as appealing as the front. Rolex gives us 1 millimetre... Omega gives us a revolution.

Absolutely stunning watch and great video Alexander. I think the excitement is 100% justified. Blue is the colour of the season, too! Have already checked with the Hong Kong Omega Boutiques and they are not expecting any stock until the end of the year.
Deliveries are starting end of October here in Europe... It will take some time until everyone around the globe will get its pieces... But still it should be before end of this year... maybe they are keeping the first Snoopy III for their collectors... Just a guess...

Wow, thanks for the comprehensive video, I was really not into this watch and felt the extra complication at the back to be a needless gimmick but I couldn't be far from being wrong after watching this video. This is one of the coolest watches from Omega. I also loved his humble and passionate explanation :)

Love the watch! Was waiting in the rain for 40 minutes on Monday in front of the shop to order it. Just glanced the photo and made the decision in a split second, was first on the list, so mid-November for me. When I go through your fabulous presentation, I am becoming even more impatient to get it. There are two minor changes I would make. The snoopy hand reflects a tad too much, as mentioned in the other comments. I think 50 anniversary on 9 o'clock sub-dial was a tad too much, but nevertheless I absolutely adore it, and can't wait.
The Speedmaster must pass some really tough tests to become a Master Chronometer certified watch. The Snoopy hand is also undergoing these tests since the entire watch is tested... I think they maybe taking a leaf out of Rolex playbook by making if limited production rather than limited edition, this could make the watch even more desirable. Will be fascinating to see how the secondary market plays out with this one, I have mine already ordered will get delivery early next year but hearing on the forums and comments that a lot of people are unable to get on the list without previous purchase record.
That's the silly game ADs are always playing with their customers and for sure not Omega policy ... I don't like that at all ...
