  • Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome
    Back to the channel!
Today I’m testing a very large 125mm rotary cutter by VEVOR. This electric cutter is cordless and meant to power through thick fabric, multiple layers of fabric, and batting.
My full review is in the video, but if you decide you want to check out this cutter, here’s the link:
    VEVOR Fabric Cutter: s.vevor.com/bfQUmQ
In addition to sending me the cutter for free to test, VEVOR is giving a 5% off code for my viewers: DISCOUNT23 (Valid for all the items)
While this rotary cutter isn’t for every sewist, there are other sizes available and it might just be the solution that someone doing large numbers of the same item (for sale at craft fairs, Etsy, etc.) needs to speed up production.
    Until next time, Stay Crafty!

This would be great for those who sew and sell bags and totes. I am a newly retired person who has just bought my first sewing machine. I'm not doing any mass productions. I'm lucky to get my machine threaded properly on the first try. You inspired me to start sewing and I am now half way through my first quilt. I look forward to your videos and your sunny personality. Thank you.

I’m so glad to have inspired you! You can totally do this!
I hope when you finish your first quilt you will stand back and marvel at your achievement. Trust me, you will find 100+ things you want to fix with it - unless you’re a savant - but it will be something you made and accomplished and for that reason, it’s perfect.
I’d love to see it when you’re finished! I’ll come back and comment here when I get my Instagram set up. Or you can find me on Facebook already.

I purchased this about a year ago from Sailrite...GAME CHANGER!! Cuts so easy and so quickly, as he demonstrated, just with a finger. At first it will seem really heavy, if you're used to scissors or the typical rotary cutters, but you'll get used to the weight. It's not like you have to lift or carry it to use it! And because of the base you can cut directly on the table without any protective mat. It really is a great tool. That and a hot knife. No more zigzag finishing stitches. Oh one last mention... the plastic piece in the front is not just for fabric height, it's really meant to be a guard. I really enjoy your videos too. Thank you.

wow! this could be a serious game changer for us sewists that design tote bags using thick fabric and faux leather to serious quilters that design massive quilts. the only thing is that it would be nice if it was smaller. this is great for those who have problems with their wrist hurting when using a regular rotary cutter (carpal tonal)

At a very young age, I witnessed my uncle having an accident with a table saw. Things have improved with safety and guards. The fact that the guard is so high on this cutter scares me. I have watched garment sewists, in other countries, use these huge cutters for stacked patterns. They have skills! 😊

I got this shirt from The Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park. It’s the house designed for the Kraus’. I was in St. Louis giving one of my storytelling sessions for their members. Was a great time and they gave me a nice shirt when I said how much I liked it. The place is open for tours. Go see it! My favorite small Wright Usonian house.

I like that it has a honing stone built in--which is much of what the noise is (steel on stone). I make leather guitar straps & a supplier I use has a corded version for cutting their hides. I've used an ergonomic handle rotary blade for years, but this with a jig to control width could be amazing & doesn't need to be used on a self healing mat!

  • @sus8e462
    @sus8e462 Před 3 měsíci +1

Comment 2: spinning blades of death came to mind--at least this version has nearly full guards... But they have another with no guard if your hand slips. Yikes. So far only cuts on my fingers with my manual blades, but these are scary. Cool, but should come with cut proof gloves! The smallest version is nice, but lifts the material up higher to the blade to cut... Wish they had a safety interlock that requires your hand on the handle or switch to spin the blades...

HERE IS A GOOD TIP FOR THIS, TIM DAHLING: WHEN YOU MARK YOUR FABRIC TO CUT WITH THIS BLADE, MARK THE FABRIC ON THE WRONG SIDE SO THE MARKING WON'T SHOW ON THE RIGHT SIDE AFTER THE CUT.

It’s a good question. It was pretty strong and I imagine it would cut just fine. I was surprised that it hasn’t had any issues with anything I’ve thrown at it yet, even stuff I didn’t demonstrate on video.
