My wife’s not happy, you’ve just unlocked a new trend to our foreign holidays, sun, sea, and tools!. Thanks👍🏻
just divorce her. whats her value anyways....
The Tooltüte is a play on the german Schultüte (School-/Candy cone).
When kids have their first school day it is tradition to gift them a Schultüte; a big paper cone filled with candies and school supplies.
So the Tooltüte might be for someone who just got into working with tools.
p.s. it's Holzgliedermaßstab and not Zollstock. (my Meister is never tired of correcting me on this one :D)
Meterstab ist und bleibt ein Meterstab. Grüße von einem Meister 😊
Dont forget the Wendelnutbohrer. 😂
In Dutch it's called duimstok (thumbstick) or maatstok/maatstaf (meterstick/meterstaff) 🙂
i really want that stubby screwdriver, they are so cool in tight places
Eig. mehr auf ne Wundertüte bezogen, wie es die damals in der Trinkhalle gab ;)
As a self confessed tool nerd you are living the dream. Hoarding quirky little tools from around the world.
Love this collection of episodes.
That bit holster seems like a godsend. Gone are the days of us losing bits that fall out of pockets. It's "I lost my bit holster" era!
Also happy to see Qbrick outside Poland - really like their stuff & their whole community.
the best thing about the EU is to share our tools with each other .... if the polish invent cool shit, then i want to have it
in finland too!
Yeah, that toolbelt thing is cool.
Wera would be the ones to go for a blind bag! They do the advent calendar too! I like a company that doesn't take themselves too serious
It's still amazes me, the geographical variation in tools from international / multinational companies. When you add the quirky home brand tools onto the variety, you truly do have the best job, Jonathan! Great video as usual my friend!
I love that you discovering all our special and quirky handywork tools! Love from Germany
Just went to OBI and picked up one of those retractable bits holders. Genius
Any chance you can share a part number or sku for it? Tried to find it online and failed
Those tooltutes are so cool, makes you really wonder if the other tool brands will come out with little blind bags as well. I appreciate you taking us on a tour of tool stores around the world.
I don't really see the purpose of blind bags... it's not collectibles after all it's working tools.
That bit set is awesome! I was never into collecting tools or toolboxes until I started watching your videos, my wife says thank you 😆
I enjoy seeing tools from different countries other that the UK and US. I would also be ecstatic opening one of those Wera mystery totes
I’m an English man living in Germany and OBI is my secret pleasure! My local doesn’t have such a selection of Makita as this, especially not the boxes! Biffi isn’t good but the Currywurst that you find in most car parks at the DIY stores are pretty decent.
A bit of trivia “Obi was founded in 1970 by Emil Lux, Manfred Maus and Klaus Birker with the opening of the first Obi store in the Alstertal shopping center in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel.” This is why the own brand is called Lux 😉
Wera is a local firm to here in Wuppertal and Solingen (famous for its knifes) is also about 10 miles away in the direction is Remscheid (home of Knippex).
Great video and a new subscription 😉
When you use the u-umlaut as correctly as you do here, you are no longer an english man.
You upgraded to German now. And there is no going back. muhahahaa... sorry but those are the rules.
Yes Makita and Bosch are the bestsellers here.
The mentioned first Obi store in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel had left location for almost twenty years now (it’s now a Saturn electronics store)
The tape measure type bit holder is the best.
Stores in the UK definitely fall short compared with most of Europe. I normally avoid shopping of any kind other than essentials when abroad, but I'll be noting major tool retailers' locations before trips from now on. I appreciate your comments on quality and design, it's obviously a genuine passion of yours. 😊👍
I am german but I have never seen most of the tools. Good job finding and picking those tools
Thanks Dan, mad thinking that, which tool stood out to you the most?
These videos have me obsessed, I keep coming back to see these quirky tools!
Love these shopping trips. It’s good to see what tools the other DIY shops are selling.
Absolutely! Especially country by country! 👍
Loving this series of quirky tools
Thanks mate, which tool in this video was your favourite?
@@ShadowFoam it’s got to be the retractable bit holder
me 2
I love this little series so much! I'm starting my joinery apprenticeship next week, finding it very hard not to splash out on all the quirky tools you have been showing!
I love tools and love the ones you find. Don’t ever stop
Zollstock? We in south Germany say "Meter" 😉 the normal used Meter is in Wood or Plastik. The Wera "Tool Tüte" ist very interesting, ife never Seen this in our OBI. Greatthings from Germany 👍🏻🙂✌🏻
Or you could use the official word
"Gliedermaßstab" ;)
Watching from Austria, 50km away from the boarder to Germany we call it "Zollstock". But in fact professionals dont use it a lot any more, it is more a DIY thing. And it is used a lot as a Promotional gift at trade fairs for example just because it has a large area to print on and the traditional hardwood variant also has a bit of a sustainable character in contrast to the usual plastic junk...
nobody cares about south germany, you are a separatist breakaway region - who constantly pretends to be better than anyone else...
the country says zollstock - because thats the name unchanged from medieval times, you cannot know that because in medieval times southern germany was still northern italy or something haha...
meter. deine mudder....
I'm new to your channel. This is the channel I've been looking for for years. Concurring tools and showing off tools. I love it. Thank you for being there.
I really liked the mini zolstoff but what really made me fall in love is the small wera bulldog screwdriver and the retractable bit holder.
That bit holder is a brilliant idea! I want one now!
Absolutely loved the video! It's fantastic to see how well German tools are received and appreciated worldwide. The craftsmanship and quality truly shine through. Can't wait to see more amazing work like this!
Yea but don’t tell them
I have to admit, that's a really good idea that Tooltute. I could see that being very addictive. It's interesting to see how everyone in the world does things just a little bit different than the rest and how some retailers sell a product that really stands out from the offerings in most stores. Thanks for the entertainment!
Really enjoying watching you find these unique tools, the bit holster looks useful.
Another great collection of quirky tools. Love the Sill-Willi.
loving the videos and all the quirky tools you show , I like the little dumpy screwdriver very handy to have in your toolbox , keep the videos coming 👍
I’m also a Makita collector. Love them. Excellent quality. You don’t see many influences on social media with them.
The 8M tapemeasures from Makita are AWESOME. B&Q did used to stock them, but on Amazon I saw a twin pack of then for just over £16 and my current one has lasted me years and longer than any other tape measure I have owned not to mention it automatically locks and has a button to release it unlike the ones with the sliding manual locking mechanisms. I have tried other auto locking tape measures but the auto lock seems to fail on them but this Makita has lasted me years with the only damage being that I accidentally bent the tape at one part through my own fault and I'll probably just buy another
These tool shopping in different country videos are ne of my fav style of videos you do . Keep them up !
Love all these quirky tools from different countries. Great video
That bit holder is awesome. Now I need to get one.
Just found your channel, when I was in the US Air Force our tool boxes where shadowed for FOD, foreign object damage, prevention. Made it really easy to identify any missing tools. I remember having to cut and glue the different color foam. Your product would have been a godsend back in the day. As I look through your website I had notice no mention of FOD prevention, which is required for anyone working on jet aircraft. I've watched Jet engines pull moisture out of concrete in a desert, that's how powerful they suck.
I love all the quirky tools you find. My favorite is the retractable bit holder.
Those mystery bags are so cool. Love the videos by the way been binging through so many of them for the past week.
love these small quirky tools that you find, keep it up cheers
Love the videos recently started getting my own tools gathered up and your videos are fantastic for ideas great work glad I found your channel
I’m so liking your format. Only found you at the tools fair and your covering my needs.
I love how the light is on and when it detects power it turns off that is a great Idea other wise you have to check it on something with power before you can check the thing your working on.
Wow some neat tools, I have to say my favourite was the folding ruler. The Bit holder was close second. I think every one should have the mystery tool bags this would be a good way to promote a new tool. Thanks for the video.
The bit carrier is a great idea . I went through about 5 the other day & had to keep stopping to dig out bits.
I hadn’t seen that Wera made a stubby before. So cool! Thanks for sharing!
Aussie here. Spent an Arvo in an OBI when I was in Germany a few years ago. Def the Wera tools was a good buy!
The folding ruler takes me back to rummaging through my Granddad's toolbox all those years ago. keep up the great videos.
it's always fun to learn something new about other countrys way of thinking. here in Italy there's OBI too but there's half the variety of tools I've seen in the video.
Love this channel, lived in Germany for 2 years. Got me hooked on gimmick tools. Oh and Wera collection started!
Keep up the great work!
I love your foreign tool shopping trips and many new tools that we don't see here keep up the good stuff
Love the video. I did not see those mystery bags when I went to the OBI store a couple years ago in Germany. I’m from the states. I really do enjoy seeing what’s offered other countries.
Love the little power detector on the pliers. For a chippy, that ‘s a def bonus for quickly checking.
Love seeing the quirky tools in these videos, good content
I am loving these hardware store tours, great to see what differences are and of course seeing how you to decide to shadow foam them :)
Oooo… those aluminium folding rulers look a dream. Never considered them but thinking of the fact that they are aluminium and brass. I can imagine that lasting awhile. Thanks for finding that!
I was interested too but reviews on amazon aren't great... Apparently they flex a lot when extended, some have sharp edges and some have too much spacing between blades.
I love that little bit holder. what a great innovation!
Great channel. Very informative. I'm buying more tools every time I watch. Can't stop now😮.
Great info. Thanks.
I Like how I can always count on you to find a way to make me spend money. That's right I own a bunch of your great foam then you go find tools all over the place I just can not live without. Thanks for that.. Now I am on Amazon looking at NWS pilers. LOL Thomas
Love how you just get to travel and geek out! So fancy a random goody bag ;)
Came by your channel as a CZcams recommendation - love your content. Will certainly come back for more!
Being a retired Sparkie I love the Pliers and the Voltage indicator, fantastic idea! although I still have my Dads old Imperial Folding Ruler that I use time to time.
I love to watch your Video, from toolbox, tools and ext... I keep coming back to watch your video...
This channel is so fun to watch. Living the dreamlife you are🇧🇻
Thank you Johnathan. Shadow foam is a great product. I have just done my tower Hika tool cabinet. I am more than pleased with the results. Thanks keep up the great work. The mixed bag of wera tools best quality and value. Just ordered the ShadowFoam measure too.
Cracking series of videos, i have been hooked! Really interesting to see how innovative each country are.
How do you draw the competitions? Are they in seperate videos as im not sure ive seen any drawn?
Keep the videos coming 🍻
Those mini zolstocks were incredible loved em!
JUST COME ACROSS YOUR CHANNEL THIS IS WHAT I CALL BANGIN IT'S WICKED LOVE SEEING WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES OFFER AND THEY WELL CHEAP TOO...
Wow. You never disappoint. I agree with your ratings. Really like the retractable bit holder. Keep up the hunt for those unique tools.
Love these videos John like you I’m a Makita fan boy all day long. I really like the retractable bit set but they’re all great tools. Looking forward to seeing you at makers 👌🏻
My journey with high-quality tools started with Makita Drill Combo. From there, Knipex and Wera. Home use, little garage workshop. Great stuff.
I thought I had seen everything until I saw the extending bit holster. Thanks for the tour!
Those tooltutes are great they remind me of those surprise toys I bought when I was little
I grew up seeing the carpenters using the foldable rules, even had a few myself until tapes were everywhere. I bet I could find one in my tool boxes somewhere - love the pliers 👍🏻
I don’t even do that much DIY, but for some reason find your videos very satisfying!
Enjoying these videos. Nice to see tools from the continent.
I used to have a folding rule, but I never thought it was as easy as a tape measure. You had another great haul there. See you at Makers Central.
Just found your channel, love quirky tools, perfect content to keep me occupied!
Love the toot bag idea! Impressed with the metal Zollstock too. I have an old wooden measure rule in my tool box
Love the extension socket wrench. Good for my compact tool box. The foldable scraper/util knife
Love seeing all the quirky tools!
I loved the little bulldog wera screwdriver with the bits in the handle.
Great tools trip keep them coming, and the tape measure/bit holder is a handy tool. Who doesn’t like a surprise bag to open.
You have gifted me some great holiday advice for when im abroad. Tools, beaches and food
Love that little bit holder and those blind bags are a bargin!
Keep up the great content 😁👍
Those mini OBI zollstocks scratch a really specific itch in my brain.
i recently went to canada and had a good look round in home depot and an independent tool store in thunder bay ,didn't see anything that was different for my trade(bricklayer) in fact i was looking to get a new marshalltown trowel none in both stores ,anyway i still love the channel ,keep up the good work travelling around the world bying different tools from around the world
Love the series, need to build up my own collection of quirky tools
We use folding rulers in Scandinavia as well, you'll find them in most tool shops here. Empire (the company that makes the levels etc from the U.S.) even make one.
My fave is all of em ! love these little trips you do
love the screwdriver bit roll, can see a real use for that one, saves having a pocet full of bits when up a ladder or similar
Absolutely! And there loads of unused space on belts that we can add tools to! 👍
I’d love to trip around the world, buying tools, sending them home for a second Christmas after each trip. Then to just have a super organised workshop. A fella can only but dream.
Love it keep up the quirky tool quest 👌
I'm really surprised with the surprise bags. Never seen before one with tools. 😳
...but now I need one!
The zollstock is superior (IMO) to a tape measurer when working with rough lumber and especially when measuring shorter lengths alternately with longer lengths, quicker and accurate and very easy to keep in a pocket (plenty of carpenter pants/overalls here have a dedicated pocket for them).
We use it a lot in Sweden as well, where we call them tumstock, which is pretty much the same as the German word.
This format it's the turning point. Really enjoying it😁
Thank you mate, I’m really enjoying making them! 👍
Awesome job simple and effective videos keep them coming
Great idea the wera lucky bags. I usually get the advent calendar
Love these tool finder videos 😃
I love these videos! A tüte (tooter) is usually a giant cone filled with sweets and goodies given to kids on their first day of school. I remember our german friends sending one for my first day, full of kinder!
p.s. That bit reel is incredible. How is that not more common.
Interesting seeing different tools from around the world
I love tool stores abroad they always have different gear than ours! All tools are useful. Great video.
These unique tool videos from different places around the globe are really interesting. Never would have expected so much variety. You’ll have to venture down under eventually, we’ve got a couple of brands here I bet you haven’t come across yet! Bring some foam with you too, I want to deck my whole place out with the stuff but the shipping cost to Australia is a killer!
Awesome video, as always. Those tooltutes are a good idea. They also do an advent calendar at Christmas time that looks pretty cool.
