    I just stumbled upon your video looking for tinker guides and it's perfect! I checked your dotabuff and saw that you're ancient but I honestly thought you were divine/immortal. Thanks for the vid bro, anyway, do you just get the timings right by muscle memory and practice? I always screw up with the big combos and end up getting the backswing. PS. Goodluck with the mmr grind

    • @GoodEveningDota
      @GoodEveningDota  Před 4 lety +6

      I actually made this guide when I was still legend. I reached divine a couple of weeks ago but I've fallen back to ancient.
      As for your question, practice and muscle memory is everything. I used to practice a lot in demo hero/unranked.
      One last tip is to spam keys. For instance, if you use laser then dagon, but keep spamming the dagon hotkey a few times (it can actually become part of your muscle memory), you're gonna use it right after laser. If 0 is when laser is cast and 1 is when its backswing ends, press dagon at 0.5, 0.8, 1, and 1.2 (basically a couple of times in a row) and you should be fine. But you can still time it relatively well just by habit.

    • @GoodEveningDota
      @GoodEveningDota  Před 4 lety

      Welcome to Dota!
      Tinker is really not an easy hero, and his gameplay is unconventional. But if you wanna stick to it anyway, so be it.
      What I can suggest is (and this works for all heroes) to watch replays and gameplay highlights of good players on that hero (pro players or random high ranked players). What you can start with is search for highlights on CZcams of funkefal and radical highway. You have no idea how much time I spent watching replays and highlights. Replays can be found on Dotabuff.com (go to a hero's page, then click on trending guides, then you have access to many match IDs that you can copy and paste in the client to download the replay).
      As for general mechanics and hero-specific mechanics, it's all about practice (+ a bit of theory and acknowledging that you are bad and wrong). So just watch streamers on Twitch and see what they do and how they play. They also happen to explain their decisions.
      Feel free to ask if you have any other question, and have fun!

    I'm just learning about the hotkey stuff but as a legacy key player. I'm having a really hard time in this new tp slot. I kinda activated the "double tap to cast self option" and I actually got used to it. It allowed me to tp straight to the fountain without clicking the location etc. Now I'm finding it hard to perform the same action since. Teleport hotkey and heat seeking missiles have the same hotkey. any suggestions on what to do man? Already subbed btw. Good vid

    • @GoodEveningDota
      @GoodEveningDota  Před 3 lety +2

      Are you talking about the "T" key? How about your hotkeys for other items?
      The only thing I can suggest is to find a hotkey system with no conflict and just get used to it. It took me time to find my current hotkeys for each item, but at some point I had to force myself to get used to them (that's the most unpleasant part, I know). So... find another key and force yourself to change.
      It's basically the same thing with legacy hotkeys, you kept them because you were used to them; but if you were to move to QWER, you'd have to force yourself to adapt.

    • @honventureschannel
      @honventureschannel Před 3 lety

      But is there like a shortcut for it? I mean a lot of tinker players including you can tp to the fountain without looking at the fountain. I was able to do that before. Badly need a professionals help.

    • @GoodEveningDota
      @GoodEveningDota  Před 3 lety +1

      Well in that case I can only recommend using 6 for TP, since any letter can be assigned to a spell.
      You may also change it just when you play Tinker, so that you don't affect other heroes.
      I use 2 hotkeys for when I have a simple TP or travels, because I have 2 different automatisms. Basically the new tp slot messed things up, but I had to adapt and assign a new hotkey. If I buy dagon and shiva (very very rarely), there will be a conflict in hotkeys, but I'll force myself to use shiva on another hotkey (either 3 or mouse instead of 1); it's annoying but I have to.
      Just force yourself to a use a new hotkey; if you want to do it, you can do it.

    • @GoodEveningDota
      @GoodEveningDota  Před 5 lety +3

      You can drop an item while rearming without the need to shift queue it; the dropping action is automatically shift-queued (I think it is related to the options about non-interrupting channels). Items in the backpack are rearmed, while items on the ground and in your stash are not. Also note that, for some reason, dropping Shiva interrupts Rearm.

      Ok so first of all remember that shift queue always waits for the backwsing animation. So if you laser and shift blink, you'll have to wait for the entire backwsing animation.
      For farming, I usually just shift blink and E, no ream because of E backswing
      And last thing, shift queue is really only useful for farming, for fights you should usually just click fast enough, because of the long backswings of Q and W

    • @GoodEveningDota

      Tell me if it's clear enough for you.

  • @ApiolJoe
    @ApiolJoe Před 4 lety +2

    For the combo with the Hex you forgot a subtlety that can actually be the difference between having enough mana for the kill or not (for example on beefy targets, or if you don't have dagon next to it, or if you encounter an ennemy while not being full mana because you were doing stuff...):
    you can: hex missile laser, rearm, missile laser hex, rearm, missile laser rearm, hex ...etc...
    Hex is 3.5s and rearm at level 3 is under 1s second, so you can chain hex that way while still preventing bkb activation. You actually can save a hex activation which is a bit of mana. If you get good at cancelling your animations, you can even start to do this way with rearm lvl2, but I don't recommend it's quite clutch, while perfectly doable. It requires the muscle memory to be adapted and not braindead, but surprisingly it's not that hard to get. I can do it consistently even though I never practiced specific comboes.
    I'm personally a huge fan of the force staff on tinker and it's likely the use of that item that helped me learn to be more adaptable with my comboes. It allways make me so sad that no one talks about that item on Tinker. Positionning around the fight and keeping force staffing the ally that is focused by an ennemy ursa or sven is absolutely bonkers. It also gives an extra layer of security during teamfight meaning you have more freedom for positionning. It's also a great item for chasing, and it helps farm / push lanes faster as you get to the extra farming spot with one less rearm, you can extend your movement patterns on the map. All of that for 2k gold. Not an item for every game of course. It's also a must against riki or slark since you can force staff out of smoke screen / pounce leash, and gives an escape if you got caught. You can also use it to save an ally that got caught in that.

      First of all thanks for taking the time to make such a detailed comment
      I didn't really forget about the points you mentioned because I didn't want to add other layers of complications in an already long video. Not being on autopilot when doing combos is one first difficulty of course. One thing that often happens is enemies juking in trees and fog of war, so sometimes stacking hexes slightly may ensure that enemies stay hexed (they can disappear in trees for like a second then activate bkb or sb or use a spell).
      As for force staff, I didn't include it because it's not a damage combo, and tbh I thought about making another video with items like force, eul, lotus, and the interaction between ghost/eblade and bkb. I bought force only a few times, probably because of greed. Sometimes I go all in for damage and I get bkb if needed, or go for the raid boss build that is shiva bloodstone bkb.
      And again thanks for the insightful comment :)

      Radical is the reason why I got into playing Tinker, but I'm more into the Dagon build. His build is great and his execution and item timing make it perfect. You can watch his replays and imitate him, especially that he consistently achieves very high GPM and XPM no matter the matchups.
      Quoarine, as far as I know, mostly plays unranked party games and he goes Blink Dagon Eblade. I humbly don't think he's the best to imitate in terms of gameplay.

      As for your question, even though I don't know your mmr, I pretty much believe that it is fine, as long as you farm fast. If you're afk free-farming until 17 min and just have a blink, then you must improve your farming speed. Because even Radical afk farms until he has blink, but he gets it anywhere from 13 min to 14 min, and manages to consistently hit 900+ gpm and xpm. Tinker is really a greedy hero that needs a lot of net worth to be active; pretty much like Anti-Mage.

      @GoodEveningDota  Před 5 lety

      @@dusanlabudovic4176 I think it's fine at 2.1k because everyone is on average farming slower. Keep practicing until you can get blink before 14 min if you can farm completely freely. I really suggest you check some of Radical replays just to see how he farms a quick blink. Also practice farming after getting blink. I generally aim at 10k+ net worth with 200+ LH by 20 min.
      Practice the shiva combo, and also just being used to shiva. If you don't buy dagon at all, I will also suggest you practice it too. Being comfortable with both playstyles can be very useful. For instance, in my case, I like to buy shiva when I'm playing vs heroes like PL, Lycan, Furion, MK, Brood, WK (summons + right click only), especially that the level 20 talent synergises well with shiva.

    • @GoodEveningDota
      @GoodEveningDota  Před 4 lety +1

      Very good observation, and I can only make a hypothesis since I noticed the same thing. I think it's because he favours the damage output over the range, since you need to get close to people when you use Shiva (+it provides survavability with armor and slow). So for him the combo kaya + spell amp talent + mana reduction talent is more valuable than aether lens + cast range. It's his playstyle and he makes it work. When I go for his Shiva build, I go for both aether lens and kaya (and the cast range talent) because that's how I'm used to playing Tinker.

      Actually I find he often doesn't use laser till he gets hex. Meaning with double shivas and rocket he can have vission and damage on enemies from fog without revealing himself. So he can stand behind a tree like 2ft away from you nuking the shit out of you and you can't target him and you're slowed. So he doesn'ty need to be half the map away. Also they have no cast point so you can rearm crazy fast so they can never catch you.

      Thanks for the comment. Option B is also my favourite, and I would also add a BKB to it. I only buy aghs when I'm vs PL, CK, Naga, or Meepo, or when I'm losing and defending hg. I go for dagon if I'm stomping and playing vs Morph, or generally squishy heroes (max 1 strength enemy).
      I will also insist that quickcast is far better, just tryhard it. I personnally wasn't using it before, but I forced myself and it's day and night when you play Tinker.
