  • Well this came in today which was several days early so I had to do the unboxing.
    I was very impressed with the build quality of this unit.
    Not at all comparable to the crappy plastic roll holders that the RXXXX series of EPSON printers come with. This one is a solid and well very built unit!
    Best thing is I got it for $150 vs the normal retail $250.
    In the next video I will show you how to set it up, prep the paper, load it, set up the driver settings and print a nice 13x19 right in front of the camera!

    Hi Joe.
    I am trying to find one of these roll paper adapters to buy.
    Do you have any idea where I could find one?
    Thanks

    My Epson Pro 4900 is now a 120 pound paperweight. Can the roll adapter from the 4900 be used on the 800? I'd like to salvage at least something from the 4900.

      I know how you must feel. Know EPSON I doubt they would be remotely interchangeable though.

      @@cheo1949 yea, I waited too long. Out of production at Epson, been surfing Ebay and elsewhere. DPreview forums has a couple guys who 3d printed the parts, but so far they haven’t responded. :(

    I was just wondering if you still plan on doing the beginning printing video series. I am really looking forward to it. I appreciate any videos on the pro 1000 and/or the sc-800 printers. I do look forward to buying one in the next year or so. I currently own the pro 9000 mark ii from canon. I enjoy printing my photos on it, however; they don't always come out optimally.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 8 lety

      They are coming. I have to write up an outline of how I am going to proceed. It will not be about any specific printer. That is what my different playlists on individual printer models are for. I do not yet have a PRO-1000 so that will be not be included for a while. I could always use the P800 as the printer for the series but other folks may want to see another printer being featured so.....

    • @TPD605
      @TPD605 Před 8 lety

      I did not expect the beginning printer series to be about a specific printer. Just an overall printing guide to help me out with what I have now. I do appreciate the videos on the p800, as this is one of the printers I am considering. I don't want to buy anything until I understand how to use what I have now and, when I can print well with that, maybe I will upgrade. I have learned a lot from you and hope to continue to do so.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 8 lety

      Since the P800 and the PRO-100 seem to be the most popular printer out there at the moment, I think they will be the printer I use for this series. Thanks!

    I just ordered mine for 160euro because the box is damaged. Was planning to build a holder myself but for 160 it was a bit easier to swallow then for 250-260.

    Hi Jose, im curious to know if this adapter for p800 will work on the p807, the asian/australian version of the p800. Its the same printer with a different name and chip i suppose.

    • @cheo1949

    I just acquired a P800. So far I love it! I'm considering getting the roll adapter but I have limited space behind the printer. Can you or a subscriber tell me how much space is required for the roll adapter behind the basic printer. I even called Epson support and the person I talked to couldn't answer my question

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 8 lety

      A foot is a safe amount of space. Actually less but so you are not completely
      cramped, I would suggest 12"

      Thank you for the prompt answer to my question, Jose. Now I know I'll have to move the file cabinet on which my P800 sits by three inches. Reminds me of a quote by the well-known photographer, Arnold Newman: "Photography is 10% inspiration and 90% moving furniture." I just didn't know it would be my own furniture. - Jim

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 8 lety +2

      NO. They are very expensive and that was one of the big criticisms here in the USA. But let me tell you. This thing is really well built and is very solid and works perfectly.I am just now finish up the video for the operational demo of it! It will up later on today.

    I need help, got my roll adapter, using inkjet film, starts to load but then says there is a jam, repeated this many times, no luck, any suggestions

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 4 lety

      It's not the roll adapter per se but the inkjet film not being properly grabbed by the media transport system.

    • @myoung48281
      @myoung48281 Před 4 lety

      @@cheo1949 So it turns out to be some kind of error, I havn't figured out exactly yet, will let you know, but basically the film gets advanced to the front set of rollers and printer gives paper jam message. When it's working properly, the film advances about half way between front and rear rollers (as viewed by opening printer cover) at which point I hit the load button and film advances to proper place ready for printing, weird.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  Před 4 lety

      Make sure the front edge is PERFECTLY square to the side edges and you load it just as square from the rear loader. Or you will get that error. In thought you were having paper transport problems AFTER successfully loading it.
