Be honest Iceland people of Iceland more friendly
My suggestion for anyone traveling to Iceland , don't shop in the store she just showed you(10-11) , that is the most expensive store you can walk into , there is a reason it only survives in down town Reykjavík. Most likely tourists keeping it alive. Go for Bónus or Krónan , More affordable.
really good tip thankyou!
Ok, so I am Norwegian. The Icelandic language is Norrøn or old Norwegian. Of course Icelandic has changed somewhat compared to old Norwegian. I would say Norwegian today is Grammarly speaking more like Danish. And that`s what I like about Iceland. That they have kept their old language. Norway is a mixture of old Norwegian and Danish. And we have way more dialects than any country in Europe. In Norway that is.
Danish? In Denmark people dont even understand each other, because its so influenced with German
Iceland is mini norway and they speak more or less old Norse. So we like both equally.😎❤️🇧🇻
Iceland's population is 7% of Norway. Almost 0.4 million
We are not mini norway, quite different. Different language, different culture and behaviour very different nature
As an Icelander I really felt like that when I visited Norway around Christmas time, I was stunned by how beautiful the country is and its architecture etc. I also thought Iceland might be similar if we only had 14 times more people. I was also quite sad that we were split of from you for centuries. From the early 19th century we have had to struggle with linguistic Puritanism which fortunately enables us to read the Sagas relatively easily but prevents us from communicating with Norwegians in our own language. P.S. I think a lot of icelandic national identity is based on the Sagas and that Saga-age in our history but I think there are a lot more Icelanders that would want to be able to speak, watch, read Norwegian than those who currently read the sagas. Very unfortunate this puritanism, we can think Rasmus Rask for that.
Norway, of course.
Icelandic is similar to the language that the Vikings spoke,. If I were a Viking I would have been able to communicate with a modern Icelandic person. However, many people in Iceland learn Danish, but they are unable to learn the Danish prononciation so when they speak Danish it sounds like Norwegian. The Faroese language is by the way similar to Icelandic but a bit closer to Norwegian.
Icelandic is very closely related to Faroese and Western Norwegian
@@lucaeriksen they are related but not similar. Grammaticly very different and also very different spoken
@@Torsteinsson yeah I know. I only comment on the fact that they are related
@@Torsteinsson and that Icelandic is more related to western Norwegian then to the entire Norwegian language because of the dialects
We were in Greenland in August, and will be in Sweden, Denmark and Norway next month. Iceland (and Finland) will have to wait for other trips.
Incomparable. Both have beautiful views and people! I would probably say that Iceland is slightly more modern than Norway but the Peace of Norway is amazing! Both are awesome but Norway has my heart ❤
I feel the same way, Hasan 🥹 Iceland is gorgeous but Norway .. Norway is home ☺️
I’m planning my trip to Norway right now 😉 can wait to show you some of our ‘second home’ country 😎
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel That's awesome, and Anna do remember Svalbard is a must, especially in July or in January! Also this time go to Å. The cod liver oil and fish is worth it!
I would love to visit both! Great video!
I was born and raised in Norway before moving to the states and actually visited Iceland for the first time at about the same time you were there. Loved Iceland but feel I need to revisit Norway again to be able to honestly answer your question. Right now it is a bit like asking to pick a favorite child, lol.
Welcome back! I hope this will be a weekly event.
this was great and so timely for me. I have visited Iceland three times (from U.S.) and love it. I am going to Norway for the first time in March (Tromso) and have been wondering how similar the two countries will be. Thanks so much
I am assuming this is a fraudulent message with all of the little hand emojis and I have no idea what telegram is. Just wanted to comment so that the channel owner sees this.
@@rev.ruthe.gallot9103 They are asking for you to pay using gift cards for International Shipping with charges of $143 to $257. I'm afraid they got too much information from me. Thanks for writing this, I was going to write in about this too. I just didn't know how to approach it. I hope Anna will read this ...and take appropriate measures.
the incredibly poor English was the tip off for me, not to mention all of the silly pointing fingers as part of the name. So I ignored and posted in hopes that Anna would see it.
Hello Anna from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Norway for the win!!!
you are one of the funnier blogger which I saw this year ;)
It’s my dream someday to move to Norway
Hello Anna ✌❤👍
inhaling during the "ja" is also something we do in french sometimes :D. I use to live in Norway and now I am in iceland, so your video is gold me for!!!! :D merci Anna! Dry fish is so cheap here comparing to Norway right? so what country do you prefer? for me Norway 200% :D
Norway's beautiful and the norwegians are friendly and positive people. If I'd have to pick another nationality it would be norwegian. The thing is... When driving around Norway you almost always have to prolong the drive with double the time because of the mountains. As a Dane I hate mountains, nice as they are, but they are sooo inconvenient. In Iceland there's mountains as well, but it's not that many things you do in the countryside except for visiting tourist sights and enjoying the occasional volcano 🤪 My pick therefore is Iceland, hence people are as friendly as in Norway.
Underrated
Beautiful
I spent three months in Trondheim, Norway! The view is gorgeous, the fjords are just breath taking and the quality of life is very good. However I would like to visit the other Scandinavian countries but at least for now I am still in love with Norway. If you are coming to here, we could share a coffee 😉😂
Trondheim 🤩🤩🤩 that’s amazing!! I haven’t made it to there yet! But definitely on my travel list 😉
You're right about the tap water in Norway! Tasted great, and never had any unpleasant after effects! I can't even say that about American tap water! The water in Sweden and Denmark is good too; but the Norwegian water is the best overall... :)
And Espresso House! My best friend all over Scandinavia... :)
Exactly!! I think so too 😉 I prefer Norwegian water to the rest of Scandinavia 🙌🏻
Even water in England or in Italy cannot compare with Norwegian one .. definitely the best!
Gosh I miss is it so much! 😁
I'm Norwegian and me and my family visited Denmark in the summer, and it were a "shock" that the water there did taste kind of funny...chlorine like..
While you are in the area...maybe drop by Faroe Islands? Otherwise I would like to hear your opinion about Sweden and Denmark. You already know about the relationship between the "Scandinavian brothers". We love to point out the distinctions between us, and make fun of each other, but at the same time we are so similar in almost everything culturally and politically, that the differences may seem silly to people from the outside. But we have to point them out to create distinction like siblings banter to keep things interesting and hopefully funny. Behind this facade we love each other and trust in each other deeply. In truth though, it seems that the main "fight" is between Denmark and Sweden, with Norway, Iceland and Finland stand back and watch. After the viking age it is Sweden and Denmark who have been the biggest "empire makers", and seen themselves as significant on the international stage. As a result Sweden and Denmark may be less interested in the other nordic countries than we are in them. In later history, when thoughts of empire has dwindled away, we like to see each other as equals with similar development trajectories. Maybe Sweden is the country that pride itself most on being the most "modern" country, while Norway scores highest on the worlds democracy index, and with Denmark on top of the happiness index.
Your poster of this video's you look like very soft funny and loving Vikings
Aww thank you so much ☺️🤗
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel can I learn Norwegian by any app , I learned only one Norwegian word hund haa haa hund means 🐕
I really want to visit Norway and Denmark. I’m actually practicing my Norwegian on Duolingo to prepare! I’d love to see you visit Denmark and compare their culture to Norway and Iceland. 😊
Hi Amber!
So true! Both are incredibly fascinating country 😊 you don’t really need to learn the language to visit them, everyone speaks English there anyway 🙂
Denmark is on my travel list 😉 it’s definitely coming soon!
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel that’s kind of what I figured about the language but I still think it’ll be cool to know some Norwegian to learn more about their culture and be able to show my interest.
Norway is my dream 😍
By the way anna tell me how much profitable is open a small cafe in Norway how much expensive open a cafe in Norway in USD
I´m partial towards Sweden, but really want to visit Norway. I also love Finland.
I'm now in Norway
Is not a big shock that iceland and norway is pretty simular since under viking age norse vikings settled it xD
But its not similar
As an Icelander, I say já and nei and pretty much just many things while inhaling
I would say both, somethings similar and somethings different, but overall I would say very similar
Which country (Norway or Iceland) is more affordable in cost of living?
Soft heart anna goldgirl I love Norway so much and I love all cold countries with snow beauty the real white gold
Well, now you should visit all scandinavian countries and then arrange a video with all your friends from those countries to talk about differences. 😀
Scandinavia is only Norway, Sweden and Denmark 😊
Kind of a fun fact, I will say Norwegians understand Swedish, Danish and Icelandic easier than they can understand Norwegian. Young Danes do also use English more than Danish. You would understand when you hear them count 🤯 Loved the video and your hilarious inhaling ja🤣🤣
🤩🤩🤩 wow!! I didn’t know this! Super cool!
Thank you very much 😀🤗 love it!
No Norwegians understand Icelandic
@@Torsteinsson maybe not fully, but Norwegians would understand Icelandic easier than Sweds and Danes understand Icelandic f.ex.
@@bragnadurhild No Scandinavians would understand Icelandic, only words here and there, unless they have learned it.
@@ole7146 as you see in the reply over, I say we maybe not fully would understand, but my opinion is that norwegians have easier to understand Icelandic than other Scandinavians..
We are vikings.
Icelandic tend to be extroverted compared to their scandinavian cousins.

I prefer Norway
Great video! Sorry to sound pedantic but in your otherwise perfect English you make a mistake which you shouldn't make when talking about Iceland! Icelandic is the adjective and the name of the language. (I don't speak Icelandic, an Icelandic fishing harbour). You cannot add an 's' to Icelandic. The inhabitants are called Icelanders.
Norway: you can buy alcohol in ordinary shops , just not drinks with a stronger alcohol percentage than 4.7 % alcohol strength
