- Nintendo is back in the news this week after it was confirmed that they denied Metroid being in an extremely popular game. The Digital Era is getting closer and it looks like some of the major publishers are not interested in pursuing the idea of preservation for online games.

"no legal way to preserve online games" How about not shoving an online requirement into every single player and multiplayer game with a solo mode? When the Halo 2 servers went down we could still play Halo 2, there's no excuse to making a game like the crew require an online connection when it has a single player mode.
What I don't understand is that there a ton of legacy titles that fans have been running private servers to play for a long time. You can still play the original Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast online with people. You need to have access to the servers but it works. Same goes for Universe and others as well. When they're going to shut these games down they need to just hand the server rights over to the fans.
@@matthewbarrios1028Honestly, that'd be preferable to just shutting down the games altogether, but, being realistic, they're not gonna care about what happens to their games.
These companies would change their tune really quick if people stop supporting these moves by buying these games in the first place

The digital age is coming?!!! Really?!! And here I thought it was already here for the last 14 years. That's the thing about the US I hate... we are so so behind the curve on top of having the laziest most sold out group of seniors running the gov that we don't have rights to repair, rights of ownership, privacy control and saftey, etc. But we sure as hell can help big corporations with free cash, support their layoffs, and protect their own interests whether its digital, or cancer causing profit margins. YAY!!
The real question is “Will Perfect Dark have a jump button?”
I forget you couldn't jump in that game 😮
I don't think so, but maybe it will have a rocket jumping mechanic.
ftc banning noncompete clauses will help a lot of people working in the tech industry
Yeah. Imagine signing a non-compete and then getting laid off six months later because of budget cuts.
good thing about non-compete is that they're largely never enforceable due to preventing gainful employment in many cases.
@@jubei20111As I understand it, the enforce-ability of non-competes varies significantly by state. I’m not an expert on this by any means. But from what I’ve (sporadically) read, they are practically null in California - but in other states, the laws permit them to be enforced within certain bounds, depending on the nuances of how they are written, etc.
@@sfbsfb It comes down to the judge in many cases and most judges historically don't want people to have to move states in order to find employment in their given field. These NC's most often found not legal previously were the ones which were unreasonable in time or geographic scope, which many were. NC's really small in scope were more likely to hold up.
@@jubei20111 Great information, thanks for explaining. It has been years since I looked into this, but what you wrote seems consistent with my recollection. I live in Georgia, and I believe the state laws were written such that NCs can be enforced if their scope is reasonably limited in certain ways. That said, my sense is that many companies have adapted accordingly, and have written NC in a way that they stand some fair chance of holding up (in this state).
And then, of course there is the “chilling effect” of workers not wanting to risk everything by hoping the NC falls apart. One of my co-workers twice asked our employer to release him from the NC, and was twice refused. (Not an executive or even in management.). He has kids, and there are only so many employers in our field - so he has stayed put. He is OK on paper, great guy to work with actually - but I suspect this has substantially contributed to his cynicism and impaired his general outlook on his life and career.
This is why we still enjoy retro games, because we never needed an internet connection to play them.
I don’t need Internet connection to play Elden Ring, Demons Souls remake, Horizon Forbidden West, SpiderMan 2, LOZ TOTK, Princess Peach Showtime, Dead Island 2, Far Cry 6, FF16/Rebirth, Armored Core 6, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Tekken 8….
PLENTY of modern games don’t require internet connection post installation from the physical disc and very much beatable.
Gotta take the rose colored glasses off and stop talking right out of your @rse.
Even if games go full digital, people will emulate or pirate them if they want some sort of preservation anyway as we progress through the years with improved technology to the emulation scene.
So, in essence, your comment makes no sense at all.
@cbgg1585 but some do make the game easier with online. Like dark souls. But, that obviously one out of 100.

This is just my opinion to each their own! Movies, music, and video games digital has some benefits but when companies do this by pulling straight from our libraries then that is bad business that is not “we are for the consumer”! They think they are in control but in reality without us actually buying their products they don’t have any power!! That is what many forget! Without us buying they sell nothing! This whole oh you’re buying the right to use it bs they are pushing we shouldn’t stand for! If someone broke into your home and stole items in your home, how would you feel if the insurance company said oh sorry you get less based off of what you said was taken because when you bought some of those items you were just in a contract to use those items but you didn’t really own them! It be the exact same thing! Again there can be benefits of digital but these companies are doing it all wrong and being shady with it! No one right now should 100% trust full digital until these companies turn themselves around! Again this is just my opinion to each their own!
Totally agree....the way ownership's being handled right now's absolutely disgusting with All 3 platforms.
These are publicly listed companies… they work for the shareholders, not the consumer.
And they know threats from the 0.1% of consumers that care about video game preservation are utterly toothless. Which is why they keep doing what they’re doing.
Think about it: Is there any video game you personally boycotted out of principle that went on to have poor sales overall?
I loved Sonic Frontiers myself, it had its flaws, the pop in was extremely annoying and it had repetitive and simplistic objectives but it's heart was in the right place, if Sonic Team can build on that concept Sonic Frontiers 2 will be a fantastic game
I never owned or played it but I did have fun watching speed runs of the game.

@@NuiYabuko no it’s just complaining.
I saw a video a few years back that explained why Nintendo are so frisky with their IPs. It goes back to Donkey Kong and Universal suing them for copyright infringement with King Kong. During the case it was revealed that Universal didn't really have exclusive trademark rights on King Kong (the copyrights were split between them and other entities, with no exclusivity possible). I gloss over the whole thing, but the point is that they lost hard. Nintendo were certainly happy for winning the case, but apparently they were also shaken by the fact how easily a big company can lose exclusive rights to an IP, if they don't have guaranteed control over it. It basically gave them second-hand PTSD.
That doesn't excuse many dumb decisions, overly aggressive attacks on fan works and many other things. It still gives me perspective on why they are like that, but I wish they loosen up a bit.
I forgot about that! But yeah, I agree they still hold too tight a grip on their IPs when it comes to people just having fun with their stuff. It is nice to see them not being as stingy as they have been like Star Fox in Starlink, Mario + Rabbids, Cadence of Hyrule shows they can still let people play with their IPs so it shows some hope
Overly aggressive attacks on fan works? lol
And sorry, but if someone doesn't actually tell us, those are all assumptions.
@@mrlionman5466 That's been a thing for years, though? "Overly stingy", perhaps they want interesting pitches not just "fans" using their assets to remake a game.
My issue with the argument of exposure is that there is no evidence that having a skin in fornite boosts sales. With a tv adaptation is different because you are in that world, making you more curious for the material. While in fornite you just dress up as them, you have too seek out that ip which to some might no be worth it.
exactly!! it didn't help God of war or halo sell more.. like nintendo wanted you can have it exclusively for our platform user.. like they did in soulcalibur each console had their own ip skin in or character in it..
I thought it would give the Metal Gear Solid franchise enough exposure to have a noticeable effect on sales or at least internet chatter/streaming, but I don’t think most kids are curious enough to look deeper into most things unless it really makes an impression on them. With Fortnite the characters that are brought in from other franchises - their skins and unique animations don’t seem to be enough to boost interest in their respective franchises. I hoped that the addition of Solid Snake would come with one or two voice lines but alas it did not.
It’s kinda like fortnite ends up reeling audiences into Fortnite rather than sending them out to play these games.
The only one benefiting in the long run from these skins are Epic and fortnite.
They are all in on creating their metaverse/ IP orgy.
Don't the skins also not do much? Like, they're just skins and the gameplay doesn't change? Because I think if it was like fighters in Smash that come with their own playstyle, stage and music, then they might've actually let Samus in. But just for dress-up?
Not gonna lie, I would've laughed if I saw the memes of "Oh look! It's Samus from Fortnite!" trending throughout the internet.
Would samus from Fortnite be able to crawl?

Stop the digital age by stop buying digital games at full price.
This is a confusing statement, given that pc users have literally no choice but going digital. At least there are very cheap games everywhere.

@Deliveredmean42 not so confusing, really. They just said to buy stuff on sale, never at full price. Which is already what I do on pc anyways 😂. Maybe they'd fix their thinking (console wise) if they find games don't sell digitally until they're less than 50$ for a triple A title.
@@Deliveredmean42pc users can also pirate, emulate, mod, and decompile much more easily- which I think is a fair trade off
While I would’ve loved to see the Metroid games get more exposure as a result of Fortnite, I don’t know how interested that audience would be in Metroid and I think a Film/Show adaptation would only benefit the Metroid IP much more.
Here’s the thing with that. It has to be good film or show. I don’t see Halo going up in sales from the show. Grant it, game pass is a thing. However, Fallout is doing fantastic. Those games are on game pass but they are selling. So I rather get a Fortnite skin over a bad tv show that was ruin the franchise
@@joegardner851 you’re correct but I’d be hopeful Nintendo wouldn’t screw it up, they knocked it out of the park with Mario and while that was much easier than Metroid, I think they’d put enough effort into looking for the best path for a Metroid adaptation. I think the live action Zelda movie will be a good indicator of how Nintendo can handle these things, albeit a Metroid movie/show wouldn’t necessarily need to be live action.

@@faceurhell I disagree, NO game should have a "always online" requirement, even if PVP, especially fighters. I can see something like Fortnite, but even then. They should really all have a local network mode honestly without a online always requirement. Case in point: Marvel vs Capcom 2... a highly played game in the fighting community, even at tournaments - this game would be useless if it required that. Ultimately anything getting sunset/server support dropped should be patched for that even if it never gets picked up again. People should be allowed to use their game even if it cannot go online.
The lapel mic bit made me laugh, thank you for that Jon
Not sure why people are upset about Samus not appearing at fortnite. Just play with any other billion characters. It is just one character.
I think it's mainly due to many people wishing Metroid could sell as well as other Nintendo franchises, some Metroid titles have managed to sell some decent numbers in the past, like Prime and Dread, but it pales in comparison to other Nintendo games, even to more recent franchises like Splatoon. The Metroid seres has been always held in high regard by various fans, perhaps because it's tone is very different compared to other Nintendo franchises, and seeing that Fortnite is one of the most popular games of all time they think that having Samus appear in the game can give the Metroid series more exposure, though I don't know if appearing in Fortnite has helped other games to sell better
I like samus more than most of the characters in fortnite
Another one in reference to Samus is Star Fox on the Star Link game
Nintendo put exclusive contents in third party games/contents had gone way back. These are a few of them:
Link in Soul Calibur II (GameCube)
Super Punch-Out included in Fight Night Round 2 (GameCube)
Fire Emblem in Project X Zone 2 (3DS)
Mario, Luigi, and Peach as well as a Nintendo theme basketball court in NBA Street V3 (GameCube)
Wario Blast, a Bomberman game with Wario included (Game Boy)
Super Mario theme contents in Minecraft (Wii U and Nintendo Switch)
Mario costumes in Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition (Wii U)
Link, Zelda, Samus, Mother Brain, and King Hippo appeared in Captain N (DVD)
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic game series (Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and Switch)
Star Fox contents in Star Link (Nintendo Switch)
Samus and Ridley as well as a Metroid stage in Dead or Alive Dimensions (3DS)
Zelda contents in Phantasy Star Online 2 - Cloud Edition (Nintendo Switch)
Nintendo contents in Rocket League (Nintendo Switch)
Takamaru and the Marasame Castle Mode in Samurai Warriors 3 (Wii)
Nintendo contents in Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

The Whole collective West is heading to the fall.
Wishful thinking. The issues discussed in this video are not even in the radar of 99.9% of consumers.
As a platform holder if you've abandoned one of your platforms, that is by definition is abandonware so anything on that platform is fair game.
Dude, if SEGA could get Sonic Frontiers 2 out for the Switch 2, that would be an awesome launch title for the console. My biggest criticism was the regular levels. They control weird and aren't responsive, even Sonic Forces handled those kinds of levels better and as someone who liked how Sonic levels were before, that's kind of a bummer. The game is a good with some obvious flaws.

@@istealpopularnamesforlikes3340 You don't speak for everyone. it was a good game in the right direction. You just don't make a banger right away with a new concept. the games that come after perfecting the format will (or should) be better. Look at the original Super Mario bros. Still kind of fun today but is overshadowed by the future games like Super Mario bros 3.
Another example is Kingdom Hearts 1. it can be fun to play at times today, but has some major issues. However, the next major game, Kingdom Hearts 2 was such an improvement and a ton of fun to play in every aspect. Just because the first game in a new idea isn't perfect, you have to look at the overall concept if it could be better if worked on more.
So even though frontiers had its problems, it was in the right direction and entertaining for so many. Now we wait to see if they improve or not in the next one.
If this concept you don't find fun, then I'm sorry but looks like the majority wants to see what the future holds. Maybe you'll like it! never know. In the meantime, player other games and don't think too much on it and stay positive!
If there's no recourse on game preservation than fully expect every level of piracy to continue to skyrocket.
This insistence for Sonic Adventure 3 is just silly, there is no such thing as SA3, the games that came after SA2 are its sequels, period. SA1 and SA2 are so different from each other that there is not even a Sonic Adventure "formula" to be followed...
It makes me wonder, would renaming Sonic Frontiers as Sonic Adventure 3 satisfy you?!
I have an idea, replace Sonic Frontier's OST for new Crush 40's songs and slap a Sonic Adventure 3 label on top of Sonic Frontiers' logo.... there, job done.

I think a bigger issue than live service shut downs is the fact that they can just strip the license away. That's way worse lol
Biggest issue with the Crews situation is Ubisoft revoking rights to even have it in your library. I can still play Halo 3 online today on the 360 because people have brought private servers back. If anyone does that for the crew they're going to be sol if they downloaded it which is BS.
I am of the opinion that every online game should be required to release an API for hosting private servers or switch the game to a P2P hosting model once the company decides to shut down their official servers.
So you don’t believe in free market capitalism then? Good luck finding any country in the World that would dare to implement such a requirement.
@@happyspaceinvader508 I believe in consumer protections which can and do exist in capitalist systems. Switch firmware works well. I don't think there needs to be any major changes to it.
If we like it or not, digital games are going to be the future, we don’t own them anymore, so we shouldn’t pay full price anymore, we should wait till they are on subscription services like gamepass, it’s the only way that makes sense now.
Well the Seven Seas haven't gone anywhere.
Nintendo: "Rejoice, pleb, as your beloved and iconic character from another platform gets represented in our party brawling game as shitty skins."
Epic: "wanna put Samus in fortnite and possibly introduce more people to Metroid?"

Samus in Fortnite would have been huge exposure. For anyone saying it would ruin Samus, if the abomination known as Other M can’t kill Samus, nothing can.
I want this so more people can play and love Metroid and so I can get more and more hi guy quality Metroid more frequently.
I don't think younger audiences playing fornite would care about samus in the slightest. They would just play more fortnight with rather than buy a metroid game. It would only be for the 30 somethings to show their brand loyalty buy purchasing a skin.
I feel like the push for digital future is strictly due to companies looking at the profits of the Steam Deck and Steam and not looking at *why* Steam Deck/Steam is beneficial to the consumer
Makes me afraid we are about to have the same problem streaming services have caused when Netflix became a juggernaut but for videogames. Someone like Bandai or Activision carving up distribution making their own storefronts
It’s like they saying we want y’all to play the game but we don’t want y’all to own it but we want y’all to rent it but we don’t wanna tell y’all that. Tf
To be fair, I'd had issues with my Switch's wifi not seeing my network, so I'm glad they're getting that firmware out.
I still don't understand why a great series such as metroid is a low selling franchise?
I think it is mainly due to a lot of different factors:
- Search-action or Metroidvania-style games aren't that popular compared to other genres;
- There was a huge gap between the release of Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, heck, my first exposure to Metroid was through Samus' appearance in the first Smash Bros.;
- The first 2 Prime games were released on the GameCube, which was Nintendo's second lowest-selling home console, so not many people played those games;
- Metroid Other M and Federation Force were not well received by fans;
- Metroid's overall tone is widely different from other Nintendo games, it's sci-fi and almost horror tone clashes a lot compared to Nintendo's more traditional family-friendly image, or even some of its more anime-style games like Fire Emblem or Xenoblade and the attempt at making Metroid more action oriented and a bit more anime-stylized resulted in Other M
Unfortunately, whether a game or franchise is 'great' is all subjective. Metroid has devoted fans like all of Nintendo's IPs do, but it just doesn't appeal to as many people as something like Mario or Zelda does. Even Zelda is fairly 'niche' compared to Mario, being the only Nintendo IP to really have broken out of the gaming space and achieve mass appeal outside of the video game industry. Even non-gamers know who Mario is! The same can't really be said about Nintendo's other franchises for the most part (Pokemon is kind of a technicality since it's not entirely Nintendo's IP there).
@@qactustick I wouldn't consider The Legend of Zelda a nicer franchise, Breath of the Wild managed to sell over 30 million copies and Tears of the Kingdom over 20 million. We'll have to see if the live-action movie that is in development will manage to become a hit similar to Mario's movie
Name a game franchise that’s actually benefitted from having their characters in Fortnite. There isn’t one.
Literally None, Fortnite players are brainless people who thinks fortnite is the only game existed and keep begging for 3rd party ip's.
You act as if some public or marketing benefit was the point for the franchise. It's not. Fortnite pays people to have their franchises in the game because it benefits fortnite. Thats why fortnite isnt nearly as profitable as it would seem. The franchise license holders made money, that's the point for them.
Name franchises that were completely ruined by having their characters in fortnite. There isn't one.
You people are acting like apple cultists.
When solid snake dropped I explained to my squad mates who he is and they got interested because they never knew that’s where the “!” Meme comes from.
There is actually already a Halo VR game. They had it at an in person event. Haven't heard anything about it since then, so I'm assuming it was shelved.
Tiny wii is awesome. Imagine walking up to the party with a couple wii remotes in your bag and ready-to-play wii sports in your pocket.
Nintendo considers its first party characters “ambassadors” of their brand. Nintendo works hard to cultivate and maintain their brand as a family friendly company. If they allow their characters to appear in games they do not control there is a risk (however remote) that those characters may be used, intentionally or not, in a way that damages that brand. I expect Nintendo, who we already know can be paranoid at times, considers this an unacceptable risk; especially since their games already carry value and sales on their own.
It's so stupid though, especially considering Fortnite is what many would consider a "family-friendly" game. A lot of kids play it. Barring standard multiplayer shenanigans, the game has nothing more than cartoony violence.
Nintendo's over-protectiveness of their IPs is what leads to them treating their fanbase like trash, namely when it comes to game preservation and content creation.
There is no legitimately tangible way in which Samus in Fortnite would seriously harm or dirty Samus's reputation. They're just utterly scared at the idea of their IPs being seen in a game on a non-Nintendo console. Besides, Nintendo didn't say that they would NEVER allow Samus to be in Fortnite. Rather, they said they would only be okay with Samus skins in Fortnite if they were only visible to Switch players, which is so idiotic. If Sony is perfectly fine with Kratos skins being completely visible to Xbox players in Fortnite (which they are), then Nintendo should be a-okay with Samus being visible to PlayStation and Xbox players as well. But alas, this is just Nintendo being Nintendo.
Very well said, completely agree, though I think that's only one reason among many. Mainly, they want people to go to THEIR games and hardware to experience their IPs, since they know they have high quality, proven IPs, and their IPs drive all their other businesses.
Regarding perfect dark, I’ve said it before, but 2k 60fps should’ve been the target standard for this gen.
Sony promised this for the PS4 Pro
Metroid doesn’t need to get out there, it’s been around for over 30 years…. If people haven’t jumped on by now they’re not going to
finally sega actually building upon what they already have instead of throwing everything away and starting again, hopefully the next game will actually be good
Halo combat evolved was locked at 30 FPS, if memory serves and that is one of my favorite shooters.
Yes, 60 is nice. But it's far from mandatory
That game was so fun that people ran out and spent HUNDREDS of dollars on a system just to be able to play it.
Fun is more important than frames
Factual
@@Real_Name_Redacted But frames make you have more fun
Gears of War would be the best Microsoft IP to translate into VR because you don't jump.
Yeah, no surprise about why Samus can't be in Fortnite. Just look at Rocket League: there you have Mario, Luigi and Samus themed cars - but only on the Switch. When you play on PC you'll see all those Switch players having cars from the regular set instead.
Nintendo: we like your character only on Nintendo platform
Also Nintendo: release games of Nintendo IP on smartphone
I think we all knew that digital distribution would only benefit companies lol. If GTSport can get an offline update, the Crew can as well
The Crew was a terrible game
@user-in8qh3zf9d Oh I agree, I thought it was awful. BUT, there are people who love it and should still be able to play the game they paid for.
Microsoft definitely isn't ready for VR development but they should definitely start working on a halo game for the quest 3 soon.
This is why I stay away from online only games now that have no single player mode
If only it was possible for game to not require a server to work. To bad that just not possible.
Vote with your dollar.
Hopefully Helldivers makes it to all platforms and everyone can enjoy the game. Would be a big win for gamers.
Even if Switch 2 can handle the graphics, there’s no reason to think it’ll have the online infrastructure for smooth crossplay.
If you want to play it nothing is stopping you from playing it just get a ps5 or pc.
The IP is owned by Sony, but I believe they should release it on xbox, in good faith of xbox's own third party initiative .
@@zainebrown1351Already play it on PC. But go ahead and cry over plastic
@@joerocket5Joe once again upset that facts are stated. Reported.
“The digital era is coming” … the digital era is here and the US has been so far behind on legislating technical security, digital rights, and other tech issues for decades. I doubt we will ever get good legislation geared toward consumers
Nintendo is extremely stubborn when it comes to sharing their ip's with other platforms.
Public libraries are going the way of the drive-in movie. They won't exist in ten years. I'm all for some solution but public libraries shouldn't be a part of that.
Not true. Books are still a thing. People do read.
@@G360LIVE People still do a lot of things, but the percentage of people doing a lot of those things, this particular thing, is drastically reduced from its high and dropping all the time. Some of those readers are aging out as well. Reading long-form is down, reading long-form using physical books (vs. digital means) is down. If you don't like ten years, make it twenty. We'll have entire generations who've never held or used a physical book. We had one library close for lack of interest and plans to build one scrapped in our area.
Thank God. I was so worried Jon didn’t have a lapel mic.
How would Samus hold a two handed weapon in Fortnite tho since she technically only has one hand?? lol
Nintendo is always busy getting in its own way
Kratos, masterchief, doomguy, and many other shouldnt appear on the fortnite for switch, so nintendo gets the lesson
Lesson? It's you that needs the lesson. Try understanding the hardware market and stop the BS 'altruism' of multiplatform convenience that is killing the competitive development of IP.
@@archivalhorror call it whatever you want, but its pretty hiprocrite not allowing Samia in other consoles but not anything when kratos and others are in switch .
"Hey Im not sharing, but you can share with me"
I can always count on the Spawn Wave 🤡 crew for more video game bad news, controversial topics and disappointments. This man always delivers the negativity and I’m all here for it. Yes!
lol. Loved the lapel mic but Jon. You crack me up!
Samus is a badass bounty hunter who has never shot another human. I don't see her doing stupid dances and actually killing people seems kind of a betrayal of her character.
Have they chose Mario or something at least the dances wouldn't have been out of place.
Yeah I don't think companies really care about that, not even Nintendo cared about that
I mean they got vegeta default dancing, that’s not really something they care about lol
Fortnite was never about portraying characters right, lol...
I've seen people say ''I'm glad that Nintendo said no to Fortnite'' because they don't see how that would be a benefit to the franchise... But considering that Fortnite has been on a roll recently with millions of players, plus the fact that Metroid is still not selling huge even with a 130M install base (Dread was bought by only 2.4% of Switch owners) having more people exposed to Metroid is a win-win situation. Even if only 1 person gets interested in the franchise, is 1 person buying new games and supporting and every Metroid fan knows that.
So again, it's a shame that so many Nintendo fans (not Metroid fans) are saying ''Glad this didn't happen''. They don't care since what they really care is Zelda and Mario, and those games will always sell/have more sequels.
Well, Nintendo. They're in a league of their own, they don't care about profits when it comes to their ip's.
Exactly my sentiments. Those people saying they’re glad aren’t fans of Metroid.
@@XxZannexXBS
Castlevania....where's it at Metroid next to fade like konami Castlevania hmmm nothing last forever 👀
Metroid is a cool guy. He kills space pirates and does not afraid of anything.
I don’t have an issue with game servers going down and games not being playable anymore. But games designed like this should not be sold as one-off prices. If they were subscription only from the start then everyone would understand they have a lifecycle that will come to an end.
Helldivers 2 going multiplatform could work well for Sony
It's no surprise that we'll see a sequel to Sonic Frontiers. I really do hope they expand and improve upon the formula they set up, because I do think they have the potential to have a really amazing game.
Considering that Sonic Team has likely switched to Unreal 5 for Frontiers 2. I'd say we'll have quite a treat on ouw hands considering just how many more tools they'll have in their bag.
Hot take: Bring back Mirror's Edge for VR.
Destiny 2 players to The Crew players:
"First time?"
Nintendo having complete control over their characters-- not selling them out and having them do gimmicky, trendy, cheap things-- has given their characters the longevity that most video game characters could only dream of. In this time of 'profit trumps quality' and 'shareholders are more important than customers', it may seem strange, but many of those other companies are struggling, and Nintendo is in a quite comfortable position, doing their own thing.
Plus, Nintendo has gone down that road before, and they learned their lesson.
I think Halo Infinite has a bigger chance of going to Playstation than helldivers 2 going to xbox. But who knows...
The dangers of an all-digital future extend far beyond video games and encompass the very idea of information access and historical preservation.
Control of the narrative, disappearing history, and loss of access are 3 major dangers of an all digital future.
In a purely digital world, whoever controls the platforms that host information can potentially manipulate or delete it. This raises concerns about censorship, suppression of opposing viewpoints, and the shaping of public perception.
And if historical records and media solely exist digitally, there's a risk of them being lost due to data corruption, deliberate deletion, or changes in formats that future technology can't read. This could lead to a distorted understanding of the past.
Also digital information can be easily restricted or blocked, limiting access to knowledge and resources. This could exacerbate social inequalities and hinder education.
If Perfect Dark is not 60 fps its for the "Cinematic Experience" 😅
