YOUNG CANNES LIONS 2016 // RED CROSS // WELCOME HOME

Our entry into the 2016 Young Cannes Lions UK competition. Our brief was to a create a 60 second online commercial to raise awareness for the refugee crisis on behalf of the British Red Cross. We finished Runner up, beating some big agencies. it was a great achievement but heartbreaking all the same to come so close and not win.
We had 48 hours to write, film and edit, and we had to shoot entirely on a smartphone.

OMG!!! I could absolutely see this on TV!!! Ugh i can't believe you didn't win because this was PERFECT!
makes you empathise with the *refugee* from the jump because you literally put US in her shoes in the beginning when she is trying to outrun the dogs that are clearly chasing her.. Really good! PLEASE keep at it! You put so much thought into everything you film... please, Enter every competition out there Matt I know you will make it you have SUCH a gift! You give us these amazing short videos with zero budget I mean I know this is what you love to do and you are so good at it!!! Keep fighting for this! Matt Sears is going to a household name if you stay focused and keep fighting for it!

So close! But oh well.
Thanks so much for all these kind words and encouragement.It really means a lot! I'll always keep making films, i've had some really good responses from my shorts so i'm really hopeful something will develop this year or next, just need a little bit more luck haha. Will just have to wait and see.

Powerful, all encompassing grabbing your heart, mind, and spirit, and fully showing the harsh negativity potentials of this species along with the proper, humanity, empathy, of this species as well! Very Well Done!
And this is after a lifetime of this very species destroying the meaning of “unconditional love and acceptance” for so many, myself included...as the very ones that are supposed to “love” you, are the closest ones showing you the most pain, grief, etc. causing one to distance themselves from others, until little moments.........like THIS!
