"There's a difference between a UFC fight with rules and an actual fight. A real fight."

So now I can soccer kick knee a posted combative? Eye gouge and knee to the balls and elbow 10 to 2 and base of the spine now ??? PRIDE RULES !!!!!! Ok 👌 mma guy wouldn’t stand a chance 😂😂😂
It's so funny. These train fighters know moves that are Illegal in MMA because they can cause brain damage or death. Jim really thinks MMA fighter can only fight with rules also he thinks Riddle isn't smart enough to grab a weapon if he sees his opponent does it first.
It goes even deeper. Corny has the fantasy that Doc goes for an eye or Haku bites...cool well then real fighters know these guys go dirty so they carry a knife and stab when they try. If you go full fantasy, then go all the way...
The debate is two guys agree to fight with no pussy cheap shit: One wrestled in college or is the toughest guy from Oklahoma and the other guy is a pro fighter trained in boxing, wrestling, submissions, etc. The trained pro has an easy time.
You hear that all the time from so-called "self defense" experts, that the skills that trained MMA fighters learn are useless compared to gouges and pokes. That ignores that nothing is stopping the other guy from doing it, and it's much easier to do something you've trained religiously than something you can't practice full force. That's the entire methodology behind judo, that you only train what you can practice repeatedly and what stands up to stress testing.
Seeing as most people carry guns, a real fight usually ends in someone being shot.
Being a UFC fighter isn't going to stop you from being shot.
Jim seems to forget Bradshaw got knocked out by Joey Styles.
Which is apparently a greatly exaggerated description of the event, according to some people.
Of course Styles flat out knocking out JBL makes the basement dwelling smarks wet, though.

Dr Death was like 38 when he got knocked out by Bart, who was 33, and Riddle is 35 now.
In Brawl for All, Steve Williams didn't appear to be in the best shape, "before" his fight against Bart Gunn. Williams lacked the physical conditioning he needed to 1) Prevent getting injured and 2) Have the stamina to avoid getting winded within the first minute of the fight. Everything used to be chiseled from stone and carved of wood, hard edges and rough patches here and there. Now a days it feels minted from plastic just so nice and clean, everyone's a copy of a copy
also, wrestlers of the past used to come from manly evironments.. booker t was living the street life and ended up in prison, before pro wrestling.. most of the current wrestlers just play videogames, scroll social media and actually seem to consider themselves "superstars". nothing wrong with that, but its just way different and i think it doesnt draw that much.
Everyone's generation is the best one, and will defend it. I think riddles point is, "carrying guns and knives in the locker room, doesn't mean you're better..."

@@smurfx Yh it's definitely still possible. I'm an mma fan, but some mma fans are talking as if knowing martial arts means you can beat anybody in the world that doesn't know it, which isn't true. Things like size and power still play a big factor.

In MMA the deadly and damaging moves are all banned, they are very easy to do just locked behind some instincts.
Even Jericho stretched Goldberg in a shoot, and that's when Goldberg was 20 years younger. Riddle would turn Goldberg into a pretzel.
That’s not really anything to brag on. Nobody ever said Goldberg was a legit fighter. Goldberg almost passed out during a real fight with Jericho because he couldn’t get out of a chokehold.

Do you really find it hard to believe that a guy who went 10-3 in the ufc if u count his two nc’s from smoking weed could beat up a guy who was a college wrestler with no actual pro fighting background? Size does matter but so does years of training MMA and fighting at a high level. Docs wrestling background and being juiced to the gills might be enough but you’d have to call a guy who spent 6 years and had a damn good record in the worlds top mma promotion the favorite imo. By any definition 10-3 is better than 0-0 I’m not sure why you can’t process that point. Either Doc would wrestle fuck him or it would look like Gracie/Severn or insert quality amateur out his depth vs mma guy example in all likelihood. Comparing Doctor Death to Sakuraba like it proves your point is silly. He trained MMA and submission grappling for years before the Royce fight he was 8-1 or 9-1 going into that fight. You or me sir don’t have a clue that Doc had the submission grappling ability or defense that would translate effectively to MMA, striking ability, striking defense, chin, footwork, so on so forth. You know he could wrestle that’s it. Maybe Doc would’ve been a monster maybe Riddle would’ve smoked him who knows. All we really know is responding to your snarky argumentative ass is quite annoying.
I don't think Jim realizes that checking Riddles age proved his point. He's a smarter, more conditioned athlete with a higher fight I.Q then any of the burned out 35 year old wrestling in Jim's day.
I love Jim but I can tell that he does not know much about fighting. It`s not that simple to know who would win because fighting does not always work like it`s supposed to best fighter in the world does not beat the second best 100% of the time etc. Also Wrestler instinctively most likely would avoid being on his back because in wrestling you lose automatically (pin) in bjj you don`t. So DR.Death having 100 pound weight advantage would surely help a lot but since Riddle is bjj black belt DR Death might make some huge mistake and get caught in some submission. Also the clothing matters...Jim also keeps talking about eye gouging like you can just easily win the fight by touching someones eye and while is effective strategy WHEN USED IN RIGHT PLACE and I do think they are one of the most effective illegal mma tactics but its no different than saying just punch someone in the face and you will win the fight it´s not that simple you need to be able to control someone first.
Hell, Royce Gacie being on his back is what let him beat Dan Severn because he was able to choke severn out.
I wager you've never seen someone's eyes gouged out of its socket. Its not pretty. The comment brings to mind someone Ive known almost my entire life, who was a legit tough guy on the street, and who fought often and lost rarely. At some point he started "training" in BJJ, and by "training", I mean watching UFC like most ppl who say they 'train' do..Anyway, he still fought often but started losing often, bc he was trying to execute holds he didnt know the science of. The point being that riddle is legitimately trained, but its like the story of the marksman on the rifle range who was bragging about how good he was. So, his D.I. kept him awake, outdoors with nothing to eat for three days, THEN had him run five miles, drop, and hit a target. He could not. Youre absolutely right about most of the things youve said, but ask anyone whose been challenged by a legit fighter on the street, and its an entirely different animal than being in a cage. Im not one of those rednecks who think that "street fighting" is an art, or in any way more effective than MMA, it is not, but I know black belts whose excelled in the cage and cant take being yelled at. Riddle reminds me of the type who'd find himself losing in a street fight and so "okay, I quit. Stop it" and expect it to be over.

I don’t see most the wrestlers beating riddle, he was a former fighter. But everyone seems to forget he has a No-Gi national championship if I remeber correctly, was a former collegiate Wrestler and his entire career was in the ufc and still managed to become top 10 In his division and their world. This was not just another fighter. The man was very good. Though guys like haku were so sick I could see I’m biting a whole ass chunk out of a guy who could start tooling him in a fight. The greatest match up that Jim gave was likely Danny hodge as he was only a middleweight wrestler and the smaller the wrestlers are the more skillful they typically become with it, heavyweights just use throws and trips really. Just my take.
Riddle also has a legit fighting record and a pretty good one too , doesn't really matter who's the toughest now or then what matters is pro wrestling is basically just skinny guys doing flips and playing xbox now and that's the problem , no personalities at all.

Cornette might be right when it comes to the toughness of old school wrestlers. I don't think Cornette quite gets that it's takes more than just being a bruiser to be successful in modern MMA.
Riddle beat Jon jones in college… literally the scariest man who ever lived
Even Ken Shamrock mentioned how rough the locker room was in the Attitude Era and he could really kick Riddle' s ass. I like to see him say that to Haku because he already has a big nose.
Shamrock, in his prime, was defeated in UFC 1 by a smaller, less well rounded, less talented, and less athletic version of Matt Riddle. Shamrock looked like a world beater against bums and lost to almost every fighter who had some skill and determination.

2 things: I hate hearing modern wrestling saying "we're smarter than the wrestlers from yesteryear" as if they didn't basically replace the drugs & guns with reckless spots. Undertaker, much like his peers, refuses to confront the actual problem. Vince controls everything to a T. Start there and then work your way down from production to the talent.
