Yo, Badger, long time player here. If you haven't discovered them yet, there are two characters with special gore kills depending on their weapons and enemy.
Jiro + Katana Melee + Charged Melee Kill on Cloakers = Chopped in Half or Beheaded
Bodhi + Platypus Sniper Rifle + Headshot on Tazers = Chunks of Head GONE
God, I wish they did more of these special kills.
You can also get a blt-mod that allows anyone to perform these gorey kills with any weapon

Martial arts aced, bloodthirst basic, berserker basic, counterstrike aced, frenzy aced, underdog aced, high value target basic, low blow (i think it's called) aced, nine lives aced. u can add more stuff in the skills. Infiltrator perk deck (use sociopath if you want) any weapons, any grenades. Idk I'm commenting this but this is just a melee build i use that's a non-infamy & console build. Pretty much works on PC as well.

It's actually 50%, doesn't work 100% with me
So the way it works is that when you set up a drill, it flips a coin to decide whether it'll be a melee fixable drill. If you hit it once and fix it, it will be fixed every time you hit it. If you hit it once and it doesn't get fixed, you will never be able to fix it with melee.
