In this video I cover the main changes with the Digital SAT, especially focusing on the new digital SAT English section. I'm going to tell you the 10 types of questions that you need to be able to master if you want to get a 1600 on the SAT. Throughout the video you'll see examples of questions that come directly from the material we're using in our Digital SAT Class.
And if you want to see how we put that material into action, I live streamed our second class, which was the first one that really focused on the English portion of the new test. I explain the best digital SAT strategies and give you all the digital SAT tips and tricks that I've learned from taking the test. I'm a high school principal in Guatemala and a former National Merit scholar. I was going to do what you've done and game the test to see how it adapts to a perfect score on the first module versus hitting other score points on purpose. Great! Good luck with that. In my experience, I used to focus much more on general reading strategies and even specific ones to apply to certain types of passages (historical, scientific, etc). With this new format, I've found that those aren't very helpful. Instead I'm drilling more paragraph-reading strategies (structure of paragraph, how to scan to find information quickly) and then coupling that with a focus on "read what you need", using the question to determine what you should read and getting info quickly.
It's been working well for me and our students so far. I'm actually kind of glad the format changed now.
First of all, thanks for the tremendous effort in making all these materials available. While going through some I came across some questions where I have a doubt about the correct answers. Eg. Grammar questions (Set 1): Question 2 and 4. Can you clarify, or if you already have a video explaining this, provide the link?
Well I did use that file in one of my live-streamed classes, if you go to the channel page I recently made a Digital SAT Prep playlist that includes the live streams from the last course. I think it's either the 2nd or 3rd class where I went through those exercises.
But in brief, S1-Q2 is D because you need to prevent any potential ambiguity created by them. Them could refer to other plural things, and the people (forefathers) hadn't been mentioned in a while. S1-Q4 is its because we're referring to the work, not the person.

Damn I wish I knew about this before doing my December SAT. I seriously think I would've scored better because I'm far more used to digital tests overall; I took a tremendous amount of time just going back to the text and changing pages in the paper based SAT.
I hear that. I advised a lot of people to take the December test though anyway, because you got more practice material and it's still not 100% clear how universities are going to treat the DSAT results while US students bring paper ones. Having one of each might help.

I really need some suggestions for understanding the context of the paragraphs while reading. English is not my first language because of that I am taking more time to understand the context of passage, it is slowing my speed, and I am giving the Digital sat for the First time this March, it is really like do or die situation for me. Can you please help me to improve understanding of the passages so that I can read fast. May be some articles to improve my reading, and are Magoosh all flashcards (around 450 words) sufficient for the vocabulary? But for reading speed, I think it comes down to two things. 1: Use that first line of the paragraph to understand the topic. Topic sentence tells you what the paragraph is about. 2: Identify the type of question and then figure out exactly what you need to read. Sometimes the context isn't important, sometimes you only need to focus on a few words, so don't make it harder than you have to.

Hey how would you say your math workbook compares in difficulty to the khan academy math practice questions? are there lots of "hard" qns or mostly "medium" and beginner friendly questions?
Well it's mostly organized by topic and so I think the "hard" stuff tends to be the more advanced trig questions, so it gets harder as it goes. But it really depends on what you know. I think we aim for the same rough distribution of easy/medium/hard as you'd see on the SAT and there are definitely some questions that are designed to be challenging in there.
I have been watching your videos, which are really helpful.Thanks for all the help.The learning materials in the drive are so relevant but I just want to know whether you have created those questions or got them from the four available tests. I have taken only the first one.
Everything in my materials is 100% unique and not at all taken from the practice tests. I wouldn't lie to you.
What I did was take the practice tests, categorize the questions, examine how the paragraphs and questions were phrased and structured for each kind of question, and then I created unique questions.

@@Ahadkareem01 I think that it might be useful to do a little bit of GRE stuff. GRE is higher level so it would definitely be stretching your brain out! But it's also important to get used to the timing of SAT questions, so if you do use material from another test, try to respect the same rough time limit of about a minute per question.

And I do recommend reading books a lot as part of your prep, it's good for you in general. Expands vocab, improves your punctuation/grammar knowledge, and helps you read paragraphs faster. Reading books is like cardio and practicing specific questions is like weightlifting. Both are good for your health but they do different things. Try to work on the questions you struggle with and fit reading time in too.

For digital SAT there really isn't anything that I can confidently recommend at the moment. In our materials we have huge math textbooks and workbooks you can use and when it comes to English, I think your best bet is to practice question types and read.
Good morning. Is there still the paper sat option for an international student
If you can travel to the US this year, you can take the paper test there. Also, there is an option for people with special accomodations, for instance if you have vision problems and need a large-print version. You have to show evidence of a condition though that requires special arrangements and you need to reserve the test earlier from what I understand.
Where did you get adaptive practice tests? I don't see any on the College Board site.

Math answers will be put up once we finish the group class in February! You can use Wolfram Alpha or ChatGPT to check your work in the meantime though!

All of the English materials have a button on them that reveals the answer. You need to download the files and open them in an app on your computer like Adobe Reader or Chrome
Hello, is there essay in the new digital sat?
Nope, the essay has basically been dead now for a couple of years. There are a couple of states that legally had it as a requirement so they've still been doing it on school days in those states, but with the Digital SAT it seems like that's going to die for good.

Yeah it doesn't work on Google Drive. You need to download the files manually and then open them in a program like Chrome or Adobe Reader
Is’t a good strategy to do half badly in the first section to get the easy second section? Or will think badly affect my score
From what I can tell, you get hurt more on the first half if you make mistakes. The 2nd module is essentially worth less points total. Do not intentionally sabotage yourself, that's a bad idea.
I am an international student and was preparing for the pen and paler SAT but College board decided to use us a guinea pigs and threw a curve ball at us aka the Digital SAT. My batch was the first to give the Digital SAT, without us having prior knowledge and practice of it. And you can say that I flunked my test horribly( I got only 1410 )
1410 is NOT flunking horribly! 1410 is an excellent SAT result and you should be pretty happy about that. Now that you know what you're up against, go do it one more time and I'm sure you'll get a higher score, but honestly you can send a 1410 just about everywhere.

Can I know where I can find the answers for the maths workbook
We're going to upload those once we're done with the course in February. My biz partner and math teacher Pili prefers not to give those out until we're finished to make sure people actually do the work in our class. But if you want to check your work, you can put the questions into Wolfram Alpha or even ChatGPT now and get the right answer.

We don't have all of those, we just resolve them in class and do them as homework so typically we cover them in the classes or privately with students who want to review later

Make sure you use a program that can work with interactive PDFs! You need to download the PDFs too. If you just open it in Google Drive, then it won't work. I use Adobe Acrobat Reader or Microsoft Edge, both work just fine. The answers are in there I promise!

No! The SAT Essay is dead so no need to worry about that. Some universities still mention that they accept it because if you took the SAT 2 years ago, you could have done the essay, but it's basically completely dead.

Hey first of all i have a huge respect for you. But I have a question. What is new with the scoring algorithm of sat. I mean we can't make more than 7 mistakes on module 1 on digital Sat to score 650 or 700.Is it true or not? I am literally confused in this context
Thanks for the respect, and I respect the question. So I actually published a video about this around the time the March results came out, it really seems that you get hurt more on questions when you miss them in the first module. They say all questions are equal but clearly missing 'easier' ones on the first module hurts more. From what I can tell, just one mistake can take 30 points off so I think your idea is accurate. If you miss 7 on the first module that's going to bring you down a lot, probably means you can't get over 650.

Right now US students are still using the classic pencil and paper SAT. All international students are taking the Digital SAT

That might be why! I honestly have not tested it on phones yet. They are interactive PDFs which work in Chrome/Edge as well, at least on my PC, maybe try opening it there?

I've read that if you download the "evince" app it should work. I will consider that suggestion though! I'm still finalizing the material so some things could change, which is why for the moment I'm going to leave them as is.

Yes! When you book a test it'll show up there in your Bluebook app.

The correct answer is C.

Yes so this is basically a case of punctuation with quotes. Because the quote would have finished with a period, but we still want to continue the sentence, then we change that period to a comma and put the quotes after it. B and D would be wrong because a quote cannot end without any punctuation at all. A could be correct if I was quoting just a single word.
For example: McCarthy's frequent accusations of "communism", a term that had completely lost its meaning, destroyed many people's political careers.

2. grammar questions
3. punctuation questions
with examples please, cause they're all sounding really similar
Great question William. They all look similar because you are filling in a blank with a a word or short phrase. And they use the same question "which choice best conforms to the conventions of Standard English."
What you have to pay attention to is what is changing in the answer choices.
Vocabulary questions have 4 answers that are different words, asking you to choose the correct word. Grammar questions give you 4 answers that use the same verb, but the conjugation of the verb is different or the tense is different. Grammar also plays with pronouns, so if you see those/that/them/it as answer choices, it's grammar.
For punctuation questions, the 4 answers have the same words, but the only thing that changes are the punctuation marks. In my Digital SAT Slides I put examples and more details about all these kinds of questions.

That's what I'm doing! I'm still working on more material as I do my class. It's a lot of work but my goal is to have at least 8 sheets for each type of question. I should have a full set of material ready by the end of February at the latest, and I'll be uploading more videos to help you too.
