Journalist Eddie Brock is trying to take down Carlton Drake, the notorious and brilliant founder of the Life Foundation. Riot like most symbiotes would have used up his host till he died and gotten a new one as thats how they normally live. Venom is actually a special case since he cares about his host and is intentionally not feeding on Eddie. This is why other symbiotes think of him as a loser.

I like how Eddie is smiling with vemom during the part where venom reveals Eddie. It, to me, shows two things, that venom is proud of what they are, and Eddie feeling empowerment (being able to give bad guys due punishment)

I Like how they gave venom personality instead of him being the generic rampaging alien that turns its host into a raging mindless freak.
This is very much like the Animated Version of Venom seen in the spiderman cartoons when he bonded to Flash Thompson and became a hero.
In the original comics, the symbiote wasn't even bad (until being worn by a villain) , but they had to retcon it to give Spider Man a reason to ditch the suit.

I loved this movie because of how different it was, the main character didn’t want to be there. He isn’t some super rich hyper genius or super powered soldier or extremely powerful wizard or anything, he’s just a guy that got roped into this mess and basically just went along with it and just so happened to get cool powers along the way.

Plus, Tom Hardy's Bane was anything but Bane (when it comes to the way he acts, psychologically he was closer than any other version of Bane, but physically, he looked nothing like Bane. He looked more like Hush but with a mask similat to the one worn by Reptile on Mortal Kombat).
