FILM DESCRIPTION:
Journalist Eddie Brock is trying to take down Carlton Drake, the notorious and brilliant founder of the Life Foundation. It only just occurred to me that Venom doesn’t call Eddie a loser to insult him, though it sounding like an insult works for comedic purposes. He calls Eddie a loser to prove that he’s indeed “inside his head”, so he picks a thought Eddie most likely mulls over most often. Eddie sees and thinks of himself as a loser, so that’s the thought Venom picks to prove he knows what’s inside Eddie’s head.

Venom also later comments to Eddie that back in his old world, he was also somewhat of a "loser" as well, which could also partially explain why he chose to mention that particular thought as something that he identifies with. Could partially explain why they are compatible.

It makes sense because Brock was a most than well respectable journalist, and losing everything, from one day to another, intensifies that "loser" thought

People say this line is bad writing. In my opinion, that's just the perfect transcription of extreme stress and shock .
Exactly! There’s also the detail that he looks like a wreck throughout the whole movie, which is nice- it’s common for actors to be made to look pristine even if their character has just survived an explosion or something (this applies especially to badly designed female protagonists).

I had a motorcycle accident in February, more precisely a high side, and after recovering myself from the ground and seeing my arm all bent backwards I was in shock when someone stopped to aid me and asked me if I was fine I said something along the lines of “I can see and smell clearly”
Now imagine you have all of your extremities bent all kinds of ways, a goo monster just made you eat someone’s head, and you regain control with all of your limbs fine like nothing happened. I think I’d say the same thing he did.

The thing is, though, it's literally a symbiotic relationship, so just as Venom changes Eddie, he is also changed *by* Eddie. That's why the voice was different in LTBC, IMO, to indicate that the symbiosis between the two has deepened.

The biggest thing they got right was making everything Venom did have serious impact. You can pretty much feel the impacts whenever he hits something or runs into something. It's just so perfect.
I'm just realizing how calm Eddie is through all this. Even as Venom's coming out for the first time his face is almost like "yeah this is normal".

This movie actually gets the symbiote down right surprisingly unlike most iterations. Venom actually looks like a slimy alien and not fabric.
I like how intimidating Venom is in the first movie. In the second movie he's more of a joke. I understand that he became more "human" by staying with Eddie but still.

@@tristanmireles8994 that was the symbiote race's primary purpose of life. To make it's host's life better. Until they became corrupted and fed off their hosts. Eventually, they were divided. One section of them(probably the majority), who are much likely evil and the other ones are neutral. Venom was neutral. That's why he was considered a loser. Riot wasn’t.

I think they kind of explained that in the movie. It’s been a while, so don’t quote me. Riot was able to do that because he’s a different kind of symbiote than Venom. I’m the trailers for the second movie, they seem to emphasize the color of Carnage a lot (although this could be thought of after the first). I’m going off of threads, but it seems that gray/silver symbiotes are armorers/generals and can form complex weapons (Venom told Eddie this towards the end of the movie), black symbiots are common foot soldiers and aren’t that powerful, and red symbiotes are extremely dangerous and are a loose cannon (again, going by the trailers). I’m probably reaching and overthinking this, but that’s the direction they seem to go towards, and if it is, I’m all for it.
Venom's Weaponry is only limited to a shield, because Venom mostly cares about perfect symbiosis, while other symbiotes care about strength and weaponry.

The Spiderman 2 version of Venom is kinda like Venom in the first 1/2 of this movie. The plan is for the symbiotes to use Earth as a food source, but then Venom has 2nd thoughts and likes living amongst the humans so wants the symbiotes to fail.
I guess without Eddie Brock steering Venom in the right direction, he goes back to being a homicidal alien again.

Enjoyed Tom Hardy's performance as Bane in The Dark Knight trilogy and seeing how he nailed the role of Venom in Venom (2018) just shows how great he is at playing villains and anti heroes.
The film on the other hand in my opinion while it wasn't the best in terms of quality it was compensated by the fact that it didn't take it self too seriously and instead the film was it's own thing with Tom Hardy's and Venom's chemistry being the best part about it with the end product coming across as decent and fun to watch.
Don’t forget the sequel let there be carnage
Re-watching this made me realize that venom's voice from carnage has changed.. this one is terrifying

The CGI in venom is absolutly stunning This movie is sooo underated I don't understand how Marvel went from this high level of CGI to Black widow, Thor and Dr. Strange multiverse
The buildup where Venom was finally being shown in his full form was epic on screen :) This film was actually not bad. Critics were too negative on the film and failed to see the fun aspect of it.

The tone was a bit confused I felt. They had a joke next to a dude getting eaten. Good film though.
