  • The Indian Navy has a new strategic perch in the Indian Ocean: the island of Agalega. The 25-sq km island is over 1000 km from the main island of Mauritius but it is Mauritian territory and India has built facilities there including a 3000-metre runaway and a jetty that stretches from the shore deep into the ocean, thereby enabling big ships to dock.
Agalega is a boost to the navy's strategic sea legs, giving it the ability to maintain and sustain prolonged surveillance of the western Indian Ocean. This covers the Horn of Africa where pirates are active, and also Djibouti where China's navy has a base.
From Agalega, the navy can operate a variety of platforms including the P8I maritime surveillance aircraft, drones, helicopters and of course surface ships.
The naval facilities are limited to the north and east of the island, and the needs of the small population of about 300 has also been taken care of: India has built six community projects including a library and a fisheries project.

Katua and786 shatrus have been harsh critics of the Mauritian government from the Mauritian anti-Hindu and anti-India media evenif they have been receiving for many many years before their indepebce help from India, when India at that time was not doing well financialy and this is the sate of K2A and786shatrus. The Mauritian media rant about India on Agalega BUT kept mute of USA/UK occupying another strategic island called Diego Garcia and another island by France.

      Why are you lying ?
We never kept quiet on Diego Garcia. We've been before the UN and all international tribunals and won our cases
Mauritius is a hindu majority country. Calling our media anti hindu is nonsensical
We care about our sovereignty just like you care about yours
India has been generous to Mauritius but we are already the most prosperous country of Africa and with vastly better living standards than in India
We are proud of our Indian origins but we don't approve of paternalism

You want to look smart BUT you are stupid brat. You cannot read between the lines of your three stream media. Make a search about how much India has been funding and assisting Mauritius and its mixed races and we kbow muzzy and k2a are anti Hindu and anti-India just like a few months ago, a Mandir was damaged by 786 when they wanted to provoke and attack Hindus over the Kashmir files and organized huge threatening rally a la Hamas terrorists.
India has been generous to Mauritius, you said BUT you lack the decency to say thank you to India.
You are not a proud of your Indian origin. You are just a non-Hindu using a pseudo when there is no paternalism being involved since India by its Vedic motto helps and support many other countries like be it in Africa or in South America just like it helped Turkey during its earthquake, even though Turkiye is pro-Pakistani.
You have already lost your Hinduness by de-alienating with India, since Hinduism hails from India. You are the liar, not me.
you are a confused person who do not understand geo-politics as well.
Do keep in mind for the future. Apply it. People like you is not welcome in India by the way. Without India's aid, you would have been in extreme poverty.
Mauritius is the most prosperous country in Africa you said; you are 30th position our of 51 African countries.

@@varoonnone7159you are comparing a small country with 1.3 million to india and saying that mauritius has better living standard is false. India is a massive country. 400 million people in india are living a better life than the 1.3 million in mauritius. Go and educate yourself. I am a mauritian myself "mo 1 mauricien moi" and don't lie.
Mauritius has been in a good position in africa economically because of Indians help since last 40 years. Do you even know that india has been providing maleria vaccination tablets and medical equipment to not just mauritius but whole africa since last 20 years? Haha you must be another jealous hater from opposition khatwa or abdool. Indians are CEOs of google microsoft youtube world Bank Starbucks, IBM ADOBE. they have aerospace company better than europeans even UK don't have an aerospace program. They want to copy india. India don't compete with african continent india Compete with the big boys like Europe and America and China. India is the second biggest producer of cereal and grains after ukrain but as ukrain can't feed the world due to the ongoing war,' the world has asked india to lift the ban on cereal and grains exportation. So at the momment india is the biggest cereal and grains exporter in the world in my view.
Indians have their own car manufacturing their own brand you imbecile. India produce fighter jets aircraft carrier mobile phone. APPLE and Google and Boeing are in india manufacturing their products they are not in africa. I can keep writing but there's no point to argue with imbecile like you.
😂 because of india mauritius is getting recognition be humble. Mauritius don't produce shit india does. India is the world pharmacy produce 70% of world generic medicine and vaccination. Without india Mali. Ethiopia Madagascar or Niger etc wouldn't have had free vaccination and medical treatment for maleria and HIV etc..
India own 60% of British property 😅😅😅
They ate the biggest investors in the uk after America. India is projected to become the 3rd biggest economy in just 4 years stop it if you can produce africa dont

India is not an imperial power; this base will be shared with the Mauritian authorities who will retain their sovereign rights on the island.

Mauritius is a bit like Pakistan a begging country. Without aid and support mostly from India. India has granted Mauritius so many line of credits unlike Western and African countries with negligible interest rate.
Thanks to Indian Imigrants for their sacrifices, Mauritius is what it is today. Most true Hindus consider Bharat as their country in terms of religion, cultural and art influence, execpt a few jati-bechoa like Varoonzero.
Mauritius whould have been in dire chaos without Indian support.
" India has traditionally been the ‘first responder’ for Mauritius in times of crisis, including during the recent Covid-19 and Wakashio oil-spill crises. On Mauritius’ request, India supplied 13 tonnes of medicines (including 0.5 million tablets of HCQ), 10 tonnes of Ayurvedic medicines and an Indian Rapid Response Medical Team to help combat Covid in April-May 2020.
In May 2016, India provided a grant of USD 353 million to Mauritius as a Special Economic Package for five priority projects: (i) Metro Express Project; (ii) Supreme Court Building; (iii) New ENT Hospital; (iv) Social Housing project; (v) Digital Tablets for school children.
India extended a USD 500 mn Line of Credit (LoC) in 2017 to Mauritius to finance social/infrastructure projects. In October 2021, an LoC of USD 190 mn and USD 10 mn grant was approved by India for Phase III of the Metro Project. In August 2022, another LoC worth USD 300mn and a grant of USD 25 mn was announced. A MoU on Community Development Projects was signed in January 2022 to undertake around 100 small, people-oriented projects in Mauritius.
Other completed India-assisted projects, include the Upadhyay Training Centre, the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, the Subramania Bharati Eye Centre, the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre, the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre and the World Hindi Secretariat.
The list is long indeed and many Mauritius applied for OCI card so as to be able to keep the Indianess.
Like this brat pauper, there is a guy in L'Express with a Hindu name but anti-India or the pro-Chinese guy with the name of Nagarjuna. Now, we know of a few more: Varoon-None🙂🙂

      varoonone: Definition of paternalism:
Paternalism is action that limits a person's or group's liberty or autonomy and is intended to promote their own good. Paternalism can also imply that the behavior is against or regardless of the will of a person, or also that the behavior expresses an attitude of superiority
Indian has never imposed anything other than helping Mauritius.
Your country was in dire state during the Covid-19 and Western countries did not come to your support. India did like always.
Understand more, How India is building and helping Agalega when your country has no capacity to do so and the people of Agalega has understood but even if you are not a Hindu which we believe you are not. A little knowledge could be very dangerous.

The imbecile which wrote the first original comment is clearly a hater of india majority of hindu in mauritius is pro india so review your comment about calling mauritius begger because its india who wanted the agalega island to counter China also mauritius has been supporting india in the UN to become a member of the security Council. Therr are pislamist opportunist and opposition and most of them are against india because the support modi government gave to the actual government of mauritius. China is ready to give mauritius 100 times what india gave mauritius on loans.
