Her performances in Koun and bhoot are incredile. Don't know where is she now.

The Introduction scene of Rangeela was so Iconic it actually Urmela's character back on track. A R Rehman beats, Asha Bhosle's voice and Urmela. I love the movie what happened to RGV now?.

Why to compare Rangeela with Luck by Chance? The main plot of both the movies is completely different.
I think Jacky Shroff is also in this movie. Isn't it @Anupama Chopra ! I got confused as you haven't said a word about him.
less than 4 min on rangeela, very less on urmila matondkar and rahman's music, no mention of jackie shroff. good mention of choreography and asha ji's voice. when i think about it, actresses like urmila, manisha, tabu were not celebrated enough and were always given less credit.
This film was culture changing.. It brought in the "MTV" generation. This was a game changer.
When Aamir wanted to sit on the chair of the 5 star hotel, he said “Ye to Piche jare lai “
The review had a whole section dedicated to describing how Amir performed but barely anything about Urmila, yet she was the lead and a key part of the film's success.

All I honestly remember about this movie is how Ms Matgonkar turned into a sex symbol overnight. And of course AR Rehman's songs ripped the charts. Yes, there was Amir Khan and Jackie Sheriff and the nature of their characters but the real game changer was the heroine. Yes, it was directed by this man RGV who had a far greater relevance yesterday than today.
Talking about Rangeela in under 4 mins!!! That requires lots of courage.

Here are few movies that have provided value to my life.
ON THE POTENTIAL OF HUMANITY
1) 2001 : A SPACE ODDESSY
The movie work as an act of exploration into what humans were, what humans can be and most importantly what humanity represents.
Its core theme is evolution.
Although, i would not recommend to those who are used to movies with generic three act structure story with one protagonist.
2)HER
Fundamentally the movie is romantic in nature but the romance is set in utopia and This utopia is BEAUTIFUL. The movie is about a man ,whose whole world has shattered and lonely due to his marriage issues, falls into love with an Artificial Intelligence, who is excited and ready to explore more about this world.
I won't say anything more than it. Its a movie that takes you on a emotional ride.
3) Arrival
After watching the movie, i felt like i have been taught. The experience was truly unique and unexpected.
Its a response to all those passable movies out there. Moreover, it serves as an act of exploration into what makes a movie great. Every theme once introduced has a payoff. Every point is clearly expressed.
Every scene is in control of the filmmaker
I recommend this movie to all.
CAUTIONARY TALES
1) CITIZEN KANE
The movie is about life of a man who becomes a newspaper tycoon, becomes the most influential man in America, then faces downfall, lose reputation, becomes lonely and then dies.
Don't think i have spoiled the whole movie because this is what exactly what shown in first 5 minutes through news footage.
The movie has many themes such as loss of childhood, what money does to a man, what money cannot buy, etc.
It is again not a linear story but the technical aspects of the movie is praiseworthy as per 1940.
It is one of my favourites.
2) AMERICAN PSYCHO
I am not going to say a single word for the story of this movie. IT JUST MUST BE EXPERIENCED.
It works as a cautionary tale for consumerism and capitalism that prevails in our society.
Nothing more should i say about it.
This is where i conclude my list. It would be delightful to know the movies that have provided value to your life.

I don't think so, you would have ripped it apart.
That's the point. Some movies which did work in the past, wouldn't have been that big a blockbuster had it released in the recent times. It's called growth. Even we, as an audience wouldn't have appreciated it. They're classics for a reason. Let them be. Not our place to judge them now.
Very nice.....However Lesser been said About Urmilas impact in the movie ....Also songs like Tanha Tanha and Hai Rama should have been mentioned.

I have seen this on b/w tv first. And felt this movie is different than others. Still I believe it. I have seen this movie more than 100 times. 3 time in theatres and I got video cassette and then cd and then dvd. Now it is unavailable online.

the movie is actually about munna..if any other director wd have made it it wd have been centered on munna.bt thats where verma's genius and love for urmilla comes in ...he presents her in such a way that till today if u think of the film then the first visual comes of milee......aamir has other classics to moot and be remembered for..lagaan,tzp,rang de,3 idiots,dil chahta hai.,sarfarosh...but this is for urmilla jist like sound of music ws for julie andrews

Rangeela Re was a song that every kid knew! Rahman became an instant hit all over India with this album.... And what about the iconic Fan/AC scene of Aamir? How could you not mention that this was Urmila's best movie which set her as mainstream actress and how did you miss mentioning Jackie ?

I mean rangeela is so overly hyped but i feel its the actors who make this movie not the script or story..some dialouges are good but urmila jackie amir reema lagoo uplifted this average movie with their performances!
