I have wished away so many hours of my life waiting for connecting trains at Severn Tunnel Junction. It's so bleak there and the beautiful old stone station was demolished to make way for charmless bus shelters. Still, great to see engineering like this!
@thatamerican550 .. Do you realize how utterly stupid that sounds? How could the initial "equally shoddy bridge" have exceeded it's life expectancy by 30 years? Rather than waste money, we build new bridges when older bridges are no longer functional for the purpose or situation, not based on some paperwork life expectancy. I suspect that's true everywhere.
