- At the annual Hendy Performance Day I took part in a slalom challenge with Tiff Needel, Paul Swift and Formula GB3 driver James Hedley. That doesn't sound too bad...apart from the fact we had to carry a full bucket of water ! What happened next was carnage !

Very entertaining and professionally done. That 2 gallon builders bucket was 9.5kg. A bit like the Jackie Stewart driving school where they have a ‘fruit bowl’ with a tennis ball in on the bonnet and you have to drive smoothly to keep it in. I have a video with Clarkson here racing a Porsche 911 against a fast motorcycle:
It has a better power-to -weight ratio, but the Porsche has 4 large tyres for grip in the corners.
It was a spare tyre on the bonnet with a plastic cover stretched over it and a tennis ball. Did it with JYS in the Yorkshire Post car park in the early 70,s. He beat everyone every time 😎

Tiff is a long time favourite driver of mine…I watched him set fire to the brakes on a 911 Turbo whilst giving Charity rides at Castle Coombe..
dressed in a Harris tweed jacket, slacks and stiff brogues…he laughed all the time but the passengers got out dazed and confused with a glazed look! I, glad you took Daisy…I’m looking forward to the reviews and especially to know what the ride quality is like…Hilary still says it is too big…but I found a fully loaded Commercial version X D300 and that could be useful…we never carry passengers and it answer the small boot question…could this be my secret van???
