HBO and George RR Martin wanted more seasons. If you want to blame someone, blame Benioff & Weiss.
They didn't rush it, they actually offered the showrunners two extra seasons which the showrunners declined because they wanted to do other projects by that point. They wanted to do a Star Wars project which is now dead in the water and Confederate another HBO project which is also dead due to the subject matter... so yeah it wasn't HBO who ended the series prematurely
As stated before, it was D&D that rushed it to move on to other projects. This was HBO's cash cow, they would have gone to 20 seasons if they could have.
The storyline is complete. And they have fixed 5 seasons for a specific story arc. Hopefully this is planned well. Let's hope.

fyi, Benioff and Weiss are who ruined the last 3 seasons of GOT. They are not involved with the project. RR Martin is very much involved HOTD, and that's what made GOT so great in the beginning.

I finished reading Fire and Blood last week. It’s an easy read more like a history lesson on the Targaryen family. I’m glad I read it because this trailer hit a lot of the main beats in the book and I know exactly who the key players are.

The Targaryen theme playing in the background is so amazing. Daenerys' themes from S1-S6 had an oriental feel to it, but this one feels very Westernized. Ramin Djawadi is such a blessing to the world.
Makes a lot of sense tho, since Dany was raised in eastern cultures while most of the Targs here all grew up in Westeros. Good composing.

That one moment when Young Rhaenyra is talking to Rhaenys. It took me back to the Very first episode of Game of Thrones. When Daenerys is looking towards the sea from the balcony in Pentos. There’s a Major Resemblance.
And their fates, both ended in tragedy: Daenerys betrayed by her own lover/kin and Rhaenyra eaten by a dragon 😭

fyi, Benioff and Weiss are who ruined the last 3 seasons of GOT. All the production crew and cast made very clear hints to that once B&W took over when RR Martin made his exit on the project due to the creative differences.
House of the Dragon is already written, with a complete lore and world. It would take a lot of effort to mess this up, and seeing that RR Martin is directly involved along with a very talented production team, it's just silly to think this show will be disappointing.

Yes, season 8 was rushed but I give House of the dragon the benefit of the doubt simply because Game of Thrones was part of my life for almost 10 years. Every episode was a happening, I read hundreds of theories, watched just as many reactions(we all watched the Burlington bar reaction, haven't we?), gushed over scenes like Hardhome, Blackwater, the battle of the bastards and many more, been to the live concert. This experience was something special and season 8 won't take that away from me.

So many key details are already being showcased, it's great. There looks to be the great council at Harrenhal, how someone tames a fully-grown dragon, the throne room looking almost unrecognisable under Viserys' opulent and non-confrontational style, Criston Cole slipping into brutality.
Got didnt exactly go light on the gore so I know they’ll be some pretty nasty scenes especially when blood and cheese show up

I think as well the fact that Ramin Djawadi is back is giving people the strength to tune into this. He was undeniably one of the absolute best elements of GOT from beginning to end and remained consistently brilliant the entire way through. Even when the show quality itself was absolutely ruthlessly kamikazed by D&D, Ramin held up his end of the deal. It's so good he's back.
Really looking forward to this series and it's characters. This prequel series in a new chapter in the GOT franchise and I will let it speak for itself. This trailer looks great.

I had always been sure that The Rings of Power would be much more popular than Hot D, but not better in terms of writing, costume design, providing complex characters and world-building. Amazon’s also planning to screen two episodes of RoP in theatres.

The Dance of Dragons is such an epic story and I'm damn confident HBO is not gonna let us down.
Read Fire and Blood people, it's really accessible and more than entertaining with all the unreliable narrators and conflicting testimonies games GRRM pulls during the book.
I'm planning on listening to the audio book before the show starts. I'm soooo excited its finally coming out.
I am really conflicted on reading it, since it's in a summary like format which makes me wonder whether I would enjoy an actual storytelling experience more like the TV Show.

This whole season will be a lead up to the Dance of the Dragons, I suspect. There's just too much material they can play with for them not to use it.

Which is said because Dan and David had assumed grrm would have written the last book before the show was overnight, but instead he did other projects and wrote other books. The six book was being written before got even started production. I do blame grrm for how the show turned out.
@@dinahgraham4964 David and Dan are still mostly to blame for the ending. They wanted to go work on Star Wars following season 6 and they could've hired another showrunner/extra writers to help bring the series to a more proper conclusion, but they refused the blank checks from HBO because their egos wanted GOT to be their show, and not just hand it off to someone else that would inevitably finish it. So while GRRM has become a notorious procrastinator with the books, D&D should've had the decency to leave a show that they clearly lost passion for and wanted to end as soon as possible.
@@josephwantock1993 whose to say grrm would want anybody else to do it. In order to even get the show in the first place they had to answer the question of who Jon's mother was. Honestly wanting to know why everybody is upset at the ending. Grrm said it would be bitter sweet, plus it's based off of the war of the roses. Which is interesting cause the ending of that is more like the end of house of dragons then GOT.

I remember watching the red wedding for the very first time... It literally felt as if I was witnessing friends and family getting killed... I stood up from my seat and got my hands up to my head... I was so in disbelief on what was just happening.... No other show has made me feel that way again
I agree @Oscar. When Ned lost his head, I was like "well damn, anyone can go". But the red wedding transformed what a show can do to you. It really proved anyone was fair game in GoT. But also it promised to tell a story from everyone's view... Not just a main character. I haven't had another show do it so naturally. Other shows that do it seem like they are doing it for effect.. Not because it's a part of the storyline.

Caraxes the Bloodwyrm, Prince Daemon's fearsome mount! The dragon flying toward the Red Keep early in the trailer was Syrax with Rhaenyra on top. IDK if the dragon at the very end is Caraxes though. Caraxes and Meleys are supposed to be huge dragons, even bigger than Drogon in S8 as they have been alive for decades.

What? Have you read this story? There's not enough content to make a series to stretch that long. The actual war itself never lasted for three or four years to make a 15 year long season.

The Targaryen are without a slightest doubt, the most complex and interesting house of the entire Game of Thrones Universe. One could say: "Meh, is only because of dragons". Not, it's not. Dragons and the fire of course amazing to see, and a delight. But it's far more, they are brave, powerful, extremely loyal, but also, complex rulers with lots of good and bad, and we can never know their next step, which makes things entertaining in all levels. I was already very excited after the first images, and now after this trailer, I'm beyond that. Bring it on HBO!!! Season 8 can't not be redeemed, but this show has potential to at least makes us forget that bad taste in the mouth and make justice to the Targaryen legacy! Bring the fire!🔥
