perfect explanation of a good tragic story. when you know how bad it ends, but still can't stop yourself from watching/reading even if maybe you want to stop these characters but unable to do this

Sadly, none of them did. The iron throne was hold by a hundred of years by Queen Rhaenyra heirs. Prince Aegon and Queen Alicent line desapeared. If this war hasn't happened the Targaryens would still had dragons and keep the throne. They became unworthy after fighting kin against kin.

the fact that it takes Vhagar 5-6 seconds to FLY overhead is insane. really shows her size compared to other dragons we've seen

As someone who read Fire & Blood about 5 years before the show came out I was very impressed with season 1. Basically all the characters seemed true to the text with many added nuances. Knowing what happens in season 2 I expect it to be incredible. The battles and events that take place will make for excellent drama
I wish they would have kept Aemond's unhinged character. To make Lucerys' death look like an accident instead of deliberate was a bit disappointing.

If i'm not asking for much,do you think that later on they will explore more further into the world like the Yi-Ti lore,The Tousand islands,Ashai,Sothoryos, i know grrm is getting old and is prob not writing about those places in books as is time cosuming,but adapting the lore to the vison of grrm's could be a great continuaion further after the targaryen shows are done.(or maybe dive more deep into the thousand years old family stark history would be amazing to seeing Bran The Builer overseeing the construction of the Wall would be amzing)

First season did not disappoint. The music, characters, everything was perfect. Let's hope it will continue like that
Season 1 was just the appetizer! It will only get better. Thankfully there is no Dan or Dave to ruin this series like they did with GOT

@@rbasi25 Dan and Dave helped make GoT special and unique though, as well as helped ruin it completely in the end. That's part of the paradox; that they both created a lot of the magic and completely destroyed that same magic later. For an example of what's missing without them you only have to look at this show. Compare it to GoT and it's dry as plywood.
You read GRR Martin's words on the page and they're interesting and very readable, but those two showrunners definitely added something. They had such a good grasp of which storylines to prioritise, which characters to focus on, how to frame big moments, how to make things feel epic and mysterious in a way that they didn't always on the page.
GoT was a one-off; and they might have tanked the whole thing with that abomination of a final season, but they were also part of the alchemy that made it so special for so long.
Did not disappoint? Season 1 was amazing
I love the books and the shows. GOT was good, but to short and cut down. Same with HotD Way to short..... They need 15 episode seasons and 15 seasons to make it justice.

They replaced the costume designer from last season so that's definitely why the costumes are looking better this season so far
The quote from Rhaenys is chilling. Its true kinslaying is a great taboo in Westeros. Worse even than breaking guest right or incest. There is a literal quote from Fire and Blood that reads "There is no man as accursed as the kinslayer".
And for this reason I am glad Jon Snow will live accursed for all eternity in show canon.
But like all taboos in Westeros, outrage at such things are just pretexts for political maneuverings or gossip fodder for solders and peasants.

Whilst it also rewards and satifys the fans that read the book and see it come to life. A good example of this is the new Hunger games movies only small changes happened.

Wow, they showed a lot more than I was expecting. Everything - from the costumes to the cinematography, to the music and the CGI - looks like a massive improvement over Season 1. Easily my most anticipated show next year. Summer 2024 can't come soon enough.

I hope we get to see Baela and Rhaenyra in battle armor. Rhaenys already have armor and looked badass in the first season. It seems that they also changed out Daemon’s 3D-printed armor to a realer looking armor.
It looks like rhaeynera will be doing more for the war which is great so will daemon like actually fighting in battles.

I’m so surprised how put together this trailer is considering they’re still in the early stages of VFX and CGI. But my god have they stepped up their game!! I can tell the actors are putting everything into this. This season will truly be heartbreaking. Rhaenys words are haunting considering what’ll happen. My heart weeps for Helaena 😢 Rhaenyra is looking so regal as always and JEEZ! I knew Vhagar was huge but that puts it into perspective. Okay now time to rewatch it a billion more times 😍
I agree, I am dreading seeing the Helena action this series, she is such a sweet heart that's done nobody any harm. I love Rhaenys as well, if only more hadn't listened to her in the first place. I suppose I will have to do a rerun of the first one now.

CGI professional here with VFX background. CGI for this trailer wouldn't take quite as long since most of the dragons are the same from season 1, and none of the dragons had close-up shots, which require a different model with more precise detailing. And when the same CGI model can be used for different shots, VFX is done individually for each shot. So it's possible that most of the scenes VFX are not done yet, only the ones used in the trailer were top priority. It's also possible that they will switch it up and these same shots will have subtle visual differences in the show.

Im currently rewatching GoT and there is a scene where sir Davos is learning how to read and he read a line that said “Viserys rode Vhagar, the smallest dragon of her time but was big enough to swallow a horse whole” WTF‼️ If Vhagar is the biggest dragon we know, as she’s PRETTY damn big imagine the size of the of the dragons who hatched her or the ones she fought
Different Vhagar I think. This is still like 100 year before Daenerys is born so I think that Viserys is Renyra (sorry about spelling) and Deamon's son. So the small dragon is probably still in an egg on dragonstone at this point. It's annoying how the Targaryen's keep reusing names 😅
@@Redfalcon101 There was only one Vhagar, and Viserys II (son of Rhaenyra and Daemon) never rode a dragon, his egg didn't hatch. Vhagar was said to be indeed the smallest out of Balerion and Meraxes, however her size in HOTD is comparable to Balerion's size at his prime.
I think he said "Visenya rode Vhagar". Visenya was one of the conquerors (Aegon I's sister-wives), she was Vhagar's first rider. Vhagar was younger then, I think she's around 200 yo during HOTD.

This show started with s1 having the budget of GoT s8. S1 of GoT had 10x less budget than s8. It only gets better from here!

Vhagar rising into the air in the brief scene could be before Baela's scream scene as the scene where Vhagar rises is right after she ended Meleys and Rhaenys, and very nearly Sunfyre and Aegon II as well and as soon as Baela saw Vhagar rise into the air she already knew the result of the battle and scream especially when she sees Meleys remains below

the thing is sunfyre was placed in the open alone as a bait so could meleys attack him and be busy in fighting sunfyre as vahgar attack from above taking down meleys, this plan was set to kill meleys because she's faster than vahgar so they had to keep her busy so vahgar can take the time to attack and during that sunfyre had to be the bait and fight meleys alone and that's why he got severely injured with his rider.

What I like about this series is that we know already the entire story but not the entire picture of it. GRRM and HOTD really gave us an interesting masterpiece.
They can still throw in curveballs such as Baela turning up at the end of Rooks rest to see Meleys and Rhaenys ripped apart. Then she captures a glimpse of Vhagar which makes her flee. Setting up her attacking Aegon later.
The scene with Rhaenyra at Storms end is new, it’ll be interesting to see if she find Arrax’s and Luke’s remains.
Plus is that Rhaenyra meeting with Laenor or Addam or Helaena and Alicent?
I know some people get annoyed by changes but if I want fire and blood I know where that is. This is a tv adaptation so I don’t blame them for going with a more entertaining option. As long as the writing and acting stays consistently good then I’ll have no complaints.

in-universe, it's said a dragon grows more during times of war (as a survival mechanism and what not). Probably more so when it's a war against other dragons

It's been such a long time since I accepted to be patient for a show that truly takes its time, not pumping out series after series. It's so nice to know they're not rushing production and instead taking time to craft a spectacle worthy of the franchise and the channel. Take all the time you need between series, I don't mind. Time time time time time.

If you've read the story, you know this is going to be absolutely insane.
Considering it only covers about 9 chapters of that book (8 episodes this season), thwart your "massive battle" expectations. Also, thwart your "child death" expectations because they arnt going to show you what you think youre going to see. It will be more Stannis, less Vamon.
@spoons250 They can still make it absolutely horrific/gut-wrenching without literally showing a child being decapitated. Also, why should we not expect Rook's Rest and the Gullet battles to be spectacular?

The amount of loss that comes from the pursuit of power. Is the cost really worth what is gained? Neither side truly wins but loses everything. Excellent writing by George.
@kandiekane. it was more of a philosophical question. I know what happens. I've read fire and blood a couple of times now. George is great at diving into the idea of things having a price attached to them, one that you might not realize or see, and in the end, leaves you questioning was it worth it. You see this with a lot of his characters that either pursue power or have power thrust upon them, especially during times of conflict.

The thing is it just doesn't matter who won and who lost after your death. Cuz you are not in the existence of celebrating that victory. In fact , you wouldn't ever get to know that , that which side is won. Cuz you r dead now. And also as a main claimant you wouldn't get the luxury of being sit on the throne after the victory (same goes for aegon). So nobody won or loose it's just the sheer loss of both sides. Period.
Going by the books, it's slightly more complicated than that.
Yes, Rhaenyra's sons rule after her but they do so "officially" as the heirs of Aegon the 2nd.
Aegon is remembered as the legitimate king after the war and Rhaenyra as a usurper, so neither side 100% won I suppose.@@kandiekane.

I think it’ll be even better. There’s no reason why the writing quality will drop. The actors seem to be doing amazing and there will be a tone of action coming up. The only criticism I saw for season 1 was people complaining that it’s too slow and the time jumps are confusing. This season won’t have any time skips and 20X more action/battle scenes. Hopefully they strike the perfect balance

I cannot accurately describe just how hyped I am for this. I loved the first season, which motivated me to read Fire & Blood and I loved that even more.
Same! When I saw the first seasons trailer I had to read the book before seeing the show. A lot of interesting events in the book that won’t be covered during the current timeline. I would love to see what GRRM would reveal as the place where Drogon took the twin Princess Aerea Targaryen. That part was horrific! But I loved it
