Lmao. I would’ve paid to see this unveiling live if Andy did do it. Priceless.
It would have been a great video that's for sure
Team Marine TV checking in!
Hello!!
Never mind I just had to go watch the unveiling video man that thing looks like junk and the guy speaking is totally full of bulls%$#!
@@garywooten8612 And to think I could have been in the crowd Booing! 🤣
This is frickin' gold! I couldn't agree more, how could they not just rebuild the Evinrude brand and take control of the outboard market place.
Because that's not easy
They shafted their whole distribution network in an ass-hat way.
Thank God they didn't call it an evinrude. I cannot believe this is what they decided to put their money on instead of the g2. They should have just taken all the marketing money and development from this and put it into good parts on the G2 along with refining it. They could have taken a 2 year break and got the G2 right maybe even consult mercury for some help. So disappointed.
Actually I think the last year of the G2 was pretty much figured out, it even had some performance upgrades that nobody knew about, or was even talked about. Such a great motor that never had a chance to prove itself. Very disappointed to see it go. This new Rotax is the 3 cylinder G2 which was a fantastic small motor but adding the extra 90 degree turn will likely pull to much power from it. I’m looking forward to the 6 cylinder version of this. I think this new design will be fantastic on pontoon boats, but can’t see the benefits over a G2 on a fishing boat yet👍🏻
@@JR-ho5qm Yeah. The G2 and even the G1 (I have an amazing 115 on my 18') had at least 5 years left..
That g2 is the best looking outboard I’ve seen. Love the looks especially in white but I’m a Yamaha guy.
@@TrippyWheelz totally agree man. Imo it's the nicest looking outboard ever produced. They make any boat they are on look aggressive. Wish they worked harder to fix the few issues on the big ones
The Expert knows what he's talking about! I love these Team Marine Service video's. If I lived near his shop, he'd be the only one working on my outboards. The industry needs more folks like him.
They need to bring back Evinrude with a 105 or 110 degree prop shaft !! That will allow more stern lift without wedges or a canted transom, and as the motor is trimmed out the prop moves back through the arc to give the effect of set-back. Go with a inline six four stroke and it will have a natural balance and smoothness. hang a blower on the side and go like stink. Thanks Andy for all you do. Jim
All I want is a gear case with multiple gears. That way we can possibly be more efficient and maybe even a little faster.
The merc 600 has it. I feel like it will trickle down eventually.
You and team marine gotta do a video together
@@chrisrogers3175 OMG yessssss!!!!!
honestly supprized outboards don't have cvt's
That would definitely give us better GPH for long runs.
What i saw was the weight of the powerhead farther from the transom adding extra stress and weight, while bouncing in the water and trailering
Andy droppin all them bleeped out F bombs haha reminded me of that Happy Gilmore scene where he goes off on national tv cussing out the ball because it wouldn’t go in the hole 😂
Haha for sure!
"Ole is crawling out of his grave" build us a kick ass Evinrude! Please.
Should my 4 stroke 2003 225 saltwater series discharge be cloudy while running a hose?
It probably stays "dry" like the G2. "Don't have to service it for 5 years so the covers stay sealed longer"
My newest 'best' video you've shared with us. Time to watch the pt 2
I am a Johnson man,I have still got the old 1968 three strokes runs good pushes my old 1974 durocaft 16 foot boat. Have a good one love what y’all were talking about see ya next time see ya bye.
Please bring back the Etec or G2 , whatever, I have an Etec 225 on my 21 foot bass boat, run nothing but 100% eth free fuel , usually 89 octane, she starts , runs quick , great hole shot , purrs like a happy kitty……EVERYTIME !! Evinrude, part of the industry, Just my opinion, love it 👍🏽
I'm damn glad that my Evinrude is an old looper!
Wow, I have an old 1976 75 hp Johnson that never misses a beat, it just keeps on going & going
When you say the etecs popped, anything you recommend maintenance wise or nothing can be done? Only have a 60 on a tin bass boat, but just checking
Biggest thing with them is to make sure you are running good fuel, don't let them sit forever without use and don't overheat them
Hell yea brother 💯 💪 I'm right there with ya !! 25 years in the shop and I talk and ack alot like u do great to see other people's opinions match mine !!!
This is the future of engines for deck boats. I have a Hurricane with a Yamaha 200, would love the stern space where the engine cowling is. Sounds like he is coming at it from a fishing boat perspective. If it makes it to gen 3 it should be solid.
Better angle of the new set 👍 nice work. I'm looking forward to videos of you roasting these failures this underboard will have.
In my opinion, the new Aluma boats with Rotax are just perfect textbook examples where wheel has been tried to be reinvented... Nice videos though! Watching you from Finland. Could you someday do a comparison/Top 10 video of the 50-horse class? It's really popular here in northern Europe. Thanks and cheers 😎
Screwed em up when you said you’d be honest 😂
When he said "Stealth technology" coffee shot out both my mouth and nose.
The people involved that designed this atrocity have obviously NEVER had to diagnose and fix a problem out in the proverbial "field".
This feels like a novelty product. Yeah it's a never before seen design but that's about it.
This "UnderBoard" will only be purchased by people of means. Someone who never gets his hands dirty. Someone that replaces something immediately rather than fixing it.
Reminds me of the Chrysler/Dodge Prowler or the Chevy SSR... Novelty
I want my outboard loud and menacing! NOT QUITE! 😖 those big 70, 80, and 90s V6 Evinrude and Johnson’s were so cool looking! They sound great too!
Maybe i'm getting old! lol
I want my bassboat quit and fast but motorcycle loud
What about the early 80's Black Max's? I was OMC growing up but those 150, 200, 225 Black Max's gave me wood, still do.
Agreed
I miss those old straight 6 engines mercury used to manufacture.
Our G2 250 is currently out for ignition coil failure on cyl 5. Season OVER. Power steering about to fail for the second time. Doesn’t make me want to get involved with BRP.
How well is this thing going to get air and if the water gets in how does it drain out of the air box
Homer Simpson Car...
I thought people would be happy to see a 2 stroke back on the market
I was a diehard Evinrude fan for 30yrs. I loved them because Ole Evinrude was the original engine builder for Harley Davidson in 1903. He left H-D after a couple years to build Outboard boat motors. I was so excited when BRP bought the Evinrude name because I knew they have the money and engineering to build and design a great outboard, but just dropped the Evinrude name. I switched to Yamaha. I love my new Yamaha F70. But I was excited to hear BRP was bringing back a outboard. I naturally figured they would name it Evinrude because they own a 100 plus year old name that everyone knows. This Rotax is a bad idea.
Plus Rotax dropped the 582 Aircraft engine $8,000 dollars, they dropped all 2 stroke aircraft engines. That killed the light sport aircraft engine market. They had the market cornered. Now you have to buy their 912 4 stroke that’s over $20k today. So the days of building a cheap light sport aircraft are gone. And nothing took off like a 582 2 stroke. They was great for short takeoffs in the back country.
Would that not be because of govt regulation? Aka epa.
It's no surprise they kicked you out Andy! This is a damn embarrassment of an outboard. I heard it was a 2 stroke too! BRP just hasn't learned their lesson. #fail
They haven't learn that people don't want 2 strokes anymore. It's kinda sad but reality is reality! Come on BRP
@@TeamMarineServiceunder 30hp I'll take a 4t. I'll take a 2t 30-75hp over a 4t in that range. because boats under 17 are weight sensative. And old alum boats do not sit right with all the weight hanging off the back. Anything thst needs Over 75hp back to a 4 stroke .
If im racing....two stroke all day.
Hey don’t diss the two stroke. 2✊🏻all day!!!
@@TeamMarineService Australia and Europe no more 2 strokes for sale , because of emisions .
@@alphacapo Merc 300X over a Merc 300R?
My initial understanding when Project Ghost was first discussed, was that it would be a hybridization of the Rotax jet with the G2 powerhead. That might well make some sense; this design begs further explanation.
That semi-submersible under-board is going to be a boon with the narc submarines trying to reach the Sea of Cortés with their bounty!
🤣🤣🤣
My main concern with this engine would be servicing it especially after saltwater use and also water intrusion into the motor because of improperly sealed cowlings
It probably will not be warrantied for saltwater. Its the next volvo stern.
WOW, Product of our school system? Where did he learn to talk?
I learnt from my Hikes Skool!
How would the intake stay above the water line in wavy conditions? Lol... Also how is it more efficient when the powerhead (brick design) is being pushed through the water?
I am curious as to why they think this is a 'better' product than the other outboards on the market.
I like the evinrude brand I always thought that they were well made and thought out what the thinking of a underboard ?
Thought and imagine? These are words that shouldn't be talked when conversing about rotax!
I have on good faith been given to believe by a friend in Fon Du Lac, that Quick Silver(u know who)is about to drop a surprise with a race engine of similar design(not submerged) of Merc Magic. As a Merc'r. I can't wait.
Wow! Email us at speedmoneynobrakes@gmail.com to keep this conversation going. Would love to chat more
Hey Andy,Thanks for moving over so I could read the orang sign.. mike in Az.
👍🏻😉👍🏻
OMG............I lived through selling and servicing all the VRO problems, then FICHT, then going belly up once, then BRP FICHT (kinda), then G2, then Evinrude goes away again.........Now this. I did not think it could get worse..........BUT IT JUST DID. If ya remember, FORCE tired to so something similar....that was a resounding success wasn't it?. I have one saving grace. After 20+ years I retired, sold the dealership, and now all I have to worry about is servicing my own boat. Please, oh please, will you make a video of the first time someone rolls into your shop with one of these and a problem. It would be the highlight of my life in the marine world.
We guarantee that the cameras will be on when we get one in our shop! You can count on that!!!!
L-drive. Worst of all worlds!
Im about a year late to this but I've been watching your videos for a few years now. I've always really appreciated how you guys are very candid and upfront about whatever topic it is you're talking about. I'll admit there is also a layer of comedy between it all because of how fired up Andy gets when talking about shit going off on a tangent but still keeping things relevant to the topic and I have to say that I'm totally here for it.
Thanks!
Appreciate you!!!! Thanks
When my son became a engineer I told him over and over again. DO NO WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO REINVENT THE WHEEL! I hate Evinrude used their customer's to find out their product issues !
I'll pass and stick with Yamaha or Suzuki lol.
Us too Cody!
Yam/zuk ALL DAY
No they are Japanese.
Stick to Mercury. They are American made.
@@conmanumber1 I am always about supporting American made, but when it comes to these motors I want reliability. If the American made products are crap and not holding up, why would I waste my money on something I can't rely on whether it's American made or not. It's sad to see stuff that is American made go down hill and I will stick with Yamaha or Suzuki until Mercury can pull their heads out of their you know what.
Best decision you can make
This off this subject. Im looking for the piston ring compressor tool for the inline 6 cylinder mercury engines. Anyone know where i can purchase these other than ebay?
One off of Ebay will work, just get one close to the Merc's bore size
@@TeamMarineService im not sure if we on the same page. Its for the older inline engines. Like the tower of power. They reach around the crank assy to the piston rings. There are 2 styles of ring compessors. Small and the large. I want the large. And dont want to go thru ebay
I think the next big thing is diesel outboard motor but same price as the two strokes
Mercury makes a 150 hp diesel outboard
I am in the process of ordering a 2023 alumacraft. Thank fuc k I am going with a Suzuki.
Can't wait till the 250 version comes out!! lol
Do you remember when Homer Simpson designed that car? Yeah this is kinda like that.
Rumor has you get a free Bring Back The Edsel Tee Shirt with it!
Great show Andy! Love the #50 K CHALLENGE T SHIRT!! You already know that I’m in for $20. Will cover it when I stop in!!🇺🇸🇺🇸👍😊

Would you guys consider doing an over, & Under series on fiberglass bass boats in the18 ft. Range with 150's?
I've been looking at boats in this class, & talking to local dealers (I live in south east Louisiana). The best deals I'm finding are on the Skeeter ZX150. I'm trying to find the best deals on fiberglass bass boats which is why I'm looking at smaller boats. The only thing that I have to have is a tandem axle trailer. I plan on being on the interstate a lot and don't feal comfortable with a single axle.
We will get around to doing the smaller rigs soon
The tandem axle is a great idea. I do the same.
Maybe the half submerged was an design to fix the over heating issue on the etec.
And you wonder why they didn’t go with you to promote it lol
Love the honesty
I’ll stick with my Yamaha
Reminds me vaguely of the Force L-Drive
I mean they built the Learjet.. how they fumbled the ball with evinrude I have no idea ..
Oh they make some good products but some of them are real head scratchers
The engine is designed around a very scientific mathematical calculation based on swept volume of the piston and in inefficiency of the IC Eng.
30 year marine tech business owner and Evinrude devotee since childhood. Down here in Florida outboards are king due to shallow water and rocks. I've been anxiously awaiting the reveal of the much lauded not so secret Evinrude Ghost outboard release. MAN, AM I DISSAPOINTED. WHAT AN ABORTION.
as someone who works with BRP products. this looks like it's gonna be hell to maintain just like evinrude e-tecs and sea-doo's
czcams.com/video/zmVPRMhLjtc/video.html
They tried being sneaky with the all new ghost motor
I have no interest in these, but Andy's reaction makes me want to buy 3 or 4 of them and bring them into Team Marine for service. If I video the service trip, it might be worth money as a viral video.
Don if you buy one and bring it to the shop I'll pay Jordan to shoot, edit and produce the video on it and give all of the CZcams Ad revenue that the video generated for 10 years to you!
@@TeamMarineService Hmm, I think I'll keep my 90 SHO for now. I wonder if that piece of **** comes in a tiller that would fit my warrior.
You’re broke, stop talkin!
@@TeamMarineService will you give me that same deal???
I started at the age of 3 with an Elto on out Lyman. I have had no less than 20 Evinrudes and Johnson’s over the last 50 years. and still
I grew up on a lake back in the 1970s Myself and all of my friends dreamed of owning a sleek low profile boat, preferably a tunnel hull, with an inline 6 cylinder tower of power standing tall dark and handsome on the transom. For those of us who still like the somewhat striking appearance of those old Mercs these Rotax engines come up a little short.
Let's see now - the powerhead practically sits underwater and there's two 90 degree turns in the drive works. What could possibly be wrong with that? And it will only be available on the boat brands they sell. That sounds like a GREAT marketing plan to capture a bigger share of the market. What a real POS - can't believe they gave up on Evinrude in favor of this thing. The folks who dreamed up this thing should be forced to come out to work on them when they crap out.
They had rotax engines years ago. There is a video in Evinrude history . Way ahead of the others
Great video. Thanks for the review. I would love a great new evinrude. Maybe Tesla should make a 250???

How does it intake air?!
"what's wrong with an ... outboard? why does that not work?" If you applied the same logic to props, no one would ever invent a Sharrow design. BRP has always been an innovative company.
There are 2 glaring problems with the design that anybody who's been around boats knows are big No No's and for BRP's 22 year old window licking engineers to not be able to figure it out is truly sad. 1. Water will ALWAYS win and get past those 16 bolts and seal flooding the engine compartment. 2. Boat batteries ALWAYS die, the Rotax Underboard uses a water evacuation pump to keep the water out from flooding the engine compartment. Now you hopefully understand how dumb this it! ;)

Thankful for a great honest review! I had to switch to Yamaha outboards and I've never been happier since.
👍🏻👍🏻
They shafted their entire dealer network in a very cold way, oh-customers too, so now they can only put it on their own boats. Ever seen an outboard cowel with a crack or a chip? Ever seen a swim platform with a crack or a chip? One little bump and this thing is an insurance claim for a sunk outboard. Condensation will kill this in short time. I’m selling my boat with an Evinrude next spring as sadly I want to offload it before an injector goes now I have bought one with twin Hondas because I can buy parts for it for the next 10-20 years.
From my personal experience, the outboards I've submerged under water, never ran reliably again.
Jack plate and you are good, trim doesn’t do much for drivability function
What a joke! I'm almost glad BRP didn't force this on Evinrude. Rotax Outboards is dead before it even begins. Garbage!!!
We are glad too! Keep this crap over at Rotax and let them be responsible for it. It'll ultimately have crank bearing problems like all of their other 2 stroke engines! Haha
How could you know haven’t even been out yet
a diesel outboard would be better than a rotary lmao. I don't get why people want hp when a boat needs torque because the water is constant drag resistance

“Let’s put the center of gravity even further back”
I find this technically interesting, especially since it appears to use the powerhead developed for the last generation 150 Evinrude, but I am a motorhead. How are the 150 G2's holding up?
I too am not certain that putting the motor so low is a great idea. Nevertheless, it might be a blessing in disguise that the new engine is under the Rotax name. Unlike Evinrude, BRP is not likely to shut down Rotax since it supplies engines for numerous applications.
The 115,140 and 150 3 cylinder are actually good. I've had multiple mechanics tell me that. They finally got some shit right with it and then pulled the plug
@@EmergeFromTheAshes1 The engine in this Ghost abortion of an outboard is supposed to be the same as was in the 115, 140 and 150 3 cylinder G2s.
What does Victory motorcycle have to do with anything? They are owned by Polaris not BRP.
@@sdvten ya they should have just stuck with the g2 and fixed the issues on the bigger ones. Near the end they actually started to have it figured out. 2018s and up didn't have the steering issues. They replaced a bunch of parts and ignition. Changed the ecu mapping which before was responsible for the ones that blew up. The 115,140, and 150 were a massive upgrade again but it wad to late I guess in brps eyes
@@adamportner8102 oops. I got the parent companies mixed up.
Your honesty and rant on BRP was hilarious and true. What a terrible idea for an outboard. It was probably designed by the EPA. Wait until they come out with outboards with exhaust fluid tanks like DEF systems on today’s diesel trucks. They already ruined the trucking industry, the boating industry will be next. BRP probably got a kickback from the government to build that garbage. Thanks for video I agree 💯 🇺🇸
If they were going to do an engine shaped like that it should be an opposed piston engine so they could get real efficiency and reliablity gains... this engine is just a stopgap IMO yet again.
What about the yamaha underwater motor? Have you done a test on it yet? You seem to love the yamss.
They are obviously thinking they have/had no chance against the big 4 outboard makers to steal any significant market share by bringing out a conventional engine design. If your thing is "just as good" as the other guys but not cheaper or better or SOMETHING, people just by the old standby other guy.
They are obviously rolling the dice by trying something radical. I agree about cracking that cowling seal, water intrusion seems guaranteed.
💯 agree with everything you said. What a joke!! They kill a historical loved brand and killer motors that needed refined and they would have been good. Then they bring out this ridiculous turd?
I think Tom Monsoor should do the impact testing for BRP.
Haha Yes!!!!!

Big Al running BRP too. Sorry, couldn't resist that one.
Rotex engines are very reliable and horse power up to over 300 Hp in the future running two 150 could be in second generation could be a true winning
