There is no one more brilliant, working today. If you ever have the chance to see her in person, do it. You will tell people one day you did.
I think she's as brilliant a comic as has ever taken the mike. Not just because of those astonishing voices she can do, but her picking up on every fad and fatuity that passes before her eyes, and a fundamental decency under it all that might subvert another comic's sensibility but only seems to enrich her comedy.
exactly! for me its not the voices she can do its her insights and just her personality, i just found out about her and she's now my favorite comic. what she does feels honest in a way i have never seen in comedy... and I like watching comedy, a lot hahaha
andrewsward46 you are so right about the decency part. I've met her in person. And she is an incredibly decent human being.
A true original. Her comedy upon repeated listens actually reveals more gems that you missed out on the first time. Also, biting the bullet by describing her experience with bipolar II saves lives, like mine.
Lucky you! I chickened out on meeting her after the show because of the psycho factor - even though I'm a woman her age and completely non-threatening, or so I'd like to believe. (This is where I would insert a smiley emoticon but I think you're intelligent enough to not need it.)
Layered comedy like that is so rare. It's the stuff that makes material timeless, and Maria is a master of it. :)
She’s a genius
I saw her first on Arrested Development...she is a blessing
love Maria's work. Maybe not everyone gets her, but if you do, you're hooked. I just finished binge watching lady dynamite and it wasn't until about episode 7 when I heard "Corn!" at the end of the intro.....I can't explain it, but I absolutely lost it.
I love "Corn!" I bust it out to myself from time to time.
I know! It's so out of place & that's what's so funny about it. I've started using it to replace the F word in the presence of children.
Maria and Margaret Cho need to do a show where they just play their mothers!!
Mom-I'm just doing a bible study of just the really violent parts. I love 100% of her comedy and personalities.
Her work is brilliant.
Gotta love María
She is awesome!
She is great!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool, I first saw her from Tim and Eric lol. Check out her Tim and Eric appearances if you haven't already, very funny stuff.
She is my hero!
This should have been longer
She is a delight.
God I love this woman!
Some believe that she is rank up there with the likes of Robin Williams! I totally agree. I think she is a comedic genius! I sure do hope that she is aware of how much happiness and joy she brings all of us!
shes so funny
I think she and grace helbig could have a great relationship.
a used dodge caravan always got my juices runnin
*Neused..or nused..
So many laughs from her double perspective style.
there is a reason her name is BAMFord
The "BAM" will be a legend of the Terminator utopia. They will build bronze statues of her. There will be national days of remembrance and days off work. There will be meditation dystopian wilderness cults.
Pug!
She’s not me! She has a life.
Best living comedians: Amer Rahman, Frankie Boyle & Maria Bamford.
She is hilarious but she does scare me. I hope she is really okay
Why does she scare you?
Presumably OP is concerned for her mental well-being but... eh, that's pretty much every human. She's just more honest about things and uses it in her comedy! No worries, mate.
Maybe she's crying out quietly, but as loudly as she can, because if she cries too loudly, they'll send her to the mental hospital again. The persona is all about being beaten down emotionally. The last name is BAM Ford, like a comic book BAM.. beating a dead horse (a Fjord is a small but strong horse breed).
