Spoiled is having people work for you for free and then also bitch about it.
💯
I agree.
True dat I have family like that and I was married to her spoiled daughter.
Yup!!!!!!
Spoiled is being able to do unpaid work to get a foot in the door without becoming homeless and starving. Only people who can fall back on wealthy family are able to do that.

@@animaxima8302the problem is when you label someone trying to fight back as "spoiled" their argument loses a lot of it's vitality in the eyes of others. And a single individual voice is rarely strong enough to achieve anything on its own.
While I don't agree these labels are solely for this as there are definitely spoiled, stubborn, and argumentative people out there who are fighting for no good reason, these labels are definitely used a lot more on people that aren't applicable and are only used for the sake of shutting down their argument.

At this point if a major corp does unpaired internships it’s just a cover to give nepo kids “job experience” since they’re the only ones who can afford it.
This is absolutely spot on. To get a job you need experience. How do I get experience without getting a job? Unpaid internships. But how will I pay rent and eat? Get a job? It’s a stupid system rigged so that only those who are born into the club can become members.
YES! I would have interned in Washington if I could have afforded it during college. But I had to stay home and work at a grocery store so that I could buy books the next year. If I ever become really rich, I'm endowing my college with a fund that not only pays the direct costs of student internships, but also pays for their lost wages if they have a summer job.
When I read about major corporations and brokerage houses setting up tables in the fraternity houses in the Ivy League schools to attract the bros to their business, that told me all I needed to know.

Tbh this is the difference between people who have money and don’t. I grew up working class , family on welfare across from a meth house. When I got a loan and went to college my classmates did unpaid internships cause they could. They got experience but I needed a paycheck. And that’s how continues know who is well off and who isn’t
Both started at the bottom tbh. But one wants to keep exploiting the system that gave her a hard time.
True. Not everyone can afford to do work for free.
This is very real
This isn’t talked about enough.
I remarked upon this in a different comment thread--but COMPLETELY agreed. I went to an expensive college (on scholarship and federal aid) and my students lived in a nice house so I didn't consider myself "poor" by any means, but I could have never had a fancy internship in Boston or Washington like I would have wanted. I worked as a cashier in a grocery store each summer to pay for books and give me a little bit of pocket money the following year.
My school DID offer financial aid for internships that would pay toward your cost of living expenses, but there was nothing to cover the wages you'd LOSE by working for free during the summer.
I've decided that if I ever become really fortunate and become rich, I'm endowing my college with a fund that covers not internship-related living expenses, but the wages lost from not working your summer job.
Getting people to work without pay should be deemed illegal.
Why? Its a personal decision…..
@@nadominhoca personal decision that should be illegal
It’s par for the course for interns.
Internships should be illegal. It's a tool of class control. High paying managerial career paths start with internships. If you can't afford to work a year or two without income you are effectively kept out of these career paths. It's a buffer keeping everyone where they belong. Wouldn't want lower class people in important positions where they could rock the boat.

Worked for a boss like this. Took over an office that "they" were going to close for under performance, that was run by his fair haired boy. He got an annual raise and a piece of district performance bonus pool.18 months later, "my office" generated revenue sufficient to double the bonus pool from areas outside the performance "grid." No raise, no bonus. Resigned to his boss, who, after a review of the income reports, canned him.
this is very fair. her thinking that she's helping the girl is not really accurate. I did internships as well. Sure it did provide experience that I needed in order to grow but as far as getting a real job every employer wanted to see actual paid experiences.
I had a woman supervisor in the cable business show up on a job where I decided to run a cable drop under eaves and around the outside of the house instead of going in a crawl space that was muddy and partially flooded. She proceeded to to tell me that she would have run it under the house regardless and went into her story about being one of very females in the industry. Long story short I said that I wouldn’t have done it any differently because I don’t know what is in that mud and partially flooded crawl space as peoples sewer lines are also there. It was just cable. Man or woman doing the work, shouldn’t make you feel obligated to put you health at risk for a mundane job like installing cable.

Internships and apprenticeships are about getting training, mentoring, coaching and learning "tricks of the trade" that you can't get from anywhere else (as well as access to opportunities)... it takes a lot of time and effort to train someone and sometimes they screw up things that you have to cover the cost for.... that's why interns/apprentices don't get paid (or paid much). There are very few jobs out there for which you need to apprentice or intern. When done right, it's still a fair trade.

I’ve heard the line “You think everyone’s out to get you. Nobody’s trying to get you.” so many times in my life, including work settings. I’m sure at times I was overreacting out of my own insecurities, but there have definitely been times where I was gaslit, and this scene kind of confirmed it for me. It’s almost like watching s reenactment of what happened to me at my last job. There are people who will do anything in their power to make the time you spend at work as terrible as they can, while still being subtle enough to be able to project and call you crazy and portray you as the one that’s causing issues. It is absolutely disgusting and a very difficult situation to find yourself in. I feel for anyone who had to go through this or is experiencing it now or in the future. Don’t let them see you upset. Play the game and be smart about it. Manipulate them just like they’re manipulating you, and actively look for another job simultaneously. When you get another opportunity, then let it all out if you feel like you need to. 💪🏾
