Bertuzzi broke his hand blocking a shot, then when he returned from that he promptly broke the other hand diving in front of another shot and was out again.
Breaking both hands in the same season will have some input on your goal output when you return. He’s really been coming on lately tho.

Popular/unpopular opinion-Brad Marchand is not only the most hated player in the league…..he is also the most underrated! Unbelievable talent, relentless, hard working, never takes a shift off… dispite his undersize never afraid to go into the corners, and on top of it all…. Is a leader in the locker room. I know other teams hate him… but damn, what a player!

Boston fans - our Detroit answer to Marchand (obviously not as talented) but gives all - I think you'll love him. He started slowly first couple of games after his second broken hand, but was instrumental in the lineup through their recent streak. Boston moves way up in my interest level for the playoffs now, but I've always loved Marchand (have to - local boy and friend to Sid and Nathan !).
I heard someone refer to Bert as "Diet Marchand"....which is good. Good to have some variety in the fridge.
Love the deals the Bruins have made so far, IMO the only two players traded that were better were Horvat and Meier, you could argue Kane, Tarasenko etc, but the players the Bruins got just seem to fit that team perfectly.

Not only do they fit the Bruins perfectly but they've all already contributed to the offense and been good on the physical side too! All 3 aren't afraid to throw big hits and get into it and scrap and be a thorn in teams sides!!
As a Wings fan, I *cannot* root for Boston but seeing playoff Bertuzzi has me excited.

Thank you for actually explaining WHY Bertuzzi is a good fit in Boston. I really hope the B’s get the cup this season… so many awesome stories. And the B’s have always been top heavy on their top two lines, but they’ve really improved their depth this season. I’m so nervous lol but I’m very hopeful. For now.
the Bruins are an entire WAGON this season...I think they know it's cup or bust this year...and I'm also hoping to see another cup here in Boston. The Bruins not having more than one cup in the last 15 years is almost as much of a let down as the 08 Celtics team only winning one championship.
the bruins have not always been top heavy. the yea they won the cup was literally almost soley because of how great their 4th line was, and an obvious nod to a freak season from thomas

Their 3rd line was awesome too that year. 3rd line pickups that year were Peverley and Kelly and they played great with Michael Ryder.... who was a big game player especially in that first series against the Habs. And they had even had Seguin as healthy scratch secret weapon to unleash on the Lightning in the ECF, Not to mention having horses like Chara, Boychuck, and Siedenberg on the blue line. What a team.... what a run.
wings fan here. bruins got a hell of a player in bertuzzi. we are gonna miss him. hes all heart and plays like it too, Bruins got even better today.
And apperantly Johnathan Quick is now a Golden Knight. This deadline is crazy man.

Here in the BOS area we were ready to drive Don Sweeney out of town over that Mitchell Miller thing. What a debacle that was… But other than that, holy cr*p. Coach Montgomery, Taylor Hall, Ullmark, Hampus Lindholm, Pavel Zacha, DeBrusk, Foligno, Orlov, Hathaway, Bertuzzi, Forbort, Bergeron & Krejci convinced to come back, Pasta re-signing. Ridiculous.

Really tough the Wings couldn't do more this season to keep Bertuzzi and Hronek around. Larkin cried at the podium.
Which leads me to believe Larkin signed before they dealt Bert - he was really upset which may mean he was blindsided with the news.

I can't believe how solid of an NHL player Hathaway has become. He was a complementary player on some bad Brown University teams of the early 2010s. Brown hasn't made an NCAA tournament in 30 years. But he somehow made the NHL and has been very effective.

Bergeron has been with the Bruins since he was 17 years old. If Bertuzzi stays and Hall can stay healthy next year should be okay.

As a lifelong Bruins fan, this year is so damn amazing. I want so bad for them to win the cup. This reminds me of when Detroit signed Brett Hull, Luc Robataille, etc… they are so stacked. If they don’t win it all, I’ll be shocked.

That was OK in my books..despite being a lifelong Bruins fan....I was happy for the Blues, and it was poetry that they beat the Bruins for the Cup...cuz I felt for Noel Picard as he tripped Bobby...as Bobby scored on Glenn Hall back in the day.
All the hundreds of guys who wore the Blues uniform....I always thought long-suffering franchises should do more to honour and thank all those guys who built their franchises into winners finally after so long.

Bertuzzi has now played his 1st game as a Bruin and it didn't take him long to contribute!!...he was on scoresheet b4 end of the 1st period vs Rangers with a SICK PASS from behind the net to Coyle who scored!!🙂 and Bruins beat the Rangers and r now 49-8-5 for 103 points with ridiculous goal differential at +105!!! Oh yea and the game b4 the Rangers game they beat Buffalo...7-1!!! and became the fastest team to get to 100 points in a season EVER!!! doing it in just 61 games for 101 points!! With that win vs Buffalo and the win vs Rangers the Bruins have won 10 in a row too!! This team is just insane this year!!! I'd like to know how many records they matched,set,or beat this season!? It seems like every other game they've made some kinda record and/or guys have reached milestones or career highs...or scored a goalie goal!!!

Upon Bertuzzi's arrival with the Bruins, Coach Monty put him in the locker right next to Marchand. LOL. Brilliant play.
As a DRW fan, I'm very happy that Bert ended up in B's. Bert is also given the best opportunities to get a Cup ring and not many DRW fans think he has 8 years left in his scarred body.
Sp regardless of what number this 1st pick will be in the end, it is of added value to RW in other combinations that could lead to future deals. Having assets is something that benefits RW & S.Y and I think there are possibilities that we RW fans can see something more happen before TDL closes this year already. This year's and next drafts are deep in players who could very well strengthen DRW and this deal is balanced.
Then we know that DW keeps 50% of his salary, which is a strong receipt that B's sees Bert as a retal this year and they never overpay and they won't do it either for a player who today has Pro's and Con's. Bert will fit into the B's as a fantastic depth player, especially in their 3rd line. B's already has a very good team and they have a short window with their core to win another Cup.
It will be interesting to see where Bert ends up after the season is over and how his new contract ends up. As a RW fan, I'm very happy that Bert ended up in the B's as I think he will join a team that will be very difficult to beat in the playoffs, good luck Bert love what you have done for DRW over the years.
I called this one when you were talking about them picking bruins who seem to be a perfect fit; and boom.
The Bruins just beat the Sabres 7-1. This team is loaded! They have scoring, they have defense, they have special teams, and they have goaltending. I see no weaknesses on this team. I'm looking at a Stanley Cup this spring!
At this point I don't think any of the players really care about which line they're on as long as they keep getting wins and gaining points and ultimately get through rounds to the cup. This seems to be the chase to the Stanley Cup.

I laugh when people say this is a last dance for the bruins. Are you kidding me? Even if Bergy and Krejci retire look at the depth they have in net, on defense and even on forward. Sure they will need centres but they have the extra players to trade with for one. Hope Hall and Foligno recover soon.
This gets me excited. I can't predict anything about the playoffs, but I'm very hopeful. Go get it, Bruins. Make it count!
I love the Bertuzzi trade and especially the Pasta signing. IF they win the Cup, then giving up the picks was worth it to take another shot while they have Bergeron.
And with luck, Hall comes off of LTIR fully healthy for the playoffs - IMO that would be huge.
And they still have some very 3-4 very good prospects (Lohrei, Lysell, Poitras, Lauko)
But ALSO, IF they could somehow extend Bertuzzi, Hathaway and/or Orlov, then they'd be more than fine for next season. I'm not sure if that's even possible with their cap situation, but these players really seem like excellent fits.
And, maybe, either Bergeron or Krejci (or both!) decide to go for another season.
Bergy and Krej taking those $ cuts are the reason we are here. Without them taking as little as they did we wouldn’t have cap space to get all this depth

Bertuzzi isn’t made of glass. He just got unlucky with the two pucks to the hands. You shouldn’t be worried about injuries with this guy.
As a Leafs fan I absolutely hate this deal and hate the Bruins.... but as a hockey fan, this is an amazing deal and they are only getting more fun to watch. There is almost nothing better to watch than the Bruins playing Bruins hockey and grinding teams into pieces, they are going to go incredibly deep in this playoff and are a strong favourite for Lord Stanley, though again as a Leaf fan, god i hope they get bounced round 1 and we can actually win a round and not then have to face them 😂
The Bees front office did a great job in aquiring a player with the right attitude and skill package to fit right in with their team. He's a rental and probably won't be there next year in all likelyhood but they have him for the rest of the playoff year and he will help out, of that I'm sure. He's still a young man, right in his prime. He's a former 30 goal scorer, what, two years ago? He will command more than $7 million/year when he signs next year, with whomever he ends up with. That the only reason I think he won't be signed by Boston but you never know. Yzerman loves to collect draft picks (of any flavor) and the Wings weren't close to signing him so moving him became a priority, so a good trade for both teams. They're the best trades.

Fr tho the Boston sports scene is insane, there's always something going on and at any time 1 of the big 4 teams is contending. Most spoiled fan base ever. I'm 34 and the last time all our teams were mediocre or sucked I was in middle school!
Boston fans are very demanding they have the right management/coaching leading to competitive teams. You will feel the pressure from them QUICK. They are not only passionate but they are knowledge(as opposed to Philly fans for instance who are passionate but dumber than a box of rocks). As a New Yorker who hates everything Boston sports, after having spent a lot of time there In my younger days I grew to respect the way they do things(although the Red Sox have seem to change their philosophy and be OK with sucking recently).

Leafs fans thinking they are the winners of the trade deadline and then the Bruins and Sens prove that players don't really wanna go there. This is why Matthews will be playing somewhere else next season.

Can't blame Stevie on this one. Bert is a fan favorite, definitely will be missed but with the snake bitten season he's hard it was pretty hard to determine his value. I would have been fine with giving him a 5x$5.5M contract and Im also fine with getting a 1st, seeing how he does the rest of the way and trying to resign him in the offseason. All I know is he will forever be a guy we root for!

The issue with Bertuzzi this year was injuries. He would play a few games, get hurt, play a few games get hurt again
My buddy's a Bruins fan. I am constantly under fire from him as I'm a Rangers fan, and no team is better at screwing themselves out of wins and success than the NYR(well, maybe the Leafs). The Bruins are so dominant that it's not even a contest. If they don't win the Cup this year, they can only blame themselves.
