They need to update that display. Make the logo smaller or move it to the back side, and go thin bezel. Get rid of the old school permanent arrows and just go full OLED. For the money they're asking it needs to look sleek and as modern as possible.

The display is a failure.
That makes a lot of sense for the money they’re asking they should also make it look more sleek and clean like a Oled iPhone screen or Samsung screen smaller though it doesn’t need to be huge collecting heat and reflection from the sun
I feel like it seems good that you can customize it. However how many people know what band each new vehicle has.. I would rather the company send out updates to cover these then mess around my self potentially blocking actual police frequencies.
Police radar frequency can drift around all over the bands as the units age so it is possible that you are blocking an actual speed enforcement radar. Using the “weak” option gives you some protection as the signal strength increases you would still get an alert. There’s no one size fits all that the mfg can just send out.
@@alanfield735 very true. I agree. Sometimes I feel when departments eventually do replace equipment. The very old frequencies that are now used for cars fall out of favor

Very cool. In addition to the white directional LEDs, I think I might prefer the display not have the word, "Uniden," on it for more stealth. I am curious what will happen as the result of a company like Uniden, with a larger public presence, offering laser jammers? Will this bring the topic into more focus for law-enforcement agencies and state legislatures?
I am curious if you have ever been pulled over for speeding and what the officer's reaction to all your countermeasures was. For example, full-on rage, curiosity, or dollar signs in his eyes at the thought of confiscating any illegal equipment. ;)

If they just implement a block on the frequency used by the Dollar General store doors, that will eliminate 75% of the false alerts.

It would be nice if the r9 had a better display with how much you end up paying for it rather than one similar to their $300 detector. After all it is one of the few pieces you see all the time.
Imagine buying a 65" TV in 2023 with 40% of actual viewing screen and 60% of bezel real estate, with the company huge logo printed on the whole 60% of bezel, so when you watch the TV, you always reminded who made it. 😂

I seem to remember that Radenso was blocking false alarms based on not just the actual frequency, but also the fingerprint of the frequency. What has happened with that concept?

What happens if you lose GPS connection? With the ALP Priority system, if GPS connection is lost, laser protection is turned off.

In the video I mentioned the jammers are the same as what will be available to pair with the R4 and R8. I also showed it in action with the R4. R8 behavior will be the same.
I'd love an integrated radar and LiDAR system outside my R7 and ALPs but looks like it's not coming just yet

Is the R9 Stealthy like the V1Gen2 and Redline 360? I live in MD and work a few days a week in Northern VA to include time going to DC where they are banned.
No sadly Uniden is not good at rdd at all vortex has videos on it.
The desire to print “UNIDEN” in letters almost as big as the display, just so that they could show their company name, is a huge fail on many levels, not to mention the fact that they could have parts shared the R8 display, to drive down costs.
What a huge disappointment.
A bigger LCD would be nice, but it would really limit your placement options and stealthy look. I agree about having the brand name on the display though.
@@VortexRadar if they didn’t have the stupid Uniden logo and the completely pointless arrows, the overall size wouldn’t be any bigger than the same physical dimensions.

JBV1 seems to have a larger alert radius for stuff than the current version of Waze has. Google has been decreasing the alert distance since they bought it. (JBV1 still uses the same user dB as waze)
R8 and Highway Radar. Seriously, that app is fantastic.
Can the Uniden R9 be windshield mounted like the Uniden R8 with the suction cup?
Custom installed radar detectors are designed to be installed in your grill for a more hidden and stealthy install.
The Uniden R9 is a custom installed radar detector normally the Antenna would go on the bumper or the grill area
That display is confusing
R8 is an awesome radar, I got hit with an laser alert (scared me lol) normally it’s Ka alert and they could not lock on me, I believe I was over a mile away. why it’s not compatible with R9 laser set up? the new one hard to read and ugly. I am disappointed and it’s not stealth.

Can you please address why the latest update has made the arrows on the R7 so off?!
The fact that the arrows don't work... they show a single gun front and rear, is a deal breaker. To me that is exactly why we want two arrows.... for it to detect on one side, then switch to the other as we drive past. I am sure they will fix this soon.
Sorry I guess I wasn’t clear. The arrows DO work. I said that several times and showed some demos to illustrate. It’s the on-screen alert presentation that makes things more confusing. If you look at the arrows on the side though, they do a good job of locating the source and flipping as you pass.
If you find that confusing, just switch to the display mode showing just one main signal and use solely the arrows on the right side of the display for directional indications.
Would be nice of they would fix their current detectors, I won't ever consider another Uniden until they get with it. It is quite unbelievable the lack of updates/fixes we have had over the past few years.
Exactly one reason I went with the R7 with Mithheru's custom FW. I couldn't be more pleased with it.
I am so disappointed they are going all-in on K blocks as their BSM solution.

This is possible for rich boys...it costs >1500 + 1000 installation....its better to drive within road speed limits as time savings mere 1hr for 1000kms @140km/hr😜😜😜🤪🤪😝😝🤪🤪😝😜😝😝😝🤪 more than 160km/hr if caught car will be seized with jail term😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏.....Uniden has to bring something like Redline with both front&back laser notification.
It's nice but spend all that money'on install and sell the car few yrs down the road this is for someone that wants stealth look good video

Nice review but, I feel as though that Uniden should have done away with that K block feature. Its a gimmick for sure. They could have preprogrammed the settings for different cars for all that money. Its not like we're gonna constantly play & tweak the filter then set it to front or rear SMH. The mini display REALLY!!! It's ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE... They could have just made the screen smaller from the R8 with proper arrows & color. The led light though SMH-LOL!!! The laser jammers have a chance & I do like the audio for that. The rest is a DEFINITE NO for me.....

@Lord Sandwich The airwaves are publicly owned. Transmitting pulses of light does not disrupt any other devices like radar jammers do.

It's not worth it to but laser jammer. Cops rarely use them and prefer radar simply because of ease of use. They can catch more speeders and give more tickets using radar over laser.
Please be careful making blanket statements like this because while it may be true in certain specific areas, it’s not true in the vast majority of locations.
I live off the Ohio Turnpike 80/90. The OSP definitely uses laser 99 percent of the time sitting in the medians. Vortex is correct.
I was going to buy one until I saw $3,999.

R9 is going to be a completely different price point, especially after you pay for installation.
