- Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share this new clean with me video with you! Today I did a bunch of deep cleaning, decluttering, and organizing! Finally! I tacked my dreaded corner cabinet that was so cluttered and needed a good declutter and organize! I also got to my spice cabinet and organized that, onto my pantry - I cleaned my cabinets and bathrooms and then headed upstairs to clean up the floors! It was a nice time to be able to get the stuff done! The house needed a mothers touch! Hope this motivates you to get some stuff done too!

Hi Kim! I’m not a mom but I’m a hairdresser so I talk to A LOT of moms! I’ve got to say when I ask a mom what she does for work a stay at home mom will often say something along the lines of “I don’t work I’m a stay at home mom” and I always make sure to say “no you work 10x more than the rest of us with no pay! That’s the hardest job” I always hope it makes a mom feel seen and feel like she is the superhero she literally is!

IMO the hardest job is moms that go into work and then are still doing all the mom stuff when they get home. But it’s not a competition 😆
As a mother who has been both a working mother and a stay at home mother that homeschools, I would say staying home is more mentally draining. When everyone leaves the house all day, there isn't more mess being made. When everyone is home almost all the time, the mess is constant. It's not a competition though... being a mom is a lot of work!
We bought a house a few years back and the previous owners left an electric fireplace. I have never had a fireplace period. Well, it works great and we use it all the time! It's in our basement and we spend a lot of time down there. It's GREAT!!!!!!! Now I don't think I'll ever be without one! You will love it!

Oh Kim! I remember at the old house when you would open the spice cabinet and we never knew what would come falling out. 😂 It was like a game! And you were soooo excited to get those spice jars and “ get your life together”. Good times sis!

Kim, I think the message you shared today is one of the most important messages young first-time moms are told by moms with older kids. It is not going to be like this forever. As the kids get older they always need you but in less demanding ways. New motherhood can have over whelping moments and people forget to a new mom she is just living day to day trying to figure it all out.. it helps to have people around you who can put it all in perspective so you can see the forest through the trees. Function over beauty all the way!!!!! I keep my spices in a bin to pull down and toss in. It is amazing. I have done it that way for years. I am never going back to any other way. I have one bin for everyday stuff and one for baking type stuff. You could also add one for weird crap or a grilling one since you have space.
I feel like the ages 12-17 are the most stressful. Less physical stress than the toddler age (less picking up after, no honey wiping, etc) but the emotional stress is something else! All I can say is thank God I made it though it! Now, on to the grandbabies!
Omg!!! Yes yes yes yes but I would even extend that to 18!! For me, having Littles was stressful but at the end of the day, I could "fix" whatever was "broken" but in the later years, those times I couldn't "fix" it or hug it away hit my soul! My kids are now 23 and 26 and damn... It's still rough,really rough at times. I think that's just how it hits sometimes being a parent.

@@Chelbsn Yes!!! Agreed! Our kids are 23 and 27 now. They kept me busy as littles for sure, but like you said, as they grow into young adulthood, you can't make choices for them or protect them from nearly as much anymore. Watching them deal with challenges as adults is tough. Our first grandbaby is 20 months old and I could gleefully chase him around and play with him all day! Quite a perspective shift being grandparents. Now we truly soak up every sweet moment we can!
@@kelseyd4196 I know the saying is "the struggle is real" but as the kids get older those struggles get even more real... They get way up close and personal! I agree whole heartedly with you that it is really difficult watching children, now adults, find their way through all that life is. I don't have grandchildren yet, but those are days I will definitely cherish!!
Time is a thief. It’s very challenging when they are young but before you know it they are in high school, then college then out on their own. You and your husband for a while will be super excited then the deer in the headlights happens with the silence. Unfortunately we lost our only child in 2017 she was 25. Enjoy every second even the hard ones. Y’all are great parents! ❤️

And I have used Murphy’s Oil Soap for years. Good stuff! So is Fels Naptha soap bars in getting stains out. Wet the stain and scrub the bar on the stain. Let soak a bit. Agitate by rubbing together Run cold water ( never warm
or hot) through the stain; repeat, then wash regularly.

My kids are now 13 and my son is turning 15 next week. They are 16 months apart. I always said the toddler years were physically exhausting but the teenage years are mentally exhausting! It's all hard ( and 100% worth it) but a different kind of hard. And my teenagers are pretty easy so far with straight A's playing multiple sports and activities in a great group of friends. It's still tough!

Kim, I love you. You're a superwoman. I have to say though, I am surprised you said you are loving the middle school years with your oldest. My kids are all in the middle school age bracket now and it is the hardest for me. I'm sure I have rose-colored glasses and forgetting the sleepless nights and toddler tantrums, but that phase came naturally to me. Now, I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing and it's so emotionally hard. I always felt like I was a really good mom until now! You are inspiring.

Hi Kim! I love your videos. I have to tell you, I live in Pittsburgh and my Costco has the chocolate covered strawberries but it does not have the mashed potatoes you buy. We walked around the entire store this past week end looking for them. My husband finally said can you ask Kimberly Whisk where they are in store? Btw, the strawberries were by the desserts. Where they put the pumpkin pies and other cakes! Thanks for the entertainment and motivation. We surviving not thriving this winter and it’s good to have someone so relatable to watch. Thanks.

That stressful mom quote video thing I shared too. It resonated for me too I am always pulled away and distracted. My husband and I be are always interrupted when we try to talk. I think just knowing yeah. It is hard. Motherhood is hard. But it's the best. So much mixed feelings in there. It is okay to live your kids more then anything and also need some time away from them. 🙂❤️ Listen.... Those teen years are tiught though. I am straddling both sides and man. Yeah. All work. All emotional. All over the place. All exhausting. All rewarding. Weird stuff parenting is.

So I saw something similar about the job of a SAHM. I have an autistic son. 1/4 kids 5 and under. It said that being a asd mom was equivalent to the stress of a soldier. So that’s crazy. Girl I feel you!!! I also know that i’m grateful it’s not as hard as other people have it. I’ve only been married six years. lol 😂

If you make the peanut butter cookies with the recipe that is only: peanut butter, sugar, eggs (and I usually add an extra spoon of pb!). They will come out more like the “Pinterest” cookies.
Roll them into balls, but don’t smush them down. As soon as they come out of the oven, put your Dove heart or Hershey kiss on while hot- they will look like they are melting, but they are fine! Just let them cool. 🍪
But just know, you are better than “good enough”! You take care of your family and still make time for us! Thank you for sharing with us!!

Only clean what can be seen- I do this to a concerning degree lol. The Fly Lady has a crisis clean list for when company is an hour away and it has been my only routine for over a year. 😂 floors, toilets, dishes until the timer goes off. I finally got to achieving a load of laundry and dishes a day semiautomatically. I cleaned my bedroom for the first time… since I moved here maybe. I love to clean with your videos on but I have to rewind a lot because I missed something hilarious. Kids aged 5,4, and 1 month.😅

I’m 3 weeks postpartum..and all I see are the things needing deep cleaning, but I barely have time for surface cleans. It is what it is at this point 🤷🏻♀️. If I can get all dishes done each day, and keep up with laundry I consider it a win!
I also do Murphys soap to clean cabinets. But for greasy cabinets spray on degreaser spray directly, no water because oil repels water. Scrub lightly with a scotch guard sponge and wipe with dry cloth.

I think I like the thermo flask water bottles for kids they sell at Costco. We got those this year. My older kids seem to like it. I don't think it leaks. But they also keep it upright in their backpacks on the side and then carry to lunch or class. They weren't too huge for them. They keep their stuff cold and are durable.
I saw the $15 chocolate covered strawberries too and was like heck to the no! I love them, but can’t justify that price tag. Love the real and raw chats while you clean ❤

I preclean before family cleaning day as well. Cause I know all the places they won't get, and I don't want them to get discouraged, so I preclean. The older they get, the less I preclean. And my daughter caught on a couple years ago and has started to help me preclean. She's a keeper. But my son and hubby don't like cleaning, they will do it, but they hate it. And they've learned not to half butt it either, cause they'll have to redo it. My motto is, "I'm not the only body that lives here, so I shouldn't be the only one cleaning." And my kids are old enough to do their own laundry; and I will help them, but it's rare they ask. They each have picked a day and they do it. Only have had two shrinking incidents.

Here in NJ we have plastic bag ban so we have reusable bags we divide them and put them in each car/put back after shopping😊saves space....our malls added play areas(arcade & glow in dark golf & other games) to keep one afloat, also knocked one down that was closed to make warehouse and townhouses...the other is adding apartments and a doctor's office so it convenient for people shop after doc appt😊.... COVID messed a lot up🥴

Believe me when I say that when your child is 16.5 years old and starts looking at colleges in a DIFFERENT state, you will miss it!! It’s a stage we all go through as parents. It’s bittersweet, for sure!! Love your honest dialogue on the struggle/joys/all of it!
I was just like you… always cleaning up after my kids thinking oh a mother’s touch and not really teaching them how to do a great job at cleaning and it’s ok when the kids are young but just wait until you have a bunch of teenagers/college aged kids you are still constantly picking up after and cleaning up after cause they think it’s your job as the mom … so much resentment
My 20 year old full time college student still lives with me and the bitterness is real when you are cleaning her mess in the kitchen for the 100th time cause she knows how to cook but has zero clue what cleaner to use to clean your brand new stove top or she ruins that new pan you just bought cause she didn’t realize you shouldn’t use a certain cooking spray on it… no one told me how hard it was going to be to share my home and kitchen with older adult children… not little kids anymore
I should have taught them so much more years ago but I was the mom… I wanted to be “in control” I wanted things done my own way… it made me feel good as a mom to take care of my kids… until that kid turned into an adult still living under my roof driving me crazy lololol I’d give anything to have her be 3 years old again… trust me NOT the hard years!
And when they are all grown up the silence is so different from just wanting peace n quiet. To me it is sad n lonely Then my grandkids came along n that helped until they moved away n now it is still sad n lonely I know I sound depressed. I am today. It is my moms birthday n been almost three years since she died
My Mama used to say, "People don't notice something that's clean, but they'll notice something that's dirty." In other words, you have to take the encyclopedias off the shelf, dust off the books & shelves, & then put them back (this was before internet lol). It all makes sense as an adult!

I 1000% agree on the spice jars. To decant all my spices is an incredible waste of time and energy. I keep them in the original containers in a drawer. Works great for me.

Our visits are too short. I always look forward to your posts. I agree that a loud messed up house is better--I miss those good old days. My house stays picked up and is quiet, but I am alone, but not lonely. Well, a little. My girls are 48 and 53, and neither are breeders. One is a Veterinarian. and the other an artist and art conservator. She lives here in Chattanooga, but her job is in Denver, really all over the US. I have to tell you--being the parent of adult children can be harder than being the parent of young children because you have no control over their lives. You never get over wanti.g to keep your children safe. But have to keep it to yourself.
I heard one psychologist say being a stay at home mom is like working 21/2 jobs outside. I have a BS in Early childhood ed. And I think you are doing a wonderful job.

Near us, the malls that are going out are becoming new food restaurants. Basically, it's a food court. The mall I used to go to as a kid, though, became a Hyvee.

@thewadsquad yes the one closet to us is bringing in food varieties. So, different food types from around the world. This is a project that the city has implemented. Mind you, this one was a strip mall, but this was the over covid project release. Some of the places have been delayed, but for opening and fixing up from covid. My husband and I haven't gone to it yet with not much time with being parents and busy work schedules do to his job, but some old coworkers went and they said they had a great time there.
